כִּ֚י without kî אִם־ . . . ’im- גָּלָ֣ה revealing gā·lāh סוֹד֔וֹ His plan sō·w·ḏōw אֶל־ to ’el- עֲבָדָ֖יו His servants ‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw הַנְּבִיאִֽים׃ the prophets . han·nə·ḇî·’îm Amos 3:8 אַרְיֵ֥ה The lion ’ar·yêh שָׁאָ֖ג has roared — šā·’āḡ מִ֣י who mî לֹ֣א will not lō יִירָ֑א fear ? yî·rā אֲדֹנָ֤י The Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy יְהוִה֙ YHWH Yah·weh דִּבֶּ֔ר has spoken — dib·ber מִ֖י who mî לֹ֥א will not lō יִנָּבֵֽא׃ prophesy ? yin·nā·ḇê Amos 3:9 הַשְׁמִ֙יעוּ֙ Proclaim haš·mî·‘ū עַל־ to ‘al- אַרְמְנ֣וֹת the citadels ’ar·mə·nō·wṯ בְּאַשְׁדּ֔וֹד of Ashdod bə·’aš·dō·wḏ וְעַֽל־ and to wə·‘al- אַרְמְנ֖וֹת the citadels ’ar·mə·nō·wṯ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ - bə·’e·reṣ מִצְרָ֑יִם of Egypt miṣ·rā·yim וְאִמְר֗וּ . . . : wə·’im·rū הֵאָֽסְפוּ֙ “ Assemble hê·’ā·sə·p̄ū עַל־ on ‘al- הָרֵ֣י the mountains hā·rê שֹׁמְר֔וֹן of Samaria ; šō·mə·rō·wn וּרְא֞וּ see ū·rə·’ū רַבּוֹת֙ the great rab·bō·wṯ מְהוּמֹ֤ת unrest mə·hū·mōṯ בְּתוֹכָ֔הּ in the city bə·ṯō·w·ḵāh וַעֲשׁוּקִ֖ים and the acts of oppression wa·‘ă·šū·qîm בְּקִרְבָּֽהּ׃ in her midst . ” bə·qir·bāh Amos 3:10 יָדְע֥וּ “ For they know yā·ḏə·‘ū וְלֹֽא־ not wə·lō- עֲשׂוֹת־ how to do ‘ă·śō·wṯ- נְכֹחָ֖ה right , ” nə·ḵō·ḥāh נְאֻם־ declares nə·’um- יְהוָ֑ה YHWH . Yah·weh הָאֽוֹצְרִ֛ים “ They store up hā·’ō·wṣ·rîm חָמָ֥ס violence ḥā·mās וָשֹׁ֖ד and destruction wā·šōḏ בְּאַרְמְנֽוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃פ in their citadels . ” bə·’ar·mə·nō·w·ṯê·hem Amos 3:11 לָכֵ֗ן Therefore lā·ḵên כֹּ֤ה this is what kōh אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy יְהוִ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh אָמַר֙ says : ’ā·mar צַ֖ר “ An enemy ṣar וּסְבִ֣יב will surround ū·sə·ḇîḇ הָאָ֑רֶץ the land ; hā·’ā·reṣ וְהוֹרִ֤ד he will pull down wə·hō·w·riḏ מִמֵּךְ֙ . . . mim·mêḵ עֻזֵּ֔ךְ your strongholds ‘uz·zêḵ וְנָבֹ֖זּוּ and plunder wə·nā·ḇōz·zū אַרְמְנוֹתָֽיִךְ׃ your citadels . ” ’ar·mə·nō·w·ṯā·yiḵ Amos 3:12 כֹּה֮ This is what kōh יְהוָה֒ YHWH Yah·weh אָמַ֣ר says : ’ā·mar כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ “ As ka·’ă·šer הָרֹעֶ֜ה the shepherd hā·rō·‘eh יַצִּ֨יל snatches yaṣ·ṣîl מִפִּ֧י from the mouth mip·pî הָאֲרִ֛י of the lion hā·’ă·rî שְׁתֵּ֥י two šə·tê כְרָעַ֖יִם legs ḵə·rā·‘a·yim א֣וֹ or ’ōw בְדַל־ a piece ḇə·ḏal- אֹ֑זֶן of an ear , ’ō·zen כֵּ֣ן so kên בְּנֵ֣י the Israelites bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl הַיֹּֽשְׁבִים֙ dwelling hay·yō·šə·ḇîm בְּשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן in Samaria bə·šō·mə·rō·wn יִנָּצְל֞וּ will be rescued yin·nā·ṣə·lū בִּפְאַ֥ת [having just] the corner bip̄·’aṯ מִטָּ֖ה of a bed miṭ·ṭāh וּבִדְמֶ֥שֶׁק or the cushion ū·ḇiḏ·me·šeq עָֽרֶשׂ׃ of a couch . ‘ā·reś
