וַיֹּאמַ֑ר saying : way·yō·mar מֽוֹשָׁבֶ֔ךָ “ Your dwelling place mō·wō·šā·ḇe·ḵā אֵיתָן֙ is secure , ’ê·ṯān קִנֶּֽךָ׃ and your nest qin·ne·ḵā וְשִׂ֥ים is set wə·śîm בַּסֶּ֖לַע in a cliff . bas·se·la‘ Numbers 24:22 כִּ֥י Yet kî אִם־ . . . ’im- קָ֑יִן Kain qā·yin יִהְיֶ֖ה will be yih·yeh לְבָ֣עֵֽר destroyed lə·ḇā·‘êr עַד־ when ‘aḏ- מָ֖ה . . . māh אַשּׁ֥וּר Asshur ’aš·šūr תִּשְׁבֶּֽךָּ׃ takes you captive . ” tiš·be·kā Numbers 24:23 וַיִּשָּׂ֥א Once more [Balaam] lifted up way·yiś·śā מְשָׁל֖וֹ an oracle , mə·šā·lōw וַיֹּאמַ֑ר saying : way·yō·mar א֕וֹי “ Ah , ’ō·w מִ֥י who mî יִחְיֶ֖ה can live yiḥ·yeh אֵֽל׃ unless God ’êl מִשֻּׂמ֥וֹ has ordained it ? miś·śu·mōw Numbers 24:24 וְצִים֙ Ships wə·ṣîm מִיַּ֣ד [will come] from the coasts mî·yaḏ כִּתִּ֔ים of Cyprus ; kit·tîm וְעִנּ֥וּ they will subdue wə·‘in·nū אַשּׁ֖וּר Asshur ’aš·šūr וְעִנּוּ־ . . . wə·‘in·nū- עֵ֑בֶר and Eber , ‘ê·ḇer ה֖וּא but they hū וְגַם־ too wə·ḡam- אֹבֵֽד׃ will perish ’ō·ḇêḏ עֲדֵ֥י forever . ” ‘ă·ḏê Numbers 24:25 בִּלְעָ֔ם Then Balaam bil·‘ām וַיָּ֣קָם arose way·yā·qām וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ vvv way·yê·leḵ וַיָּ֣שָׁב and returned way·yā·šāḇ לִמְקֹמ֑וֹ to his homeland , lim·qō·mōw בָּלָ֖ק and Balak bā·lāq וְגַם־ also wə·ḡam- הָלַ֥ךְ went hā·laḵ לְדַרְכּֽוֹ׃פ on his way . lə·ḏar·kōw Numbers 25:1 יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל While Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב was staying way·yê·šeḇ בַּשִּׁטִּ֑ים in Shittim , baš·šiṭ·ṭîm הָעָ֔ם the men hā·‘ām וַיָּ֣חֶל began way·yā·ḥel לִזְנ֖וֹת to indulge in sexual immorality liz·nō·wṯ אֶל־ with ’el- בְּנ֥וֹת the daughters bə·nō·wṯ מוֹאָֽב׃ of Moab , mō·w·’āḇ Numbers 25:2 וַתִּקְרֶ֣אןָ who also invited wat·tiq·re·nā לָעָ֔ם them lā·‘ām לְזִבְחֵ֖י to the sacrifices lə·ziḇ·ḥê אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ן for their gods . ’ĕ·lō·hê·hen הָעָ֔ם And the people hā·‘ām וַיֹּ֣אכַל ate way·yō·ḵal וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוּ֖וּ and bowed down way·yiš·ta·ḥăw·wū לֵֽאלֹהֵיהֶֽן׃ to these gods . lê·lō·hê·hen Numbers 25:3 יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל So Israel yiś·rā·’êl לְבַ֣עַל lə·ḇa·‘al וַיִּצָּ֥מֶד joined in worshiping way·yiṣ·ṣā·meḏ פְּע֑וֹר Baal of Peor , pə·‘ō·wr אַ֥ף and the anger ’ap̄ יְהוָ֖ה of YHWH Yah·weh וַיִּֽחַר־ burned way·yi·ḥar- בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ against [them] . bə·yiś·rā·’êl Numbers 25:4 יְהוָ֜ה Then YHWH Yah·weh וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- מֹשֶׁ֗ה Moses , mō·šeh קַ֚ח “ Take qaḥ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- כָּל־ all kāl- רָאשֵׁ֣י the leaders rā·šê
