מֹשֶׁ֖ה Moses mō·šeh דָּרֹ֥שׁ searched dā·rōš דָּרַ֛שׁ carefully dā·raš שְׂעִ֣יר for the goat śə·‘îr הַֽחַטָּ֗את of the sin offering , ha·ḥaṭ·ṭāṯ וְהִנֵּ֣ה and behold , wə·hin·nêh שֹׂרָ֑ף it had been burned up . śō·rāp̄ וַ֠יִּקְצֹף He was angry way·yiq·ṣōp̄ עַל־ with ‘al- אֶלְעָזָ֤ר Eleazar ’el·‘ā·zār וְעַל־ . . . wə·‘al- אִֽיתָמָר֙ and Ithamar , ’î·ṯā·mār אַהֲרֹ֔ן Aaron’s ’a·hă·rōn הַנּוֹתָרִ֖ם remaining han·nō·w·ṯā·rim בְּנֵ֣י sons , bə·nê לֵאמֹֽר׃ and asked , lê·mōr Leviticus 10:17 מַדּ֗וּעַ “ Why mad·dū·a‘ לֹֽא־ didn’t you lō- אֲכַלְתֶּ֤ם eat ’ă·ḵal·tem אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַֽחַטָּאת֙ the sin offering ha·ḥaṭ·ṭāṯ הַקֹּ֔דֶשׁ in the holy haq·qō·ḏeš בִּמְק֣וֹם place ? bim·qō·wm כִּ֛י For kî הִ֑וא it hî וְאֹתָ֣הּ׀ - wə·’ō·ṯāh קֹ֥דֶשׁ is most qō·ḏeš קָֽדָשִׁ֖ים holy ; qā·ḏā·šîm נָתַ֣ן it was given nā·ṯan לָכֶ֗ם to you lā·ḵem לָשֵׂאת֙ to take away lā·śêṯ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עֲוֺ֣ן the guilt ‘ă·wōn הָעֵדָ֔ה of the congregation hā·‘ê·ḏāh לְכַפֵּ֥ר by making atonement lə·ḵap·pêr עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם for them ‘ă·lê·hem לִפְנֵ֥י before lip̄·nê יְהוָֽה׃ YHWH . Yah·weh Leviticus 10:18 הֵ֚ן Since hên דָּמָ֔הּ its blood dā·māh אֶל־ . . . ’el- לֹא־ was not lō- הוּבָ֣א brought hū·ḇā אֶת־ - ’eṯ- פְּנִ֑ימָה inside pə·nî·māh הַקֹּ֖דֶשׁ the holy [place] , haq·qō·ḏeš אָכ֨וֹל you should have eaten ’ā·ḵō·wl תֹּאכְל֥וּ . . . tō·ḵə·lū אֹתָ֛הּ - ’ō·ṯāh בַּקֹּ֖דֶשׁ it in the sanctuary area , baq·qō·ḏeš כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר as ka·’ă·šer צִוֵּֽיתִי׃ I commanded . ” ṣiw·wê·ṯî Leviticus 10:19 אַהֲרֹ֜ן But Aaron ’a·hă·rōn וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר replied way·ḏab·bêr אֶל־ to ’el- מֹשֶׁ֗ה Moses , mō·šeh הֵ֣ן “ Behold , hên הַ֠יּוֹם this very day hay·yō·wm הִקְרִ֨יבוּ they presented hiq·rî·ḇū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- חַטָּאתָ֤ם their sin offering ḥaṭ·ṭā·ṯām וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- עֹֽלָתָם֙ and their burnt offering ‘ō·lā·ṯām לִפְנֵ֣י before lip̄·nê יְהוָ֔ה YHWH . Yah·weh כָּאֵ֑לֶּה Since these things kā·’êl·leh וַתִּקְרֶ֥אנָה have happened to me , wat·tiq·re·nāh אֹתִ֖י - ’ō·ṯî וְאָכַ֤לְתִּי if I had eaten wə·’ā·ḵal·tî חַטָּאת֙ the sin offering ḥaṭ·ṭāṯ הַיּ֔וֹם today , hay·yō·wm הַיִּיטַ֖ב would it have been acceptable hay·yî·ṭaḇ בְּעֵינֵ֥י in the sight bə·‘ê·nê יְהוָֽה׃ of YHWH ? ” Yah·weh Leviticus 10:20 מֹשֶׁ֔ה And when Moses mō·šeh וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע heard this [explanation] , way·yiš·ma‘ וַיִּיטַ֖ב he was satisfied way·yî·ṭaḇ בְּעֵינָֽיו׃פ . . . . bə·‘ê·nāw Leviticus 11:1 יְהוָ֛ה YHWH Yah·weh וַיְדַבֵּ֧ר spoke again way·ḏab·bêr אֶל־ to ’el- מֹשֶׁ֥ה Moses mō·šeh וְאֶֽל־ . . . wə·’el- אַהֲרֹ֖ן and Aaron , ’a·hă·rōn לֵאמֹ֥ר telling lê·mōr
