וְזָהָ֔ב and gold , wə·zā·hāḇ וַעֲבָדִם֙ menservants wa·‘ă·ḇā·ḏim וּשְׁפָחֹ֔ת and maidservants , ū·šə·p̄ā·ḥōṯ וּגְמַלִּ֖ים camels ū·ḡə·mal·lîm וַחֲמֹרִֽים׃ and donkeys . wa·ḥă·mō·rîm Genesis 24:36 אֲדֹנִ֥י My master’s ’ă·ḏō·nî אֵ֨שֶׁת wife ’ê·šeṯ שָׂרָה֩ Sarah śā·rāh וַתֵּ֡לֶד has borne wat·tê·leḏ לַֽאדֹנִ֔י [him] la·ḏō·nî בֵן֙ a son ḇên אַחֲרֵ֖י in ’a·ḥă·rê זִקְנָתָ֑הּ her old age , ziq·nā·ṯāh וַיִּתֶּן־ and [my master] has given way·yit·ten- לּ֖וֹ him lō אֶת־ - ’eṯ- כָּל־ everything he owns kāl- אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- לֽוֹ׃ . lōw Genesis 24:37 אֲדֹנִ֖י My master ’ă·ḏō·nî וַיַּשְׁבִּעֵ֥נִי made me swear an oath way·yaš·bi·‘ê·nî לֵאמֹ֑ר and said , lê·mōr לֹא־ ‘ You shall not lō- תִקַּ֤ח take ṯiq·qaḥ אִשָּׁה֙ a wife ’iš·šāh לִבְנִ֔י for my son liḇ·nî מִבְּנוֹת֙ from the daughters mib·bə·nō·wṯ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔י of the Canaanites hak·kə·na·‘ă·nî אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer בְּאַרְצֽוֹ׃ in whose land bə·’ar·ṣōw אָנֹכִ֖י I ’ā·nō·ḵî יֹשֵׁ֥ב dwell , yō·šêḇ Genesis 24:38 אִם־ but ’im- לֹ֧א . . . lō תֵּלֵ֖ךְ you shall go tê·lêḵ אֶל־ to ’el- אָבִ֛י my father’s ’ā·ḇî בֵּית־ house bêṯ- וְאֶל־ and to wə·’el- מִשְׁפַּחְתִּ֑י my kindred miš·paḥ·tî וְלָקַחְתָּ֥ to take wə·lā·qaḥ·tā אִשָּׁ֖ה a wife ’iš·šāh לִבְנִֽי׃ for my son . ’ liḇ·nî Genesis 24:39 וָאֹמַ֖ר Then I asked wā·’ō·mar אֶל־ . . . ’el- אֲדֹנִ֑י my master , ’ă·ḏō·nî אֻלַ֛י ‘ What if ’u·lay הָאִשָּׁ֖ה the woman hā·’iš·šāh לֹא־ will not lō- תֵלֵ֥ךְ come ṯê·lêḵ אַחֲרָֽי׃ back with me ? ’ ’a·ḥă·rāy Genesis 24:40 וַיֹּ֖אמֶר And he told way·yō·mer אֵלָ֑י me , ’ê·lāy יְהוָ֞ה ‘ YHWH , Yah·weh לְפָנָ֗יו before lə·p̄ā·nāw אֲשֶׁר־ whom ’ă·šer- הִתְהַלַּ֣כְתִּי I have walked , hiṯ·hal·laḵ·tî יִשְׁלַ֨ח will send yiš·laḥ מַלְאָכ֤וֹ His angel mal·’ā·ḵōw אִתָּךְ֙ with you ’it·tāḵ דַּרְכֶּ֔ךָ and make your journey dar·ke·ḵā וְהִצְלִ֣יחַ a success , wə·hiṣ·lî·aḥ וְלָקַחְתָּ֤ so that you may take wə·lā·qaḥ·tā אִשָּׁה֙ a wife ’iš·šāh לִבְנִ֔י for my son liḇ·nî מִמִּשְׁפַּחְתִּ֖י from my kindred mim·miš·paḥ·tî אָבִֽי׃ and from my father’s ’ā·ḇî וּמִבֵּ֥ית house . ū·mib·bêṯ Genesis 24:41 כִּ֥י And when kî תָב֖וֹא you go ṯā·ḇō·w אֶל־ to ’el- מִשְׁפַּחְתִּ֑י my kindred , miš·paḥ·tî תִּנָּקֶה֙ - tin·nā·qeh מֵאָ֣לָתִ֔י - mê·’ā·lā·ṯî וְאִם־ if wə·’im- לֹ֤א they refuse to lō יִתְּנוּ֙ give her yit·tə·nū לָ֔ךְ to you , lāḵ אָ֤ז then ’āz וְהָיִ֥יתָ you will be wə·hā·yî·ṯā נָקִ֖י released nā·qî מֵאָלָתִֽי׃ from my oath . ’ mê·’ā·lā·ṯî
