Genesis 20:3 הַלָּ֑יְלָה One night, however , hal·lā·yə·lāh אֱלֹהִ֛ים God ’ĕ·lō·hîm וַיָּבֹ֧א came way·yā·ḇō אֶל־ to ’el- אֲבִימֶ֖לֶךְ Abimelech ’ă·ḇî·me·leḵ בַּחֲל֣וֹם in a dream ba·ḥă·lō·wm וַיֹּ֣אמֶר and told way·yō·mer ל֗וֹ him , lōw הִנְּךָ֥ - hin·nə·ḵā מֵת֙ “ You are as good as dead mêṯ עַל־ because of ‘al- הָאִשָּׁ֣ה the woman hā·’iš·šāh אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- לָקַ֔חְתָּ you have taken , lā·qaḥ·tā וְהִ֖וא for she wə·hi·w בְּעֻ֥לַת is a married bə·‘u·laṯ בָּֽעַל׃ woman. ” bā·‘al Genesis 20:4 וַאֲבִימֶ֕לֶךְ Now Abimelech wa·’ă·ḇî·me·leḵ לֹ֥א had not lō קָרַ֖ב gone qā·raḇ אֵלֶ֑יהָ near her , ’ê·le·hā וַיֹּאמַ֕ר so he replied , way·yō·mar אֲדֹנָ֕י “ Lord , ’ă·ḏō·nāy תַּהֲרֹֽג׃ would You destroy ta·hă·rōḡ הֲג֥וֹי a nation hă·ḡō·w גַּם־ even though gam- צַדִּ֖יק it is innocent ? ṣad·dîq Genesis 20:5 הֲלֹ֨א Didn’t hă·lō ה֤וּא [Abraham] hū אָֽמַר־ tell ’ā·mar- לִי֙ me , lî הִ֔וא ‘ She hî אֲחֹ֣תִי is my sister ’? ’ă·ḥō·ṯî וְהִֽיא־ And she wə·hî- גַם־ . . . ḡam- הִ֥וא herself hî אָֽמְרָ֖ה said , ’ā·mə·rāh ה֑וּא ‘ He hū אָחִ֣י is my brother . ’ ’ā·ḥî עָשִׂ֥יתִי I have done ‘ā·śî·ṯî זֹֽאת׃ this zōṯ בְּתָם־ in the integrity bə·ṯām- לְבָבִ֛י of my heart lə·ḇā·ḇî וּבְנִקְיֹ֥ן and the innocence ū·ḇə·niq·yōn כַּפַּ֖י of my hands . ” kap·pay Genesis 20:6 הָֽאֱלֹהִ֜ים Then God hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm וַיֹּאמֶר֩ said way·yō·mer אֵלָ֨יו to [Abimelech] ’ê·lāw בַּחֲלֹ֗ם in the dream , ba·ḥă·lōm גַּ֣ם “ Yes , gam אָנֹכִ֤י I ’ā·nō·ḵî יָדַ֙עְתִּי֙ know yā·ḏa‘·tî כִּ֤י that kî עָשִׂ֣יתָ you did ‘ā·śî·ṯā זֹּ֔את this zōṯ בְתָם־ with a clear ḇə·ṯām- לְבָבְךָ֙ conscience , lə·ḇā·ḇə·ḵā אָנֹכִ֛י and so I ’ā·nō·ḵî גַּם־ . . . gam- וָאֶחְשֹׂ֧ךְ have kept wā·’eḥ·śōḵ אֽוֹתְךָ֖ you ’ō·wṯ·ḵā מֵחֲטוֹ־ from sinning mê·ḥă·ṭōw- לִ֑י against Me . lî עַל־ That is why ‘al- כֵּ֥ן . . . kên לֹא־ I did not lō- נְתַתִּ֖יךָ let nə·ṯat·tî·ḵā לִנְגֹּ֥עַ you touch lin·gō·a‘ אֵלֶֽיהָ׃ her . ’ê·le·hā Genesis 20:7 וְעַתָּ֗ה Now wə·‘at·tāh הָשֵׁ֤ב return hā·šêḇ הָאִישׁ֙ the man’s hā·’îš אֵֽשֶׁת־ wife , ’ê·šeṯ- כִּֽי־ for kî- ה֔וּא he hū נָבִ֣יא is a prophet ; nā·ḇî וְיִתְפַּלֵּ֥ל he will pray wə·yiṯ·pal·lêl בַּֽעַדְךָ֖ for you ba·‘aḏ·ḵā וֶֽחְיֵ֑ה and you will live . weḥ·yêh וְאִם־ But if wə·’im- אֵֽינְךָ֣ you do not ’ê·nə·ḵā מֵשִׁ֗יב restore her , mê·šîḇ דַּ֚ע be aware da‘ כִּי־ that kî- מ֣וֹת you will surely mō·wṯ תָּמ֔וּת die — tā·mūṯ אַתָּ֖ה you ’at·tāh וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl
