אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיִּשָּׂ֨א looked up way·yiś·śā עֵינָ֗יו . . . ‘ê·nāw וַיַּרְא֙ and saw way·yar אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl שֹׁכֵ֖ן encamped šō·ḵên לִשְׁבָטָ֑יו tribe by tribe , liš·ḇā·ṭāw ר֥וּחַ the Spirit rū·aḥ אֱלֹהִֽים׃ of God ’ĕ·lō·hîm וַתְּהִ֥י came wat·tə·hî עָלָ֖יו upon him , ‘ā·lāw Numbers 24:3 וַיִּשָּׂ֥א and he lifted up way·yiś·śā מְשָׁל֖וֹ an oracle , mə·šā·lōw וַיֹּאמַ֑ר saying : way·yō·mar נְאֻ֤ם “ [This is] the prophecy nə·’um בִּלְעָם֙ of Balaam bil·‘ām בְּנ֣וֹ son bə·nōw בְעֹ֔ר of Beor , ḇə·‘ōr וּנְאֻ֥ם the prophecy ū·nə·’um הַגֶּ֖בֶר of a man hag·ge·ḇer הָעָֽיִן׃ whose eyes hā·‘ā·yin שְׁתֻ֥ם are open , šə·ṯum Numbers 24:4 נְאֻ֕ם the prophecy nə·’um שֹׁמֵ֖עַ of one who hears šō·mê·a‘ אִמְרֵי־ the words ’im·rê- אֵ֑ל of God , ’êl אֲשֶׁ֨ר who ’ă·šer יֶֽחֱזֶ֔ה sees ye·ḥĕ·zeh מַחֲזֵ֤ה a vision ma·ḥă·zêh שַׁדַּי֙ from the Almighty , šad·day נֹפֵ֖ל who bows down nō·p̄êl עֵינָֽיִם׃ with eyes ‘ê·nā·yim וּגְל֥וּי wide open : ū·ḡə·lui Numbers 24:5 מַה־ How mah- טֹּ֥בוּ lovely are ṭō·ḇū אֹהָלֶ֖יךָ your tents , ’ō·hā·le·ḵā יַעֲקֹ֑ב O Jacob , ya·‘ă·qōḇ מִשְׁכְּנֹתֶ֖יךָ your dwellings , miš·kə·nō·ṯe·ḵā יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ O Israel ! yiś·rā·’êl Numbers 24:6 נִטָּ֔יוּ They spread out niṭ·ṭā·yū כִּנְחָלִ֣ים like palm groves , kin·ḥā·lîm כְּגַנֹּ֖ת like gardens kə·ḡan·nōṯ עֲלֵ֣י beside ‘ă·lê נָהָ֑ר a stream , nā·hār כַּאֲהָלִים֙ like aloes ka·’ă·hā·lîm יְהוָ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh נָטַ֣ע has planted , nā·ṭa‘ כַּאֲרָזִ֖ים like cedars ka·’ă·rā·zîm עֲלֵי־ beside ‘ă·lê- מָֽיִם׃ the waters . mā·yim Numbers 24:7 מַ֙יִם֙ Water ma·yim יִֽזַּל־ will flow yiz·zal- מִדָּ֣לְיָ֔ו from his buckets , mid·dā·lə·yāw וְזַרְע֖וֹ and his seed wə·zar·‘ōw רַבִּ֑ים will have abundant rab·bîm בְּמַ֣יִם water . bə·ma·yim מַלְכּ֔וֹ His king mal·kōw וְיָרֹ֤ם will be greater wə·yā·rōm מֵֽאֲגַג֙ than Agag , mê·’ă·ḡaḡ מַלְכֻתֽוֹ׃ and his kingdom mal·ḵu·ṯōw וְתִנַּשֵּׂ֖א will be exalted . wə·ṯin·naś·śê Numbers 24:8 אֵ֚ל God ’êl מוֹצִיא֣וֹ brought him mō·w·ṣî·’ōw מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם out of Egypt mim·miṣ·ra·yim כְּתוֹעֲפֹ֥ת with strength kə·ṯō·w·‘ă·p̄ōṯ רְאֵ֖ם like a wild ox rə·’êm ל֑וֹ , lōw יֹאכַ֞ל to devour yō·ḵal צָרָ֗יו hostile ṣā·rāw גּוֹיִ֣ם nations gō·w·yim יְגָרֵ֖ם and crush yə·ḡā·rêm וְעַצְמֹתֵיהֶ֛ם their bones , wə·‘aṣ·mō·ṯê·hem יִמְחָֽץ׃ to pierce them yim·ḥāṣ וְחִצָּ֥יו with arrows . wə·ḥiṣ·ṣāw Numbers 24:9 כָּרַ֨ע He crouches , kā·ra‘ שָׁכַ֧ב he lies down šā·ḵaḇ כַּאֲרִ֛י like a lion ; ka·’ă·rî וּכְלָבִ֖יא like a lioness , ū·ḵə·lā·ḇî
