Numbers 32:5 אִם־ “ If ’im- מָצָ֤אנוּ we have found mā·ṣā·nū חֵן֙ favor ḥên בְּעֵינֶ֔יךָ in your sight , ” bə·‘ê·ne·ḵā וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ they said , way·yō·mə·rū הַזֹּ֛את “ let this haz·zōṯ הָאָ֧רֶץ land hā·’ā·reṣ יֻתַּ֞ן be given yut·tan אֶת־ - ’eṯ- לַעֲבָדֶ֖יךָ to your servants la·‘ă·ḇā·ḏe·ḵā לַאֲחֻזָּ֑ה as a possession . la·’ă·ḥuz·zāh אַל־ Do not ’al- תַּעֲבִרֵ֖נוּ make us cross ta·‘ă·ḇi·rê·nū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃ the Jordan . ” hay·yar·dên Numbers 32:6 מֹשֶׁ֔ה But Moses mō·šeh וַיֹּ֣אמֶר asked way·yō·mer לִבְנֵי־ the Gadites liḇ·nê- גָ֖ד . . . ḡāḏ וְלִבְנֵ֣י and Reubenites wə·liḇ·nê רְאוּבֵ֑ן . . . , rə·’ū·ḇên הַאַֽחֵיכֶ֗ם “ Shall your brothers ha·’a·ḥê·ḵem יָבֹ֙אוּ֙ go yā·ḇō·’ū לַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה to war lam·mil·ḥā·māh וְאַתֶּ֖ם while you wə·’at·tem תֵּ֥שְׁבוּ sit tê·šə·ḇū פֹֽה׃ here ? p̄ōh Numbers 32:7 וְלָ֣מָּה Why wə·lām·māh תְנוּאוּן are you discouraging ṯə·nū·ʾūn אֶת־ - ’eṯ- לֵ֖ב - lêḇ בְּנֵ֣י the Israelites bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl מֵֽעֲבֹר֙ from crossing mê·‘ă·ḇōr אֶל־ into ’el- הָאָ֔רֶץ the land hā·’ā·reṣ אֲשֶׁר־ that ’ă·šer- יְהוָֽה׃ YHWH Yah·weh נָתַ֥ן has given nā·ṯan לָהֶ֖ם them ? lā·hem Numbers 32:8 כֹּ֥ה This is what kōh אֲבֹתֵיכֶ֑ם your fathers ’ă·ḇō·ṯê·ḵem עָשׂ֖וּ did ‘ā·śū בְּשָׁלְחִ֥י when I sent bə·šā·lə·ḥî אֹתָ֛ם - ’ō·ṯām מִקָּדֵ֥שׁ them miq·qā·ḏêš בַּרְנֵ֖עַ from Kadesh-barnea bar·nê·a‘ לִרְא֥וֹת to inspect lir·’ō·wṯ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָאָֽרֶץ׃ the land . hā·’ā·reṣ Numbers 32:9 וַֽיַּעֲל֞וּ For when [your fathers] went up way·ya·‘ă·lū עַד־ to ‘aḏ- נַ֣חַל the Valley na·ḥal אֶשְׁכּ֗וֹל of Eshcol ’eš·kō·wl וַיִּרְאוּ֙ and saw way·yir·’ū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָאָ֔רֶץ the land , hā·’ā·reṣ וַיָּנִ֕יאוּ they discouraged way·yā·nî·’ū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- לֵ֖ב - lêḇ בְּנֵ֣י the Israelites bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl לְבִלְתִּי־ from lə·ḇil·tî- בֹא֙ entering ḇō אֶל־ . . . ’el- הָאָ֔רֶץ the land hā·’ā·reṣ אֲשֶׁר־ that ’ă·šer- יְהוָֽה׃ YHWH Yah·weh נָתַ֥ן had given nā·ṯan לָהֶ֖ם them . lā·hem Numbers 32:10 אַ֥ף So the anger ’ap̄ יְהוָ֖ה of YHWH Yah·weh וַיִּֽחַר־ was kindled way·yi·ḥar- הַה֑וּא that ha·hū בַּיּ֣וֹם day , bay·yō·wm וַיִּשָּׁבַ֖ע and He swore an oath , way·yiš·šā·ḇa‘ לֵאמֹֽר׃ saying , lê·mōr Numbers 32:11 כִּ֥י ‘ Because kî לֹא־ they did not lō- אַחֲרָֽי׃ follow Me ’a·ḥă·rāy מִלְא֖וּ wholeheartedly , mil·’ū אִם־ not one ’im-
