דָג֜וֹן of Dagon ḏā·ḡō·wn וְכָֽל־ and all wə·ḵāl הַבָּאִ֧ים who enter hab·bā·’îm בֵּית־ the temple bêṯ- דָּג֛וֹן of Dagon dā·ḡō·wn בְּאַשְׁדּ֑וֹד in Ashdod bə·’aš·dō·wḏ לֹֽא־ do not lō- יִדְרְכוּ֩ step yiḏ·rə·ḵū עַל־ on ‘al- מִפְתַּ֥ן the threshold mip̄·tan דָּג֖וֹן . . . . dā·ḡō·wn 1 Samuel 5:6 יַד־ Now the hand yaḏ- יְהוָ֛ה of YHWH Yah·weh וַתִּכְבַּ֧ד was heavy wat·tiḵ·baḏ אֶל־ on ’el- הָאַשְׁדּוֹדִ֖ים the people of Ashdod hā·’aš·dō·w·ḏîm וְאֶת־ and wə·’eṯ- גְּבוּלֶֽיהָ׃ its vicinity , gə·ḇū·le·hā וַיְשִׁמֵּ֑ם ravaging them way·šim·mêm וַיַּ֤ךְ and afflicting way·yaḵ אֹתָם֙ them ’ō·ṯām בָּעֳפָלִים with tumors bå̄·ʿo·p̄å̄·līm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אַשְׁדּ֖וֹד - . ’aš·dō·wḏ 1 Samuel 5:7 אַנְשֵֽׁי־ And when the men ’an·šê- אַשְׁדּ֖וֹד of Ashdod ’aš·dō·wḏ וַיִּרְא֥וּ saw way·yir·’ū כִּֽי־ what was happening kî- כֵ֑ן . . . , ḵên וְאָמְר֗וּ they said , wə·’ā·mə·rū אֲר֨וֹן “ The ark ’ă·rō·wn אֱלֹהֵ֤י of the God ’ĕ·lō·hê יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel yiś·rā·’êl לֹֽא־ must not lō- יֵשֵׁ֞ב stay yê·šêḇ עִמָּ֔נוּ here with us , ‘im·mā·nū כִּֽי־ because kî- יָדוֹ֙ His hand yā·ḏōw קָשְׁתָ֤ה is heavy qā·šə·ṯāh עָלֵ֔ינוּ upon us ‘ā·lê·nū וְעַ֖ל and upon wə·‘al אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ our god ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū דָּג֥וֹן Dagon .” dā·ḡō·wn 1 Samuel 5:8 וַיִּשְׁלְח֡וּ - way·yiš·lə·ḥū וַיַּאַסְפוּ֩ So they called together way·ya·’as·p̄ū כָּל־ all kāl- אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם . . . ’ă·lê·hem סַרְנֵ֨י the rulers sar·nê פְלִשְׁתִּ֜ים of the Philistines p̄ə·liš·tîm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ and asked , way·yō·mə·rū מַֽה־ “ What mah- נַּעֲשֶׂ֗ה shall we do na·‘ă·śeh לַֽאֲרוֹן֙ with the ark la·’ă·rō·wn אֱלֹהֵ֣י of the God of ’ĕ·lō·hê יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel ?” yiś·rā·’êl אֲר֖וֹן “ [It] ’ă·rō·wn אֱלֹהֵ֣י . . . ’ĕ·lō·hê יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl יִסֹּ֔ב must be moved yis·sōḇ גַּ֣ת to Gath , ” gaṯ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ they replied . way·yō·mə·rū וַיַּסֵּ֕בּוּ So they carried away way·yas·sêb·bū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אֲר֖וֹן the ark ’ă·rō·wn אֱלֹהֵ֥י of the God ’ĕ·lō·hê יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ס of Israel . yiś·rā·’êl 1 Samuel 5:9 אַחֲרֵ֣י׀ But after ’a·ḥă·rê הֵסַ֣בּוּ they had moved hê·sab·bū אֹת֗וֹ [the ark to Gath] , ’ō·ṯōw וַתְּהִ֨י . . . wat·tə·hî יְהוָ֤ה׀ YHWH’s Yah·weh יַד־ hand yaḏ- וַיְהִ֞י was also way·hî בָּעִיר֙ against that city , bā·‘îr מְהוּמָה֙ throwing it into great confusion mə·hū·māh גְּדוֹלָ֣ה . . . gə·ḏō·w·lāh מְאֹ֔ד . . . mə·’ōḏ וַיַּךְ֙ and afflicting way·yaḵ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אַנְשֵׁ֣י the men ’an·šê הָעִ֔יר of the city , hā·‘îr מִקָּטֹ֖ן both young miq·qā·ṭōn וְעַד־ and wə·‘aḏ- גָּד֑וֹל old , gā·ḏō·wl וַיִּשָּׂתְר֥וּ with an outbreak way·yiś·śā·ṯə·rū לָהֶ֖ם . . . lā·hem עֳפָלִים׃ of tumors . ʿo·p̄å̄·līm
