שֹׁ֥לֵֽף armed šō·lêp̄ חָֽרֶב׃פ with swords . ḥā·reḇ Judges 20:3 בְּנֵ֣י ( Meanwhile the Benjamites bə·nê בִנְיָמִ֔ן . . . ḇin·yā·min וַֽיִּשְׁמְעוּ֙ heard way·yiš·mə·‘ū כִּֽי־ that kî- בְנֵֽי־ the Israelites ḇə·nê- יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl עָל֥וּ had gone up ‘ā·lū הַמִּצְפָּ֑ה to Mizpah . ) ham·miṣ·pāh בְּנֵ֣י And the Israelites bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ asked , way·yō·mə·rū דַּבְּר֕וּ “ Tell dab·bə·rū אֵיכָ֥ה us, how ’ê·ḵāh הַזֹּֽאת׃ did this haz·zōṯ הָרָעָ֥ה wicked thing hā·rā·‘āh נִהְיְתָ֖ה happen ? ” nih·yə·ṯāh Judges 20:4 הַלֵּוִ֗י So the Levite , hal·lê·wî אִ֛ישׁ . . . ’îš הָאִ֣ישׁ the husband hā·’îš הַנִּרְצָחָ֖ה of the murdered han·nir·ṣā·ḥāh וַיֹּאמַ֑ר . . . way·yō·mar הָאִשָּׁ֥ה woman , hā·’iš·šāh וַיַּ֜עַן answered : way·ya·‘an אֲנִ֥י “ I ’ă·nî וּפִֽילַגְשִׁ֖י and my concubine ū·p̄î·laḡ·šî בָּ֛אתִי came bā·ṯî הַגִּבְעָ֙תָה֙ to Gibeah hag·giḇ·‘ā·ṯāh אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer לְבִנְיָמִ֔ן in Benjamin lə·ḇin·yā·min לָלֽוּן׃ to spend the night . lā·lūn Judges 20:5 לָ֑יְלָה And during the night , lā·yə·lāh בַּעֲלֵ֣י the men ba·‘ă·lê הַגִּבְעָ֔ה of Gibeah hag·giḇ·‘āh וַיָּקֻ֤מוּ rose up way·yā·qu·mū עָלַי֙ against me ‘ā·lay וַיָּסֹ֧בּוּ and surrounded way·yā·sōb·bū עָלַ֛י . . . ‘ā·lay אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַבַּ֖יִת the house . hab·ba·yiṯ אוֹתִי֙ - ’ō·w·ṯî דִּמּ֣וּ They intended dim·mū לַהֲרֹ֔ג to kill me , la·hă·rōḡ וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- עִנּ֖וּ but they abused ‘in·nū פִּילַגְשִׁ֥י my concubine , pî·laḡ·šî וַתָּמֹֽת׃ and she died . wat·tā·mōṯ Judges 20:6 וָֽאֹחֵ֤ז Then I took wā·’ō·ḥêz בְּפִֽילַגְשִׁי֙ my concubine , bə·p̄î·laḡ·šî וָֽאֲנַתְּחֶ֔הָ cut her into pieces , wā·’ă·nat·tə·ḥe·hā וָֽאֲשַׁלְּחֶ֔הָ and sent her wā·’ă·šal·lə·ḥe·hā בְּכָל־ throughout bə·ḵāl שְׂדֵ֖ה the land śə·ḏêh יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel’s yiś·rā·’êl נַחֲלַ֣ת inheritance , na·ḥă·laṯ כִּ֥י because kî עָשׂ֛וּ they had committed ‘ā·śū זִמָּ֥ה a lewd zim·māh וּנְבָלָ֖ה and disgraceful act ū·nə·ḇā·lāh בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ in Israel . bə·yiś·rā·’êl Judges 20:7 הִנֵּ֥ה Behold , hin·nêh כֻלְּכֶ֖ם all ḵul·lə·ḵem בְּנֵ֣י you Israelites bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל . . . , yiś·rā·’êl הָב֥וּ give hā·ḇū לָכֶ֛ם your lā·ḵem דָּבָ֥ר advice dā·ḇār וְעֵצָ֖ה and verdict wə·‘ê·ṣāh הֲלֹֽם׃ here and now . ” hă·lōm Judges 20:8 כָּל־ Then all kāl- הָעָ֔ם the people hā·‘ām וַיָּ֙קָם֙ stood way·yā·qām אֶחָ֖ד as one ’e·ḥāḏ כְּאִ֥ישׁ man kə·’îš לֵאמֹ֑ר and said , lê·mōr לֹ֤א “ Not one lō אִ֣ישׁ . . . ’îš נֵלֵךְ֙ of us will return nê·lêḵ לְאָהֳל֔וֹ to his tent lə·’ā·ho·lōw וְלֹ֥א . . . wə·lō נָס֖וּר [or] nā·sūr
