אֱלֹהִ֖ים [both] God ’ĕ·lō·hîm וַאֲנָשִׁ֑ים and man , wa·’ă·nā·šîm וְהָ֣לַכְתִּ֔י to hold wə·hā·laḵ·tî לָנ֖וּעַ sway lā·nū·a‘ עַל־ over ‘al- הָעֵצִֽים׃ the trees ? ’ hā·‘ê·ṣîm Judges 9:14 כָל־ Finally all ḵāl הָעֵצִ֖ים the trees hā·‘ê·ṣîm וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ said way·yō·mə·rū אֶל־ to ’el- הָאָטָ֑ד the thornbush , hā·’ā·ṭāḏ לֵ֥ךְ ‘ Come lêḵ אַתָּ֖ה . . . ’at·tāh מְלָךְ־ and reign mə·lāḵ- עָלֵֽינוּ׃ over us . ’ ‘ā·lê·nū Judges 9:15 הָאָטָד֮ But the thornbush hā·’ā·ṭāḏ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר replied way·yō·mer אֶל־ - ’el- הָעֵצִים֒ - , hā·‘ê·ṣîm אִ֡ם ‘ If ’im אַתֶּם֩ you ’at·tem בֶּאֱמֶ֣ת really be·’ĕ·meṯ מֹשְׁחִ֨ים are anointing me mō·šə·ḥîm אֹתִ֤י - ’ō·ṯî לְמֶ֙לֶךְ֙ as king lə·me·leḵ עֲלֵיכֶ֔ם over you , ‘ă·lê·ḵem בֹּ֖אוּ come bō·’ū חֲס֣וּ and find refuge ḥă·sū בְצִלִּ֑י in my shade . ḇə·ṣil·lî וְאִם־ But if wə·’im- אַ֕יִן not , ’a·yin אֵשׁ֙ may fire ’êš תֵּ֤צֵא come out tê·ṣê מִן־ of min- הָ֣אָטָ֔ד the thornbush hā·’ā·ṭāḏ וְתֹאכַ֖ל and consume wə·ṯō·ḵal אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אַרְזֵ֥י the cedars ’ar·zê הַלְּבָנֽוֹן׃ of Lebanon . ’ hal·lə·ḇā·nō·wn Judges 9:16 וְעַתָּ֗ה Now wə·‘at·tāh אִם־ if ’im- עֲשִׂיתֶ֔ם you have acted ‘ă·śî·ṯem בֶּאֱמֶ֤ת faithfully be·’ĕ·meṯ וּבְתָמִים֙ and honestly ū·ḇə·ṯā·mîm אֲבִימֶ֑לֶךְ in making Abimelech ’ă·ḇî·me·leḵ וַתַּמְלִ֖יכוּ king , wat·tam·lî·ḵū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וְאִם־ if wə·’im- טוֹבָ֤ה . . . ṭō·w·ḇāh עֲשִׂיתֶם֙ you have done well ‘ă·śî·ṯem עִם־ by ‘im- יְרֻבַּ֣עַל Jerubbaal yə·rub·ba·‘al וְעִם־ . . . wə·‘im- בֵּית֔וֹ and his family , bê·ṯōw וְאִם־ and if wə·’im- עֲשִׂ֥יתֶם you have done ‘ă·śî·ṯem לֽוֹ׃ to him lōw יָדָ֖יו as he yā·ḏāw כִּגְמ֥וּל deserves — kiḡ·mūl Judges 9:17 אֲשֶׁר־ for ’ă·šer- אָבִ֖י my father ’ā·ḇî נִלְחַ֥ם fought nil·ḥam עֲלֵיכֶ֑ם for you ‘ă·lê·ḵem וַיַּשְׁלֵ֤ךְ and risked way·yaš·lêḵ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- מִנֶּ֔גֶד - min·ne·ḡeḏ נַפְשׁוֹ֙ his life nap̄·šōw וַיַּצֵּ֥ל to deliver way·yaṣ·ṣêl אֶתְכֶ֖ם you ’eṯ·ḵem מִיַּ֥ד from the hand mî·yaḏ מִדְיָֽן׃ of Midian , miḏ·yān Judges 9:18 וְאַתֶּ֞ם but you wə·’at·tem קַמְתֶּ֨ם have risen up qam·tem עַל־ against ‘al- אָבִי֙ my father’s ’ā·ḇî בֵּ֤ית house bêṯ הַיּ֔וֹם this day hay·yō·wm וַתַּהַרְג֧וּ and killed wat·ta·har·ḡū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שִׁבְעִ֥ים his seventy šiḇ·‘îm אִ֖ישׁ . . . ’îš בָּנָ֛יו sons bā·nāw עַל־ on ‘al- אֶחָ֑ת a single ’e·ḥāṯ אֶ֣בֶן stone , ’e·ḇen
