אֶת־ - ’eṯ- צִוָּ֜ה had commanded ṣiw·wāh עַבְדּ֔וֹ His servant ‘aḇ·dōw מֹשֶׁ֣ה Moses mō·šeh לָתֵ֤ת to give lā·ṯêṯ לָכֶם֙ you lā·ḵem אֶת־ - ’eṯ- כָּל־ all kāl- הָאָ֔רֶץ the land hā·’ā·reṣ וּלְהַשְׁמִ֛יד and wipe out ū·lə·haš·mîḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- כָּל־ all kāl- יֹשְׁבֵ֥י its inhabitants yō·šə·ḇê הָאָ֖רֶץ . . . hā·’ā·reṣ מִפְּנֵיכֶ֑ם before you . mip·pə·nê·ḵem מְאֹ֤ד So we greatly mə·’ōḏ וַנִּירָ֨א feared wan·nî·rā לְנַפְשֹׁתֵ֙ינוּ֙ for our lives lə·nap̄·šō·ṯê·nū מִפְּנֵיכֶ֔ם because of you , mip·pə·nê·ḵem וַֽנַּעֲשֵׂ֖ה and that is why we have done wan·na·‘ă·śêh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַדָּבָ֥ר - had·dā·ḇār הַזֶּֽה׃ this . haz·zeh Joshua 9:25 וְעַתָּ֖ה Now wə·‘at·tāh הִנְנ֣וּ . . . hin·nū בְיָדֶ֑ךָ we are in your hands . ḇə·yā·ḏe·ḵā עֲשֵֽׂה׃ Do ‘ă·śêh לָ֖נוּ to us lā·nū בְּעֵינֶ֛יךָ whatever seems bə·‘ê·ne·ḵā כַּטּ֨וֹב good kaṭ·ṭō·wḇ וְכַיָּשָׁ֧ר and right wə·ḵay·yā·šār לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת [to you] . ” la·‘ă·śō·wṯ Joshua 9:26 כֵּ֑ן So kên וַיַּ֥עַשׂ Joshua did this way·ya·‘aś לָהֶ֖ם lā·hem וַיַּצֵּ֥ל and delivered way·yaṣ·ṣêl אוֹתָ֛ם them ’ō·w·ṯām מִיַּ֥ד from the hands mî·yaḏ בְּנֵֽי־ vvv bə·nê- יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of the Israelites , yiś·rā·’êl וְלֹ֥א and they did not wə·lō הֲרָגֽוּם׃ kill [the Gibeonites] . hă·rā·ḡūm Joshua 9:27 הַה֗וּא On that ha·hū בַּיּ֣וֹם day bay·yō·wm יְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַ he yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘ וַיִּתְּנֵ֨ם made them way·yit·tə·nêm חֹטְבֵ֥י woodcutters ḥō·ṭə·ḇê עֵצִ֛ים . . . ‘ê·ṣîm מַ֖יִם and water ma·yim וְשֹׁ֥אֲבֵי carriers , wə·šō·’ă·ḇê עַד־ as they are to this day ‘aḏ- הַיּ֣וֹם . . . hay·yō·wm הַזֶּ֔ה . . . haz·zeh לָֽעֵדָ֑ה for the congregation lā·‘ê·ḏāh יְהוָה֙ of YHWH Yah·weh וּלְמִזְבַּ֤ח and for the altar ū·lə·miz·baḥ אֶל־ at ’el- הַמָּק֖וֹם the place ham·mā·qō·wm אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer יִבְחָֽר׃פ He would choose . yiḇ·ḥār Joshua 10:1 וַיְהִי֩ Now way·hî אֲדֹֽנִי־ vvv ’ă·ḏō·nî- צֶ֜דֶק Adoni-zedek ṣe·ḏeq מֶ֣לֶךְ king me·leḵ יְרוּשָׁלִַ֗ם of Jerusalem yə·rū·šā·lim כִשְׁמֹ֨עַ heard ḵiš·mō·a‘ כִּֽי־ that kî- יְהוֹשֻׁ֣עַ Joshua yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- לָכַ֨ד had captured lā·ḵaḏ הָעַי֮ Ai hā·‘ay וַיַּחֲרִימָהּ֒ and devoted it to destruction — way·ya·ḥă·rî·māh עָשָׂ֤ה doing to ‘ā·śāh לָעַ֖י Ai lā·‘ay וּלְמַלְכָּ֔הּ and its king ū·lə·mal·kāh כֵּן־ . . . kên- כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר as ka·’ă·šer עָשָׂ֥ה he had done to ‘ā·śāh לִֽירִיחוֹ֙ Jericho lî·rî·ḥōw וּלְמַלְכָּ֑הּ and its king — ū·lə·mal·kāh וְכִ֨י and that wə·ḵî יֹשְׁבֵ֤י the people yō·šə·ḇê גִבְעוֹן֙ of Gibeon ḡiḇ·‘ō·wn הִשְׁלִ֜ימוּ had made peace hiš·lî·mū אֶת־ with ’eṯ- יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיִּֽהְי֖וּ and were [living] way·yih·yū בְּקִרְבָּֽם׃ near them . bə·qir·bām
