לָמָ֤ה “ Why lā·māh הֲרֵעֹ֙תָ֙ have You brought this trouble hă·rê·‘ō·ṯā לְעַבְדֶּ֔ךָ on Your servant ? lə·‘aḇ·de·ḵā וְלָ֛מָּה Why wə·lām·māh לֹא־ have I not lō- מָצָ֥תִי found mā·ṣā·ṯî חֵ֖ן favor ḥên בְּעֵינֶ֑יךָ in Your sight , bə·‘ê·ne·ḵā לָשׂ֗וּם that You have laid lā·śūm אֶת־ ’eṯ- עָלָֽי׃ upon me ‘ā·lāy מַשָּׂ֛א the burden maś·śā כָּל־ of all kāl- הַזֶּ֖ה these haz·zeh הָעָ֥ם people ? hā·‘ām Numbers 11:12 הֶאָנֹכִ֣י Did I he·’ā·nō·ḵî הָרִ֗יתִי conceive hā·rî·ṯî אֵ֚ת - ’êṯ כָּל־ all kāl- הַזֶּ֔ה these haz·zeh אִם־ . . . ’im- הָעָ֣ם people ? hā·‘ām אָנֹכִ֖י Did I ’ā·nō·ḵî יְלִדְתִּ֑יהוּ give them birth , yə·liḏ·tî·hū כִּֽי־ so that kî- תֹאמַ֨ר You should tell ṯō·mar אֵלַ֜י me , ’ê·lay שָׂאֵ֣הוּ ‘ Carry them śā·’ê·hū בְחֵיקֶ֗ךָ in your bosom , ḇə·ḥê·qe·ḵā כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר as ka·’ă·šer הָאֹמֵן֙ a nurse hā·’ō·mên יִשָּׂ֤א carries yiś·śā אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַיֹּנֵ֔ק an infant , ’ hay·yō·nêq עַ֚ל to ‘al הָֽאֲדָמָ֔ה the land hā·’ă·ḏā·māh אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ’ă·šer נִשְׁבַּ֖עְתָּ You swore to give niš·ba‘·tā לַאֲבֹתָֽיו׃ their fathers ? la·’ă·ḇō·ṯāw Numbers 11:13 מֵאַ֤יִן Where mê·’a·yin לִי֙ lî בָּשָׂ֔ר can I get meat bā·śār לָתֵ֖ת for lā·ṯêṯ לְכָל־ all lə·ḵāl הַזֶּ֑ה these haz·zeh הָעָ֣ם people ? hā·‘ām כִּֽי־ For kî- יִבְכּ֤וּ they keep crying out yiḇ·kū עָלַי֙ to me ‘ā·lay לֵאמֹ֔ר . . . , lê·mōr תְּנָה־ ‘ Give tə·nāh- לָּ֥נוּ us lā·nū בָשָׂ֖ר meat ḇā·śār וְנֹאכֵֽלָה׃ to eat ! ’ wə·nō·ḵê·lāh Numbers 11:14 אָנֹכִי֙ I ’ā·nō·ḵî לֹֽא־ cannot lō- אוּכַ֤ל . . . ’ū·ḵal לָשֵׂ֖את carry lā·śêṯ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- כָּל־ all kāl- הַזֶּ֑ה these haz·zeh הָעָ֣ם people hā·‘ām לְבַדִּ֔י by myself ; lə·ḇad·dî כִּ֥י [it is] kî כָבֵ֖ד too burdensome ḵā·ḇêḏ מִמֶּֽנִּי׃ for me . mim·men·nî Numbers 11:15 וְאִם־ If wə·’im- כָּ֣כָה׀ this is how kā·ḵāh אַתְּ־ You ’at- עֹ֣שֶׂה are going to treat ‘ō·śeh לִּ֗י me , lî נָא֙ please nā הָרֹ֔ג kill me right now hā·rōḡ הָרְגֵ֤נִי — hā·rə·ḡê·nî אִם־ if ’im- מָצָ֥אתִי I have found mā·ṣā·ṯî חֵ֖ן favor ḥên בְּעֵינֶ֑יךָ in Your eyes — bə·‘ê·ne·ḵā וְאַל־ and let me not wə·’al- אֶרְאֶ֖ה see ’er·’eh בְּרָעָתִֽי׃פ my own wretchedness . ” bə·rā·‘ā·ṯî Numbers 11:16 יְהוָ֜ה Then YHWH Yah·weh וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- מֹשֶׁ֗ה Moses , mō·šeh
