Judges 8:21 זֶ֣בַח Then Zebah ze·ḇaḥ וְצַלְמֻנָּ֗ע and Zalmunna wə·ṣal·mun·nā‘ וַיֹּ֜אמֶר said , way·yō·mer ק֤וּם “ Get up qūm וּפְגַע־ and kill ū·p̄ə·ḡa‘- בָּ֔נוּ us bā·nū אַתָּה֙ yourself , ’at·tāh כִּ֥י for kî כָאִ֖ישׁ as the man is , ḵā·’îš גְּבוּרָת֑וֹ so is his strength . ” gə·ḇū·rā·ṯōw גִּדְע֗וֹן So Gideon giḏ·‘ō·wn וַיָּ֣קָם got up way·yā·qām וַֽיַּהֲרֹג֙ and killed way·ya·hă·rōḡ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- זֶ֣בַח Zebah ze·ḇaḥ וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- צַלְמֻנָּ֔ע and Zalmunna , ṣal·mun·nā‘ וַיִּקַּח֙ and he took way·yiq·qaḥ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַשַּׂ֣הֲרֹנִ֔ים the crescent ornaments haś·śa·hă·rō·nîm אֲשֶׁ֖ר - ’ă·šer בְּצַוְּארֵ֥י from the necks bə·ṣaw·wə·rê גְמַלֵּיהֶֽם׃ of their camels . ḡə·mal·lê·hem Judges 8:22 אִֽישׁ־ Then the Israelites ’îš- יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ . . . yiś·rā·’êl וַיֹּאמְר֤וּ said way·yō·mə·rū אֶל־ to ’el- גִּדְע֔וֹן Gideon , giḏ·‘ō·wn מְשָׁל־ “ Rule mə·šāl- בָּ֙נוּ֙ over us — bā·nū אַתָּ֔ה you ’at·tāh גַּם־ and gam- בִּנְךָ֖ your son bin·ḵā גַּ֣ם . . . gam גַּם־ and gam- בֶּן־ grandson ben- בְּנֶ֑ךָ . . . — bə·ne·ḵā כִּ֥י for kî הוֹשַׁעְתָּ֖נוּ you have saved us hō·wō·ša‘·tā·nū מִיַּ֥ד from the hand mî·yaḏ מִדְיָֽן׃ of Midian . ” miḏ·yān Judges 8:23 גִּדְע֔וֹן But Gideon giḏ·‘ō·wn וַיֹּ֤אמֶר replied way·yō·mer אֲלֵהֶם֙ . . . , ’ă·lê·hem אֲנִי֙ “ I ’ă·nî לֹֽא־ will not lō- אֶמְשֹׁ֤ל rule ’em·šōl בָּכֶ֔ם over you , bā·ḵem וְלֹֽא־ nor wə·lō- יִמְשֹׁ֥ל will yim·šōl בְּנִ֖י my son bə·nî בָּכֶ֑ם - . bā·ḵem יְהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh יִמְשֹׁ֥ל shall rule yim·šōl בָּכֶֽם׃ over you . ” bā·ḵem Judges 8:24 גִּדְע֗וֹן Then he giḏ·‘ō·wn וַיֹּ֨אמֶר added way·yō·mer אֲלֵהֶ֜ם - , ’ă·lê·hem אֶשְׁאֲלָ֤ה “ Let me make a request ’eš·’ă·lāh שְׁאֵלָ֔ה . . . šə·’ê·lāh מִכֶּם֙ of you , mik·kem אִ֖ישׁ that each of you ’îš וּתְנוּ־ give ū·ṯə·nū- לִ֕י me lî נֶ֣זֶם an earring ne·zem שְׁלָל֑וֹ from his plunder . ” šə·lā·lōw כִּֽי־ ( For kî- זָהָב֙ [the enemies] had gold zā·hāḇ לָהֶ֔ם lā·hem נִזְמֵ֤י earrings niz·mê כִּ֥י because kî הֵֽם׃ they hêm יִשְׁמְעֵאלִ֖ים were Ishmaelites . ) yiš·mə·‘ê·lîm Judges 8:25 נִתֵּ֑ן “ We will give [them] nit·tên נָת֣וֹן gladly , ” nā·ṯō·wn וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ they replied . way·yō·mə·rū וַֽיִּפְרְשׂוּ֙ So they spread out way·yip̄·rə·śū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַשִּׂמְלָ֔ה a garment , haś·śim·lāh אִ֖ישׁ and each man ’îš וַיַּשְׁלִ֣יכוּ threw way·yaš·lî·ḵū נֶ֥זֶם an earring ne·zem שְׁלָלֽוֹ׃ from his plunder šə·lā·lōw שָׁ֔מָּה onto it . šām·māh
