זֶ֣בַח are Zebah ze·ḇaḥ וְצַלְמֻנָּ֑ע and Zalmunna , wə·ṣal·mun·nā‘ אֲשֶׁר֩ about whom ’ă·šer חֵרַפְתֶּ֨ם you taunted ḥê·rap̄·tem אוֹתִ֜י me , ’ō·w·ṯî לֵאמֹ֗ר saying , lê·mōr הֲ֠כַף ‘ [Are] the hands hă·ḵap̄ זֶ֣בַח of Zebah ze·ḇaḥ וְצַלְמֻנָּ֤ע and Zalmunna wə·ṣal·mun·nā‘ עַתָּה֙ already ‘at·tāh בְּיָדֶ֔ךָ in your possession , bə·yā·ḏe·ḵā כִּ֥י that kî נִתֵּ֛ן we should give nit·tên לָֽחֶם׃ bread lā·ḥem הַיְּעֵפִ֖ים to your weary hay·yə·‘ê·p̄îm לַאֲנָשֶׁ֥יךָ men ? ’” la·’ă·nā·še·ḵā Judges 8:16 וַיִּקַּח֙ Then he took way·yiq·qaḥ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- זִקְנֵ֣י the elders ziq·nê הָעִ֔יר of the city , hā·‘îr וְאֶת־ and [using] wə·’eṯ- קוֹצֵ֥י the thorns qō·w·ṣê הַֽבַּרְקֳנִ֑ים and briers hab·bar·qo·nîm הַמִּדְבָּ֖ר of the wilderness ham·miḏ·bār וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- בָּהֶ֔ם - , bā·hem אֵ֖ת - ’êṯ וַיֹּ֣דַע he disciplined way·yō·ḏa‘ אַנְשֵׁ֥י the men ’an·šê סֻכּֽוֹת׃ of Succoth . suk·kō·wṯ Judges 8:17 וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- נָתָ֑ץ He also pulled down nā·ṯāṣ מִגְדַּ֥ל the tower miḡ·dal פְּנוּאֵ֖ל of Penuel pə·nū·’êl וַֽיַּהֲרֹ֖ג and killed way·ya·hă·rōḡ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אַנְשֵׁ֥י the men ’an·šê הָעִֽיר׃ of the city . hā·‘îr Judges 8:18 וַיֹּ֗אמֶר Next, [Gideon] asked way·yō·mer אֶל־ . . . ’el- זֶ֙בַח֙ Zebah ze·ḇaḥ וְאֶל־ . . . wə·’el- צַלְמֻנָּ֔ע and Zalmunna , ṣal·mun·nā‘ אֵיפֹה֙ “ What kind ’ê·p̄ōh הָאֲנָשִׁ֔ים of men hā·’ă·nā·šîm אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer הֲרַגְתֶּ֖ם did you kill hă·raḡ·tem בְּתָב֑וֹר at Tabor ? ” bə·ṯā·ḇō·wr כָּמ֣וֹךָ “ Men like you , ” kā·mō·w·ḵā כְמוֹהֶ֔ם . . . ḵə·mō·w·hem וַֽיֹּאמרוּ֙ they answered , way·yō·m·rū אֶחָ֕ד “ [each] one ’e·ḥāḏ כְּתֹ֖אַר resembling kə·ṯō·’ar בְּנֵ֥י the son bə·nê הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ of a king . ” ham·me·leḵ Judges 8:19 הֵ֑ם “ They hêm אַחַ֥י were my brothers , ” ’a·ḥay וַיֹּאמַ֕ר Gideon replied , way·yō·mar בְּנֵֽי־ “ the sons bə·nê- אִמִּ֖י of my mother ! ’im·mî יְהוָ֗ה As surely as YHWH Yah·weh חַי־ lives , ḥay- ל֚וּ if lū הַחֲיִתֶ֣ם you had let them live , ha·ḥă·yi·ṯem אוֹתָ֔ם - ’ō·w·ṯām לֹ֥א I would not lō הָרַ֖גְתִּי kill hā·raḡ·tî אֶתְכֶֽם׃ you . ” ’eṯ·ḵem Judges 8:20 וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ So he said way·yō·mer לְיֶ֣תֶר to Jether , lə·ye·ṯer בְּכוֹר֔וֹ his firstborn , bə·ḵō·w·rōw ק֖וּם “ Get up qūm הֲרֹ֣ג and kill them . ” hă·rōḡ אוֹתָ֑ם - ’ō·w·ṯām הַנַּ֤עַר But the young man han·na·‘ar וְלֹא־ did not wə·lō- שָׁלַ֨ף draw šā·lap̄ חַרְבּוֹ֙ his sword ; ḥar·bōw כִּ֣י - kî יָרֵ֔א he was fearful yā·rê כִּ֥י because kî עוֹדֶ֖נּוּ he was still ‘ō·w·ḏen·nū נָֽעַר׃ a youth . nā·‘ar
