עָזַ֙בְנוּ֙ we have forsaken ‘ā·zaḇ·nū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְהוָ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh וַנַּעֲבֹ֥ד and served wan·na·‘ă·ḇōḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַבְּעָלִ֖ים the Baals hab·bə·‘ā·lîm וְאֶת־ and wə·’eṯ- הָעַשְׁתָּר֑וֹת Ashtoreths . hā·‘aš·tā·rō·wṯ וְעַתָּ֗ה Now wə·‘at·tāh הַצִּילֵ֛נוּ deliver us haṣ·ṣî·lê·nū מִיַּ֥ד from the hands mî·yaḏ אֹיְבֵ֖ינוּ of our enemies , ’ō·yə·ḇê·nū וְנַעַבְדֶֽךָּ׃ that we may serve You .’ wə·na·‘aḇ·ḏe·kā 1 Samuel 12:11 יְהוָה֙ So YHWH Yah·weh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח sent way·yiš·laḥ יְרֻבַּ֣עַל Jerubbaal , yə·rub·ba·‘al וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- בְּדָ֔ן Barak , bə·ḏān וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- יִפְתָּ֖ח Jephthah , yip̄·tāḥ וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- שְׁמוּאֵ֑ל and Samuel , šə·mū·’êl וַיַּצֵּ֨ל and He delivered way·yaṣ·ṣêl אֶתְכֶ֜ם you ’eṯ·ḵem מִיַּ֤ד from the hands mî·yaḏ אֹֽיְבֵיכֶם֙ of your enemies ’ō·yə·ḇê·ḵem מִסָּבִ֔יב on every side , mis·sā·ḇîḇ וַתֵּשְׁב֖וּ and you dwelt wat·tê·šə·ḇū בֶּֽטַח׃ securely . be·ṭaḥ 1 Samuel 12:12 וַתִּרְא֗וּ But when you saw wat·tir·’ū כִּֽי־ that kî- נָחָ֞שׁ Nahash nā·ḥāš מֶ֣לֶךְ king me·leḵ בְּנֵֽי־ of the Ammonites bə·nê- עַמּוֹן֮ . . . ‘am·mō·wn בָּ֣א was moving bā עֲלֵיכֶם֒ against you , ‘ă·lê·ḵem וַתֹּ֣אמְרוּ you said wat·tō·mə·rū לִ֔י to me , lî לֹ֕א ‘ No , lō כִּי־ . . . kî- מֶ֖לֶךְ we must have a king me·leḵ יִמְלֹ֣ךְ to rule yim·lōḵ עָלֵ֑ינוּ over us ’ — ‘ā·lê·nū וַיהוָ֥ה even though YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם your God ’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem מַלְכְּכֶֽם׃ [was] your king . mal·kə·ḵem 1 Samuel 12:13 וְעַתָּ֗ה Now wə·‘at·tāh הִנֵּ֥ה here is hin·nêh הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ the king ham·me·leḵ בְּחַרְתֶּ֖ם you have chosen , bə·ḥar·tem אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer אֲשֶׁ֥ר the one ’ă·šer שְׁאֶלְתֶּ֑ם you requested . šə·’el·tem וְהִנֵּ֨ה Behold , wə·hin·nêh יְהוָ֛ה YHWH Yah·weh נָתַ֧ן has placed nā·ṯan מֶֽלֶךְ׃ a king me·leḵ עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם over you . ‘ă·lê·ḵem 1 Samuel 12:14 אִם־ If ’im- תִּֽירְא֣וּ you fear tî·rə·’ū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְהוָ֗ה YHWH Yah·weh וַעֲבַדְתֶּ֤ם and serve wa·‘ă·ḇaḏ·tem אֹתוֹ֙ Him ’ō·ṯōw וּשְׁמַעְתֶּ֣ם and obey ū·šə·ma‘·tem בְּקֹל֔וֹ His voice , bə·qō·lōw וְלֹ֥א and if you do not wə·lō תַמְר֖וּ rebel ṯam·rū אֶת־ against ’eṯ- פִּ֣י the command pî יְהוָ֑ה of YHWH , Yah·weh וִהְיִתֶ֣ם and if wih·yi·ṯem גַּם־ both gam- אַתֶּ֗ם you ’at·tem וְגַם־ and wə·ḡam- הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ the king ham·me·leḵ אֲשֶׁ֣ר who ’ă·šer מָלַ֣ךְ reigns mā·laḵ עֲלֵיכֶ֔ם over you ‘ă·lê·ḵem אַחַ֖ר follow ’a·ḥar יְהוָ֥ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃ your God, [then all will be well] . ’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem 1 Samuel 12:15 וְאִם־ But if wə·’im-
