בִּיהוּדָ֑ה in Judah , bî·hū·ḏāh וַיִּנָּטְשׁ֖וּ and deployed themselves way·yin·nā·ṭə·šū בַּלֶּֽחִי׃ near [the town of] Lehi . bal·le·ḥî Judges 15:10 לָמָ֖ה “ Why lā·māh עֲלִיתֶ֣ם have you attacked ‘ă·lî·ṯem עָלֵ֑ינוּ us ? ” ‘ā·lê·nū וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ said way·yō·mə·rū אִ֣ישׁ the men ’îš יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah . yə·hū·ḏāh וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ The Philistines replied , way·yō·mə·rū עָלִ֔ינוּ “ We have come ‘ā·lî·nū לֶאֱס֤וֹר to arrest le·’ĕ·sō·wr אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שִׁמְשׁוֹן֙ Samson šim·šō·wn לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת and pay him back la·‘ă·śō·wṯ ל֔וֹ lōw כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר for what ka·’ă·šer עָ֥שָׂה he has done ‘ā·śāh לָֽנוּ׃ to us . ” lā·nū Judges 15:11 שְׁלֹשֶׁת֩ In response, three šə·lō·šeṯ אֲלָפִ֨ים thousand ’ă·lā·p̄îm אִ֜ישׁ men ’îš מִֽיהוּדָ֗ה of Judah mî·hū·ḏāh וַיֵּרְד֡וּ went way·yê·rə·ḏū אֶל־ to ’el- סְעִיף֮ the cave sə·‘îp̄ סֶ֣לַע at the rock se·la‘ עֵיטָם֒ of Etam , ‘ê·ṭām וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ and they asked way·yō·mə·rū לְשִׁמְשׁ֗וֹן Samson , lə·šim·šō·wn הֲלֹ֤א “ Do you not hă·lō יָדַ֙עְתָּ֙ realize yā·ḏa‘·tā כִּֽי־ that kî- פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים the Philistines pə·liš·tîm מֹשְׁלִ֥ים rule mō·šə·lîm בָּ֙נוּ֙ over us ? bā·nū וּמַה־ What ū·mah- זֹּ֖את . . . zōṯ עָשִׂ֣יתָ have you done ‘ā·śî·ṯā לָּ֑נוּ to us ? ” lā·nū עָ֣שׂוּ “ I have done ‘ā·śū לָהֶֽם׃ to them lā·hem כֵּ֖ן what kên כַּאֲשֶׁר֙ - ka·’ă·šer עָשִׂ֥יתִי they did ‘ā·śî·ṯî לִ֔י to me , ” lî וַיֹּ֣אמֶר he replied way·yō·mer לָהֶ֔ם . lā·hem Judges 15:12 וַיֹּ֤אמְרוּ But they said way·yō·mə·rū לוֹ֙ to him , lōw יָרַ֔דְנוּ “ We have come down yā·raḏ·nū לֶאֱסָרְךָ֣ to arrest you le·’ĕ·sā·rə·ḵā לְתִתְּךָ֖ and hand you over to lə·ṯit·tə·ḵā בְּיַד־ . . . bə·yaḏ- פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים the Philistines . ” pə·liš·tîm שִׁמְשׁ֔וֹן Samson šim·šō·wn וַיֹּ֤אמֶר replied way·yō·mer לָהֶם֙ , lā·hem הִשָּׁבְע֣וּ “ Swear hiš·šā·ḇə·‘ū לִ֔י to me lî אַתֶּֽם׃ - ’at·tem פֶּֽן־ that pen- תִּפְגְּע֥וּן you will not kill me tip̄·gə·‘ūn בִּ֖י {yourselves} . ” bî Judges 15:13 לֹ֚א “ No , ” lō וַיֹּ֧אמְרוּ they answered way·yō·mə·rū ל֣וֹ , lōw לֵאמֹ֗ר - lê·mōr לֹ֣א “ we will not lō נְמִיתֶ֑ךָ . . . nə·mî·ṯe·ḵā וְהָמֵ֖ת kill you , wə·hā·mêṯ כִּֽי־ but kî- אָסֹ֤ר we will tie you up securely ’ā·sōr נֶֽאֱסָרְךָ֙ . . . ne·’ĕ·sā·rə·ḵā וּנְתַנּ֣וּךָ and hand you over to ū·nə·ṯan·nū·ḵā בְיָדָ֔ם them . ” ḇə·yā·ḏām וַיַּאַסְרֻ֗הוּ So they bound him way·ya·’as·ru·hū בִּשְׁנַ֙יִם֙ with two biš·na·yim חֲדָשִׁ֔ים new ḥă·ḏā·šîm עֲבֹתִ֣ים ropes ‘ă·ḇō·ṯîm וַֽיַּעֲל֖וּהוּ and led him up way·ya·‘ă·lū·hū מִן־ from min- הַסָּֽלַע׃ the rock . has·sā·la‘ Judges 15:14 הוּא־ When hū- בָ֣א [Samson] arrived ḇā
