1 Samuel 5:10 וַֽיְשַׁלְּח֛וּ So they sent way·šal·lə·ḥū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אֲר֥וֹן the ark ’ă·rō·wn הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים of God hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm עֶקְר֑וֹן to Ekron , ‘eq·rō·wn וַיְהִ֗י . . . way·hî אֲר֤וֹן but as it ’ă·rō·wn הָאֱלֹהִים֙ . . . hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm כְּב֨וֹא arrived kə·ḇō·w עֶקְר֔וֹן - , ‘eq·rō·wn הָֽעֶקְרֹנִ֜ים the Ekronites hā·‘eq·rō·nîm לֵאמֹ֗ר . . . lê·mōr וַיִּזְעֲק֨וּ cried out , way·yiz·‘ă·qū הֵסַ֤בּוּ “ They have brought hê·sab·bū אֵלַי֙ us ’ê·lay אֲרוֹן֙ the ark ’ă·rō·wn אֱלֹהֵ֣י of the God ’ĕ·lō·hê יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl אֶת־ - ’eṯ- לַהֲמִיתֵ֖נִי in order to kill us la·hă·mî·ṯê·nî וְאֶת־ and wə·’eṯ- עַמִּֽי׃ our people !” ‘am·mî 1 Samuel 5:11 וַיִּשְׁלְח֨וּ vvv way·yiš·lə·ḥū וַיַּאַסְפ֜וּ Then [the Ekronites] assembled way·ya·’as·p̄ū כָּל־ all kāl- סַרְנֵ֣י the rulers sar·nê פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים of the Philistines p̄ə·liš·tîm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ and said , way·yō·mə·rū שַׁלְּח֞וּ “ Send away šal·lə·ḥū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אֲר֨וֹן the ark ’ă·rō·wn אֱלֹהֵ֤י of the God ’ĕ·lō·hê יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel . yiś·rā·’êl וְיָשֹׁ֣ב It must return wə·yā·šōḇ לִמְקֹמ֔וֹ to its place , lim·qō·mōw וְלֹֽא־ so that it will not wə·lō- יָמִ֥ית kill yā·mîṯ אֹתִ֖י us ’ō·ṯî וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- עַמִּ֑י and our people !” ‘am·mî כִּֽי־ For kî- מָ֙וֶת֙ a deadly mā·weṯ מְהֽוּמַת־ confusion mə·hū·maṯ- הָיְתָ֤ה had pervaded hā·yə·ṯāh בְּכָל־ . . . bə·ḵāl הָעִ֔יר the city ; hā·‘îr יַ֥ד the hand yaḏ הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים of God hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm כָּבְדָ֥ה was heavy kā·ḇə·ḏāh מְאֹ֛ד . . . mə·’ōḏ שָֽׁם׃ upon it . šām 1 Samuel 5:12 וְהָֽאֲנָשִׁים֙ Those wə·hā·’ă·nā·šîm אֲשֶׁ֣ר who ’ă·šer לֹא־ did not lō- מֵ֔תוּ die mê·ṯū הֻכּ֖וּ were afflicted huk·kū בָּעֳפָלִים with tumors , bå̄·ʿo·p̄å̄·līm שַֽׁוְעַ֥ת and the outcry šaw·‘aṯ הָעִ֖יר of the city hā·‘îr וַתַּ֛עַל went up wat·ta·‘al הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ to heaven . haš·šā·mā·yim 1 Samuel 6:1 אֲרוֹן־ When the ark ’ă·rō·wn- יְהוָ֛ה of YHWH Yah·weh וַיְהִ֧י had been way·hî בִּשְׂדֵ֥ה in the land biś·ḏêh פְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים of the Philistines p̄ə·liš·tîm שִׁבְעָ֥ה seven šiḇ·‘āh חֳדָשִֽׁים׃ months , ḥo·ḏā·šîm 1 Samuel 6:2 פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים the Philistines p̄ə·liš·tîm וַיִּקְרְא֣וּ summoned way·yiq·rə·’ū לַכֹּהֲנִ֤ים the priests lak·kō·hă·nîm וְלַקֹּֽסְמִים֙ and diviners , wə·laq·qō·sə·mîm לֵאמֹ֔ר saying , lê·mōr מַֽה־ “ What mah- נַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה shall we do na·‘ă·śeh לַאֲר֣וֹן with the ark la·’ă·rō·wn יְהוָ֑ה of YHWH ? Yah·weh הוֹדִעֻ֕נוּ Tell us hō·w·ḏi·‘u·nū בַּמֶּ֖ה how bam·meh נְשַׁלְּחֶ֥נּוּ to send it back nə·šal·lə·ḥen·nū לִמְקוֹמֽוֹ׃ to its place .” lim·qō·w·mōw
