וּשְׁמָ֖הּ whose name ū·šə·māh דְּלִילָֽה׃ was Delilah . də·lî·lāh Judges 16:5 סַרְנֵ֣י The lords sar·nê פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים of the Philistines p̄ə·liš·tîm וַיַּעֲל֨וּ went way·ya·‘ă·lū אֵלֶ֜יהָ to her ’ê·le·hā וַיֹּ֨אמְרוּ and said way·yō·mə·rū לָ֜הּ , lāh פַּתִּ֣י “ Entice pat·tî אוֹת֗וֹ him ’ō·w·ṯōw וּרְאִי֙ and find out ū·rə·’î בַּמֶּה֙ the source of bam·meh גָד֔וֹל his great ḡā·ḏō·wl כֹּח֣וֹ strength kō·ḥōw וּבַמֶּה֙ and how ū·ḇam·meh נ֣וּכַל we can overpower nū·ḵal ל֔וֹ him lōw וַאֲסַרְנֻ֖הוּ to tie him up wa·’ă·sar·nu·hū לְעַנֹּת֑וֹ and subdue him . lə·‘an·nō·ṯōw אִ֕ישׁ Then each one ’îš וַאֲנַ֙חְנוּ֙ of us wa·’ă·naḥ·nū נִתַּן־ will give nit·tan- לָ֔ךְ you lāḵ אֶ֥לֶף eleven hundred [shekels] ’e·lep̄ וּמֵאָ֖ה . . . ū·mê·’āh כָּֽסֶף׃ of silver . ” kā·sep̄ Judges 16:6 דְּלִילָה֙ So Delilah də·lî·lāh וַתֹּ֤אמֶר said wat·tō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- שִׁמְשׁ֔וֹן Samson , šim·šō·wn נָּ֣א “ Please nā הַגִּֽידָה־ tell hag·gî·ḏāh- לִ֔י me lî בַּמֶּ֖ה the source bam·meh גָד֑וֹל of your great ḡā·ḏō·wl כֹּחֲךָ֣ strength kō·ḥă·ḵā וּבַמֶּ֥ה and how ū·ḇam·meh תֵאָסֵ֖ר you can be tied up ṯê·’ā·sêr לְעַנּוֹתֶֽךָ׃ and subdued . ” lə·‘an·nō·w·ṯe·ḵā Judges 16:7 שִׁמְשׁ֔וֹן Samson šim·šō·wn וַיֹּ֤אמֶר told her , way·yō·mer אֵלֶ֙יהָ֙ . . . ’ê·le·hā אִם־ “ If ’im- יַאַסְרֻ֗נִי they tie me up ya·’as·ru·nî בְּשִׁבְעָ֛ה with seven bə·šiḇ·‘āh לַחִ֖ים fresh la·ḥîm יְתָרִ֥ים bowstrings yə·ṯā·rîm אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ’ă·šer לֹא־ have not lō- חֹרָ֑בוּ been dried , ḥō·rå̄·ḇū וְחָלִ֥יתִי I will become as weak wə·ḥā·lî·ṯî וְהָיִ֖יתִי . . . wə·hā·yî·ṯî כְּאַחַ֥ד as any kə·’a·ḥaḏ הָאָדָֽם׃ other man . ” hā·’ā·ḏām Judges 16:8 סַרְנֵ֣י So the lords sar·nê פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים of the Philistines p̄ə·liš·tîm וַיַּעֲלוּ־ brought way·ya·‘ă·lū- לָ֞הּ her lāh שִׁבְעָ֛ה seven šiḇ·‘āh לַחִ֖ים fresh la·ḥîm יְתָרִ֥ים bowstrings yə·ṯā·rîm אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ’ă·šer לֹא־ had not lō- חֹרָ֑בוּ been dried , ḥō·rā·ḇū וַתַּאַסְרֵ֖הוּ and she tied him up wat·ta·’as·rê·hū בָּהֶֽם׃ with them . bā·hem Judges 16:9 וְהָאֹרֵ֗ב While the men wə·hā·’ō·rêḇ יֹשֵׁ֥ב were hidden yō·šêḇ לָהּ֙ in her lāh בַּחֶ֔דֶר room , ba·ḥe·ḏer וַתֹּ֣אמֶר she called out wat·tō·mer אֵלָ֔יו - , ’ê·lāw שִׁמְשׁ֑וֹן “ Samson , šim·šō·wn פְּלִשְׁתִּ֥ים the Philistines [are] pə·liš·tîm עָלֶ֖יךָ here ! ” ‘ā·le·ḵā וַיְנַתֵּק֙ But he snapped way·nat·têq אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַיְתָרִ֔ים the bowstrings hay·ṯā·rîm כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר like ka·’ă·šer פְּתִֽיל־ a strand pə·ṯîl- הַנְּעֹ֙רֶת֙ of yarn han·nə·‘ō·reṯ יִנָּתֵ֤ק seared yin·nā·ṯêq בַּהֲרִיח֣וֹ . . . ba·hă·rî·ḥōw אֵ֔שׁ by a flame . ’êš כֹּחֽוֹ׃ So the source of his strength kō·ḥōw
