רוּח֖וֹ his strength rū·ḥōw וַתָּ֥שָׁב returned , wat·tā·šāḇ וַיֶּ֑חִי and he was revived . way·ye·ḥî עַל־ That is why ‘al- כֵּ֣ן׀ . . . kên קָרָ֣א he named it qā·rā שְׁמָ֗הּ . . . šə·māh עֵ֤ין vvv ‘ên הַקּוֹרֵא֙ En-hakkore , haq·qō·w·rê אֲשֶׁ֣ר and it remains ’ă·šer בַּלֶּ֔חִי in Lehi bal·le·ḥî עַ֖ד to ‘aḏ הַזֶּֽה׃ this haz·zeh הַיּ֥וֹם day . hay·yō·wm Judges 15:20 וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֧ט And [Samson] judged way·yiš·pōṭ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl עֶשְׂרִ֥ים for twenty ‘eś·rîm שָׁנָֽה׃פ years šā·nāh בִּימֵ֥י in the days bî·mê פְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים of the Philistines . p̄ə·liš·tîm Judges 16:1 שִׁמְשׁ֖וֹן One day Samson šim·šō·wn וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ went way·yê·leḵ עַזָּ֑תָה to Gaza , ‘az·zā·ṯāh שָׁם֙ where šām אִשָּׁ֣ה . . . ’iš·šāh וַיַּרְא־ he saw way·yar- זוֹנָ֔ה a prostitute zō·w·nāh וַיָּבֹ֖א and went in to spend the night way·yā·ḇō אֵלֶֽיהָ׃ with her . ’ê·le·hā Judges 16:2 לַֽעַזָּתִ֣ים׀ When the Gazites la·‘az·zā·ṯîm לֵאמֹ֗ר heard that lê·mōr שִׁמְשׁוֹן֙ Samson šim·šō·wn בָּ֤א was bā הֵ֔נָּה there , hên·nāh וַיָּסֹ֛בּוּ they surrounded [that place] way·yā·sōb·bū וַיֶּאֶרְבוּ־ and lay in wait way·ye·’er·ḇū- ל֥וֹ for him lōw כָל־ all ḵāl הַלַּ֖יְלָה night hal·lay·lāh הָעִ֑יר at the city hā·‘îr בְּשַׁ֣עַר gate . bə·ša·‘ar וַיִּתְחָרְשׁ֤וּ They were quiet way·yiṯ·ḥā·rə·šū כָל־ throughout ḵāl הַלַּ֙יְלָה֙ the night , hal·lay·lāh לֵאמֹ֔ר saying , lê·mōr עַד־ “ Let us wait until ‘aḏ- א֥וֹר dawn ’ō·wr הַבֹּ֖קֶר . . . ; hab·bō·qer וַהֲרְגְנֻֽהוּ׃ then we will kill him . ” wa·hăr·ḡə·nu·hū Judges 16:3 שִׁמְשׁוֹן֮ But Samson šim·šō·wn וַיִּשְׁכַּ֣ב lay there way·yiš·kaḇ עַד־ only until ‘aḏ- חֲצִ֣י midnight ḥă·ṣî הַלַּיְלָה֒ . . . , hal·lay·lāh וַיָּ֣קָם׀ when he got up way·yā·qām בַּחֲצִ֣י - ba·ḥă·ṣî הַלַּ֗יְלָה - , hal·lay·lāh וַיֶּאֱחֹ֞ז took hold way·ye·’ĕ·ḥōz בְּדַלְת֤וֹת of the doors bə·ḏal·ṯō·wṯ הָעִיר֙ of the city hā·‘îr שַֽׁעַר־ gate ša·‘ar- וּבִשְׁתֵּ֣י and both ū·ḇiš·tê הַמְּזוּז֔וֹת gateposts , ham·mə·zū·zō·wṯ וַיִּסָּעֵם֙ and pulled them out , way·yis·sā·‘êm הַבְּרִ֔יחַ bar hab·bə·rî·aḥ עִֽם־ and all . ‘im- וַיָּ֖שֶׂם Then he put [them] way·yā·śem עַל־ on ‘al- כְּתֵפָ֑יו his shoulders kə·ṯê·p̄āw וַֽיַּעֲלֵם֙ and took them way·ya·‘ă·lêm אֶל־ to ’el- רֹ֣אשׁ the top rōš הָהָ֔ר of the mountain hā·hār אֲשֶׁ֖ר - ’ă·šer עַל־ overlooking ‘al- פְּנֵ֥י . . . pə·nê חֶבְרֽוֹן׃פ Hebron . ḥeḇ·rō·wn Judges 16:4 וַֽיְהִי֙ - way·hî אַחֲרֵי־ Some time later ’a·ḥă·rê- כֵ֔ן . . . , ḵên וַיֶּאֱהַ֥ב [Samson] fell in love with way·ye·’ĕ·haḇ אִשָּׁ֖ה a woman ’iš·šāh בְּנַ֣חַל in the Valley bə·na·ḥal שֹׂרֵ֑ק of Sorek , śō·rêq
