דְּבַ֤ר about də·ḇar הַמְּלוּכָה֙ the kingship . ham·mə·lū·ḵāh 1 Samuel 10:17 שְׁמוּאֵל֙ After this, Samuel šə·mū·’êl אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיַּצְעֵ֤ק summoned way·yaṣ·‘êq הָעָ֔ם the people hā·‘ām אֶל־ to ’el- יְהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh הַמִּצְפָּֽה׃ at Mizpah ham·miṣ·pāh 1 Samuel 10:18 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀ and said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- בְּנֵ֣י the Israelites bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל פ . . . , yiś·rå̄·ʾēl p̄ כֹּֽה־ “ This is what kōh- יְהוָה֙ YHWH , Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֣י the God ’ĕ·lō·hê יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl אָמַ֤ר says : ’ā·mar אָנֹכִ֛י ‘ I ’ā·nō·ḵî הֶעֱלֵ֥יתִי brought he·‘ĕ·lê·ṯî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם up out of Egypt , mim·miṣ·rā·yim וָאַצִּ֤יל and I rescued wā·’aṣ·ṣîl אֶתְכֶם֙ you ’eṯ·ḵem מִיַּ֣ד from the hands mî·yaḏ מִצְרַ֔יִם of the Egyptians miṣ·ra·yim וּמִיַּד֙ . . . ū·mî·yaḏ כָּל־ and of all kāl- הַמַּמְלָכ֔וֹת the kingdoms ham·mam·lā·ḵō·wṯ הַלֹּחֲצִ֖ים that oppressed you .’ hal·lō·ḥă·ṣîm אֶתְכֶֽם׃ - ’eṯ·ḵem 1 Samuel 10:19 הַיּ֜וֹם But today hay·yō·wm וְאַתֶּ֨ם you wə·’at·tem מְאַסְתֶּ֣ם have rejected mə·’as·tem אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֗ם your God , ’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem אֲשֶׁר־ who ’ă·šer- ה֣וּא . . . hū מוֹשִׁ֣יעַ saves mō·wō·šî·a‘ לָכֶם֮ you lā·ḵem מִכָּל־ from all mik·kāl רָעוֹתֵיכֶ֣ם your troubles rā·‘ō·w·ṯê·ḵem וְצָרֹֽתֵיכֶם֒ and afflictions , wə·ṣā·rō·ṯê·ḵem וַתֹּ֣אמְרוּ and you have said wat·tō·mə·rū ל֔וֹ to Him , lōw כִּי־ ‘ No , kî- תָּשִׂ֣ים set tā·śîm מֶ֖לֶךְ a king me·leḵ עָלֵ֑ינוּ over us .’ ‘ā·lê·nū וְעַתָּ֗ה Now therefore wə·‘at·tāh הִֽתְיַצְּבוּ֙ present yourselves hiṯ·yaṣ·ṣə·ḇū לִפְנֵ֣י before lip̄·nê יְהוָ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh לְשִׁבְטֵיכֶ֖ם by your tribes lə·šiḇ·ṭê·ḵem וּלְאַלְפֵיכֶֽם׃ and clans .” ū·lə·’al·p̄ê·ḵem 1 Samuel 10:20 שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל Thus Samuel šə·mū·’êl אֵ֖ת - ’êṯ כָּל־ had all kāl- שִׁבְטֵ֣י the tribes šiḇ·ṭê יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיַּקְרֵ֣ב come forward , way·yaq·rêḇ שֵׁ֥בֶט and the tribe šê·ḇeṭ בִּנְיָמִֽן׃ of Benjamin bin·yā·min וַיִּלָּכֵ֖ד was selected . way·yil·lā·ḵêḏ 1 Samuel 10:21 שֵׁ֤בֶט Then he had the tribe šê·ḇeṭ בִּנְיָמִן֙ of Benjamin bin·yā·min וַיַּקְרֵ֞ב come forward way·yaq·rêḇ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- לְמִשְׁפַּחְתּוֹ by its clans , lə·miš·paḥ·tō מִשְׁפַּ֣חַת and the clan miš·pa·ḥaṯ הַמַּטְרִ֑י of Matri ham·maṭ·rî וַתִּלָּכֵ֖ד was selected . wat·til·lā·ḵêḏ שָׁא֣וּל Finally, Saul šā·’ūl בֶּן־ son ben- קִ֔ישׁ of Kish qîš וַיִּלָּכֵד֙ was selected . way·yil·lā·ḵêḏ וַיְבַקְשֻׁ֖הוּ But when they looked for him , way·ḇaq·šu·hū וְלֹ֥א they could not wə·lō נִמְצָֽא׃ find him . nim·ṣā 1 Samuel 10:22 עוֹד֙ So again ‘ō·wḏ וַיִּשְׁאֲלוּ־ they inquired way·yiš·’ă·lū-
