Joshua 10:2 מְאֹ֔ד So [Adoni-zedek and his people] were greatly mə·’ōḏ וַיִּֽירְא֣וּ alarmed , way·yî·rə·’ū כִּ֣י because kî גִּבְע֔וֹן Gibeon giḇ·‘ō·wn גְּדוֹלָה֙ [was] a great gə·ḏō·w·lāh עִ֤יר city , ‘îr כְּאַחַ֖ת like one kə·’a·ḥaṯ הַמַּמְלָכָ֑ה of the royal ham·mam·lā·ḵāh וְכִ֨י . . . wə·ḵî עָרֵ֣י cities ; ‘ā·rê הִ֤יא it hî גְדוֹלָה֙ was larger ḡə·ḏō·w·lāh מִן־ than min- הָעַ֔י Ai , hā·‘ay וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl אֲנָשֶׁ֖יהָ its men ’ă·nā·še·hā גִּבֹּרִֽים׃ were mighty . gib·bō·rîm Joshua 10:3 אֲדֹנִי־ vvv ’ă·ḏō·nî- צֶ֜דֶק Therefore Adoni-zedek ṣe·ḏeq מֶ֣לֶךְ king me·leḵ יְרוּשָׁלִַ֗ם of Jerusalem yə·rū·šā·lim וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח sent way·yiš·laḥ אֶל־ word to ’el- הוֹהָ֣ם Hoham hō·w·hām מֶֽלֶךְ־ king me·leḵ- חֶ֠בְרוֹן of Hebron , ḥeḇ·rō·wn וְאֶל־ . . . wə·’el- פִּרְאָ֨ם Piram pir·’ām מֶֽלֶךְ־ king me·leḵ- יַרְמ֜וּת of Jarmuth , yar·mūṯ וְאֶל־ . . . wə·’el- יָפִ֧יעַ Japhia yā·p̄î·a‘ מֶֽלֶךְ־ king me·leḵ- לָכִ֛ישׁ of Lachish , lā·ḵîš וְאֶל־ . . . wə·’el- דְּבִ֥יר and Debir də·ḇîr מֶֽלֶךְ־ king me·leḵ- עֶגְל֖וֹן of Eglon , ‘eḡ·lō·wn לֵאמֹֽר׃ saying , lê·mōr Joshua 10:4 עֲלֽוּ־ “ Come up ‘ă·lū- אֵלַ֣י . . . ’ê·lay וְעִזְרֻ֔נִי and help me . wə·‘iz·ru·nî וְנַכֶּ֖ה We will attack wə·nak·keh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- גִּבְע֑וֹן Gibeon , giḇ·‘ō·wn כִּֽי־ because kî- הִשְׁלִ֥ימָה they have made peace hiš·lî·māh אֶת־ with ’eṯ- יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ Joshua yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘ וְאֶת־ . . . wə·’eṯ- בְּנֵ֥י and the Israelites bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ . . . . ” yiś·rā·’êl Joshua 10:5 חֲמֵ֣שֶׁת׀ So the five ḥă·mê·šeṯ מַלְכֵ֣י kings mal·ḵê הָאֱמֹרִ֗י of the Amorites — hā·’ĕ·mō·rî מֶ֣לֶךְ the kings me·leḵ יְרוּשָׁלִַ֜ם of Jerusalem , yə·rū·šā·lim מֶֽלֶךְ־ . . . me·leḵ- חֶבְר֤וֹן Hebron , ḥeḇ·rō·wn מֶֽלֶךְ־ . . . me·leḵ- יַרְמוּת֙ Jarmuth , yar·mūṯ מֶֽלֶךְ־ . . . me·leḵ- לָכִ֣ישׁ Lachish , lā·ḵîš מֶֽלֶךְ־ . . . me·leḵ- עֶגְל֔וֹן and Eglon — ‘eḡ·lō·wn הֵ֖ם . . . hêm וַיֵּאָסְפ֨וּ joined forces way·yê·’ā·sə·p̄ū וַֽיַּעֲל֜וּ and advanced way·ya·‘ă·lū וְכָל־ with all wə·ḵāl מַֽחֲנֵיהֶ֑ם their armies . ma·ḥă·nê·hem וַֽיַּחֲנוּ֙ They camped way·ya·ḥă·nū עַל־ before ‘al- גִּבְע֔וֹן Gibeon giḇ·‘ō·wn וַיִּֽלָּחֲמ֖וּ and made war way·yil·lā·ḥă·mū עָלֶֽיהָ׃ against it . ‘ā·le·hā Joshua 10:6 אַנְשֵׁי֩ Then the men ’an·šê גִבְע֨וֹן of Gibeon ḡiḇ·‘ō·wn וַיִּשְׁלְח֣וּ sent way·yiš·lə·ḥū אֶל־ word to ’el- יְהוֹשֻׁ֤עַ Joshua yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘ אֶל־ in ’el- הַֽמַּחֲנֶה֙ the camp ham·ma·ḥă·neh הַגִּלְגָּ֣לָה at Gilgal : hag·gil·gā·lāh לֵאמֹ֔ר . . . lê·mōr אַל־ “ Do not ’al-
