Joel 1:8 אֱלִ֕י Wail ’ĕ·lî כִּבְתוּלָ֥ה like a virgin kiḇ·ṯū·lāh חֲגֻֽרַת־ dressed ḥă·ḡu·raṯ- שַׂ֖ק in sackcloth , śaq עַל־ grieving for ‘al- בַּ֥עַל the husband ba·‘al נְעוּרֶֽיהָ׃ of her youth . nə·‘ū·re·hā Joel 1:9 מִנְחָ֛ה Grain and drink offerings min·ḥāh וָנֶ֖סֶךְ . . . wā·ne·seḵ הָכְרַ֥ת have been cut off hā·ḵə·raṯ מִבֵּ֣ית from the house mib·bêṯ יְהוָ֑ה of YHWH ; Yah·weh הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים the priests hak·kō·hă·nîm אָֽבְלוּ֙ are in mourning , ’ā·ḇə·lū מְשָׁרְתֵ֖י those who minister mə·šā·rə·ṯê יְהוָֽה׃ before YHWH . Yah·weh Joel 1:10 שָׂדֶ֔ה The field śā·ḏeh שֻׁדַּ֣ד is ruined ; šud·daḏ אֲדָמָ֑ה the land ’ă·ḏā·māh אָבְלָ֖ה mourns . ’ā·ḇə·lāh כִּ֚י For kî דָּגָ֔ן the grain dā·ḡān שֻׁדַּ֣ד is destroyed , šud·daḏ תִּיר֖וֹשׁ the new wine tî·rō·wōš אֻמְלַ֥ל . . . ’um·lal הוֹבִ֥ישׁ is dried up , hō·w·ḇîš יִצְהָֽר׃ [and] the oil fails . yiṣ·hār Joel 1:11 הֹבִ֣ישׁוּ Be dismayed , hō·ḇî·šū אִכָּרִ֗ים O farmers , ’ik·kā·rîm הֵילִ֙ילוּ֙ wail , hê·lî·lū כֹּֽרְמִ֔ים O vinedressers , kō·rə·mîm עַל־ over ‘al- חִטָּ֖ה the wheat ḥiṭ·ṭāh וְעַל־ and wə·‘al- שְׂעֹרָ֑ה barley , śə·‘ō·rāh כִּ֥י because kî קְצִ֥יר the harvest qə·ṣîr שָׂדֶֽה׃ of the field śā·ḏeh אָבַ֖ד has perished . ’ā·ḇaḏ Joel 1:12 הַגֶּ֣פֶן The grapevine hag·ge·p̄en הוֹבִ֔ישָׁה is dried up , hō·w·ḇî·šāh וְהַתְּאֵנָ֖ה and the fig tree wə·hat·tə·’ê·nāh אֻמְלָ֑לָה is withered ; ’um·lā·lāh רִמּ֞וֹן the pomegranate , rim·mō·wn גַּם־ . . . gam- תָּמָ֣ר palm , tā·mār וְתַפּ֗וּחַ and apple — wə·ṯap·pū·aḥ כָּל־ all kāl- עֲצֵ֤י the trees ‘ă·ṣê הַשָּׂדֶה֙ of the orchard — haś·śā·ḏeh יָבֵ֔שׁוּ are withered . yā·ḇê·šū כִּֽי־ Surely kî- שָׂשׂ֖וֹן the joy śā·śō·wn מִן־ of min- בְּנֵ֥י vvv bə·nê אָדָֽם׃ס mankind ’ā·ḏām הֹבִ֥ישׁ has dried up . hō·ḇîš Joel 1:13 חִגְר֨וּ Put on [sackcloth] ḥiḡ·rū וְסִפְד֜וּ and lament , wə·sip̄·ḏū הַכֹּהֲנִ֗ים O priests ; hak·kō·hă·nîm הֵילִ֙ילוּ֙ wail , hê·lî·lū מְשָׁרְתֵ֣י O ministers mə·šā·rə·ṯê מִזְבֵּ֔חַ of the altar . miz·bê·aḥ בֹּ֚אוּ Come , bō·’ū לִ֣ינוּ spend the night lî·nū בַשַּׂקִּ֔ים in sackcloth , ḇaś·śaq·qîm מְשָׁרְתֵ֖י O ministers mə·šā·rə·ṯê אֱלֹהָ֑י of my God , ’ĕ·lō·hāy כִּ֥י because kî מִנְחָ֥ה the grain min·ḥāh וָנָֽסֶךְ׃ and drink offerings wā·nā·seḵ נִמְנַ֛ע are withheld nim·na‘ מִבֵּ֥ית from the house mib·bêṯ אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם of your God . ’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem Joel 1:14 קַדְּשׁוּ־ Consecrate qad·də·šū- צוֹם֙ a fast ; ṣō·wm קִרְא֣וּ proclaim qir·’ū עֲצָרָ֔ה a solemn assembly ! ‘ă·ṣā·rāh אִסְפ֣וּ Gather ’is·p̄ū זְקֵנִ֗ים the elders zə·qê·nîm כֹּ֚ל and all kōl יֹשְׁבֵ֣י the residents yō·šə·ḇê
