1 Samuel 6:3 וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ They replied , way·yō·mə·rū אִֽם־ “ If ’im- מְשַׁלְּחִ֞ים you return mə·šal·lə·ḥîm אֲר֨וֹן the ark ’ă·rō·wn אֱלֹהֵ֤י of the God ’ĕ·lō·hê יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אַל־ do not ’al- תְּשַׁלְּח֤וּ send it away tə·šal·lə·ḥū אֹתוֹ֙ - ’ō·ṯōw רֵיקָ֔ם empty , rê·qām כִּֽי־ but kî- הָשֵׁ֥ב by all means hā·šêḇ תָּשִׁ֛יבוּ return [it] tā·šî·ḇū ל֖וֹ to Him lōw אָשָׁ֑ם with a guilt offering . ’ā·šām אָ֤ז Then ’āz תֵּרָֽפְאוּ֙ you will be healed , tê·rā·p̄ə·’ū וְנוֹדַ֣ע and you will understand wə·nō·w·ḏa‘ לָ֛מָּה why lām·māh יָד֖וֹ His hand yā·ḏōw לֹא־ has not lō- תָס֥וּר been lifted ṯā·sūr מִכֶּֽם׃ from mik·kem לָכֶ֔ם you .” lā·ḵem 1 Samuel 6:4 מָ֣ה “ What māh הָאָשָׁם֮ guilt offering hā·’ā·šām אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer נָשִׁ֣יב should we send back nā·šîḇ לוֹ֒ to Him ?” lōw וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ asked the Philistines . way·yō·mə·rū חֲמִשָּׁה֙ “ Five ḥă·miš·šāh זָהָ֔ב gold zā·hāḇ עָפְלֵי tumors ʿå̄·p̄ə·lē וַחֲמִשָּׁ֖ה and five wa·ḥă·miš·šāh זָהָ֑ב gold zā·hāḇ עַכְבְּרֵ֣י rats , ” ‘aḵ·bə·rê וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ they said , way·yō·mə·rū מִסְפַּר֙ “ [according to] the number mis·par סַרְנֵ֣י of rulers sar·nê פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים of the Philistines , p̄ə·liš·tîm כִּֽי־ since kî- אַחַ֛ת the same ’a·ḥaṯ מַגֵּפָ֥ה plague [has struck] mag·gê·p̄āh לְכֻלָּ֖ם both you lə·ḵul·lām וּלְסַרְנֵיכֶֽם׃ and your rulers . ū·lə·sar·nê·ḵem 1 Samuel 6:5 וַעֲשִׂיתֶם֩ Make wa·‘ă·śî·ṯem צַלְמֵ֨י images ṣal·mê עָפְלֵיכֶם of your tumors ʿå̄·p̄ə·lē·ḵɛm וְצַלְמֵ֣י . . . wə·ṣal·mê עַכְבְּרֵיכֶ֗ם and of the rats ‘aḵ·bə·rê·ḵem הַמַּשְׁחִיתִם֙ that are ravaging ham·maš·ḥî·ṯim אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָאָ֔רֶץ the land . hā·’ā·reṣ וּנְתַתֶּ֛ם Give ū·nə·ṯat·tem כָּב֑וֹד glory kā·ḇō·wḏ לֵאלֹהֵ֥י to the God lê·lō·hê יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl אוּלַ֗י and perhaps ’ū·lay יָקֵ֤ל He will lift yā·qêl אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יָדוֹ֙ His hand yā·ḏōw מֵֽעֲלֵיכֶ֔ם from you mê·‘ă·lê·ḵem וּמֵעַ֥ל and ū·mê·‘al אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם your gods ’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem וּמֵעַ֥ל and ū·mê·‘al אַרְצְכֶֽם׃ your land . ’ar·ṣə·ḵem 1 Samuel 6:6 וְלָ֤מָּה Why wə·lām·māh תְכַבְּדוּ֙ harden ṯə·ḵab·bə·ḏū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- לְבַבְכֶ֔ם your hearts lə·ḇaḇ·ḵem כַּאֲשֶׁ֧ר as ka·’ă·šer מִצְרַ֥יִם the Egyptians miṣ·ra·yim וּפַרְעֹ֖ה and Pharaoh ū·p̄ar·‘ōh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- כִּבְּד֛וּ hardened kib·bə·ḏū לִבָּ֑ם theirs ? lib·bām כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר When ka·’ă·šer הִתְעַלֵּ֣ל He afflicted hiṯ·‘al·lêl בָּהֶ֔ם them , bā·hem הֲלוֹא֙ did they not hă·lō·w וַֽיְשַׁלְּח֖וּם send the people on their way way·šal·lə·ḥūm וַיֵּלֵֽכוּ׃ as they departed ? way·yê·lê·ḵū 1 Samuel 6:7 וְעַתָּ֗ה Now, therefore , wə·‘at·tāh קְח֨וּ . . . qə·ḥū וַעֲשׂ֜וּ prepare wa·‘ă·śū אֶחָ֔ת one ’e·ḥāṯ חֲדָשָׁה֙ new ḥă·ḏā·šāh
