אֶל־ to ’el- בְּנֵ֣י the Israelites bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl וְקַ֣ח and take wə·qaḥ מֵֽאִתָּ֡ם from them mê·’it·tām שְׁנֵ֥ים twelve šə·nêm עָשָׂ֖ר . . . ‘ā·śār מַטּ֑וֹת staffs , maṭ·ṭō·wṯ מַטֶּ֣ה [one] maṭ·ṭeh מַטֶּה֩ . . . maṭ·ṭeh אָ֜ב - ’āḇ מֵאֵ֤ת - mê·’êṯ לְבֵ֨ית . . . lə·ḇêṯ נְשִֽׂיאֵהֶם֙ from the leader nə·śî·’ê·hem כָּל־ of each kāl- אֲבֹתָ֔ם tribe ’ă·ḇō·ṯām לְבֵ֣ית . . . . lə·ḇêṯ תִּכְתֹּ֖ב Write tiḵ·tōḇ אִ֣ישׁ each ’îš אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שְׁמ֔וֹ man’s name šə·mōw עַל־ on ‘al- מַטֵּֽהוּ׃ his staff , maṭ·ṭê·hū Numbers 17:3 וְאֵת֙ and wə·’êṯ תִּכְתֹּ֖ב write tiḵ·tōḇ אַהֲרֹ֔ן Aaron’s ’a·hă·rōn שֵׁ֣ם name šêm עַל־ on ‘al- מַטֵּ֣ה the staff maṭ·ṭêh לֵוִ֑י of Levi , lê·wî כִּ֚י because kî אֶחָ֔ד there must be one ’e·ḥāḏ מַטֶּ֣ה staff maṭ·ṭeh לְרֹ֖אשׁ for the head lə·rōš אֲבוֹתָֽם׃ of each tribe ’ă·ḇō·w·ṯām בֵּ֥ית . . . . bêṯ Numbers 17:4 וְהִנַּחְתָּ֖ם Place [the staffs] wə·hin·naḥ·tām בְּאֹ֣הֶל in the Tent bə·’ō·hel מוֹעֵ֑ד of Meeting mō·w·‘êḏ לִפְנֵי֙ in front of lip̄·nê הָֽעֵד֔וּת the Testimony , hā·‘ê·ḏūṯ אֲשֶׁ֛ר where ’ă·šer אִוָּעֵ֥ד I meet ’iw·wā·‘êḏ לָכֶ֖ם with you lā·ḵem שָֽׁמָּה׃ . . . . šām·māh Numbers 17:5 וְהָיָ֗ה - wə·hā·yāh מַטֵּ֣הוּ The staff maṭ·ṭê·hū הָאִ֛ישׁ belonging to the man hā·’îš אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer אֶבְחַר־ I choose ’eḇ·ḥar- בּ֖וֹ bōw יִפְרָ֑ח will sprout , yip̄·rāḥ וַהֲשִׁכֹּתִ֣י and I will rid wa·hă·šik·kō·ṯî מֵֽעָלַ֗י Myself mê·‘ā·lay אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אֲשֶׁ֛ר - ’ă·šer תְּלֻנּוֹת֙ of the constant grumbling tə·lun·nō·wṯ בְּנֵ֣י vvv bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of the Israelites yiś·rā·’êl הֵ֥ם - hêm מַלִּינִ֖ם - mal·lî·nim עֲלֵיכֶֽם׃ against you . ” ‘ă·lê·ḵem Numbers 17:6 מֹשֶׁ֜ה So Moses mō·šeh וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר spoke way·ḏab·bêr אֶל־ to ’el- בְּנֵ֣י the Israelites bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל . . . , yiś·rā·’êl כָּֽל־ and each kāl- נְשִֽׂיאֵיהֶ֡ם of their leaders nə·śî·’ê·hem וַיִּתְּנ֣וּ gave him way·yit·tə·nū אֵלָ֣יו׀ . . . ’ê·lāw אֶחָ֜ד a ’e·ḥāḏ מַטֶּה֩ staff — maṭ·ṭeh לְנָשִׂ֨יא lə·nā·śî מַטֶּ֨ה one maṭ·ṭeh אֶחָד֙ for each ’e·ḥāḏ לְנָשִׂ֤יא of the leaders lə·nā·śî אֲבֹתָ֔ם of their tribes ’ă·ḇō·ṯām לְבֵ֣ית . . . , lə·ḇêṯ שְׁנֵ֥ים twelve šə·nêm עָשָׂ֖ר . . . ‘ā·śār מַטּ֑וֹת staffs in all . maṭ·ṭō·wṯ אַהֲרֹ֖ן And Aaron’s ’a·hă·rōn וּמַטֵּ֥ה staff ū·maṭ·ṭêh בְּת֥וֹךְ was among bə·ṯō·wḵ מַטּוֹתָֽם׃ [them] . maṭ·ṭō·w·ṯām
