וְסָ֖ר will come to an end . wə·sār Amos 6:8 אֲדֹנָ֨י The Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy יְהוִ֜ה YHWH Yah·weh נִשְׁבַּע֩ has sworn niš·ba‘ בְּנַפְשׁ֗וֹ by Himself — bə·nap̄·šōw יְהוָה֙ YHWH , Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֣י the God ’ĕ·lō·hê צְבָא֔וֹת of Hosts , ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ נְאֻם־ has declared : nə·’um- אָֽנֹכִי֙ “ I ’ā·nō·ḵî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- מְתָאֵ֤ב abhor mə·ṯā·’êḇ יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב Jacob’s ya·‘ă·qōḇ גְּא֣וֹן pride gə·’ō·wn שָׂנֵ֑אתִי and detest śā·nê·ṯî וְאַרְמְנֹתָ֖יו his citadels , wə·’ar·mə·nō·ṯāw וְהִסְגַּרְתִּ֖י so I will deliver up wə·his·gar·tî עִ֥יר the city ‘îr וּמְלֹאָֽהּ׃ and everything in it . ” ū·mə·lō·’āh Amos 6:9 אִם־ And if ’im- וְהָיָ֗ה there are wə·hā·yāh עֲשָׂרָ֧ה ten ‘ă·śā·rāh אֲנָשִׁ֛ים men ’ă·nā·šîm יִוָּ֨תְר֜וּ left yiw·wā·ṯə·rū אֶחָ֖ד in one ’e·ḥāḏ בְּבַ֥יִת house , bə·ḇa·yiṯ וָמֵֽתוּ׃ they too will die . wā·mê·ṯū Amos 6:10 דּוֹד֣וֹ And when the relative dō·w·ḏōw וּמְסָרְפ֗וֹ who is to burn [the bodies] ū·mə·sā·rə·p̄ōw וּנְשָׂא֞וֹ picks them up ū·nə·śā·’ōw עֲצָמִים֮ . . . ‘ă·ṣā·mîm לְהוֹצִ֣יא to remove them lə·hō·w·ṣî מִן־ from min- הַבַּיִת֒ the house , hab·ba·yiṯ וְאָמַ֞ר he will call wə·’ā·mar לַאֲשֶׁ֨ר to one la·’ă·šer בְּיַרְכְּתֵ֥י inside bə·yar·kə·ṯê הַבַּ֛יִת - , hab·ba·yiṯ הַע֥וֹד “ Is anyone else ha·‘ō·wḏ עִמָּ֖ךְ with you ? ” ‘im·māḵ אָ֑פֶס “ None , ” ’ā·p̄es וְאָמַ֣ר that person will answer . wə·’ā·mar הָ֔ס “ Silence , ” hās וְאָמַ֣ר [the relative] will retort , wə·’ā·mar כִּ֛י “ for kî בְּשֵׁ֥ם the name bə·šêm יְהוָֽה׃ of YHWH Yah·weh לֹ֥א must not lō לְהַזְכִּ֖יר be invoked . ” lə·haz·kîr Amos 6:11 כִּֽי־ For kî- הִנֵּ֤ה . . . hin·nêh יְהוָה֙ YHWH Yah·weh מְצַוֶּ֔ה gives a command : mə·ṣaw·weh הַגָּד֖וֹל “ The great hag·gā·ḏō·wl הַבַּ֥יִת house hab·ba·yiṯ וְהִכָּ֛ה will be smashed wə·hik·kāh רְסִיסִ֑ים to pieces , rə·sî·sîm הַקָּטֹ֖ן and the small haq·qā·ṭōn וְהַבַּ֥יִת house wə·hab·ba·yiṯ בְּקִעִֽים׃ to rubble . ” bə·qi·‘îm Amos 6:12 סוּסִ֔ים “ Do horses sū·sîm אִֽם־ . . . ’im- הַיְרֻצ֤וּן gallop hay·ru·ṣūn בַּסֶּ֙לַע֙ on the cliffs ? bas·se·la‘ יַחֲר֖וֹשׁ Does one plow [the sea] ya·ḥă·rō·wōš בַּבְּקָרִ֑ים with oxen ? bab·bə·qā·rîm כִּֽי־ But kî- הֲפַכְתֶּ֤ם you have turned hă·p̄aḵ·tem מִשְׁפָּ֔ט justice miš·pāṭ לְרֹאשׁ֙ into poison lə·rōš וּפְרִ֥י and the fruit ū·p̄ə·rî צְדָקָ֖ה of righteousness ṣə·ḏā·qāh לְלַעֲנָֽה׃ into wormwood — lə·la·‘ă·nāh Amos 6:13 הַשְּׂמֵחִ֖ים you who rejoice haś·śə·mê·ḥîm לְלֹ֣א vvv lə·lō דָבָ֑ר in Lo-debar ḏā·ḇār הָאֹ֣מְרִ֔ים and say , hā·’ō·mə·rîm הֲל֣וֹא ‘ Did we not hă·lō·w לָקַ֥חְנוּ take lā·qaḥ·nū קַרְנָֽיִם׃ Karnaim qar·nā·yim לָ֖נוּ by our own lā·nū בְחָזְקֵ֔נוּ strength ? ’ ḇə·ḥā·zə·qê·nū
