וּפָרַ֔ס and Persians ū·p̄ā·ras דִּֽי־ . . . dî- כָל־ no ḵāl אֱסָ֥ר decree ’ĕ·sār וּקְיָ֛ם or ordinance ū·qə·yām דִּֽי־ . . . dî- יְהָקֵ֖ים established yə·hā·qêm מַלְכָּ֥א by the king mal·kā לָ֥א lā לְהַשְׁנָיָֽה׃ can be changed . ” lə·haš·nā·yāh Daniel 6:16 בֵּאדַ֜יִן So bê·ḏa·yin מַלְכָּ֣א the king mal·kā אֲמַ֗ר gave the order , ’ă·mar וְהַיְתִיו֙ and they brought wə·hay·ṯîw לְדָ֣נִיֵּ֔אל Daniel lə·ḏā·nî·yêl וּרְמ֕וֹ and threw him ū·rə·mōw לְגֻבָּ֖א into the den lə·ḡub·bā דִּ֣י of dî אַרְיָוָתָ֑א lions . ’ar·yā·wā·ṯā מַלְכָּא֙ The king mal·kā וְאָמַ֣ר . . . wə·’ā·mar עָנֵ֤ה said ‘ā·nêh לְדָנִיֵּ֔אל to Daniel , lə·ḏā·nî·yêl אֱלָהָ֗ךְ “ May your God , ’ĕ·lā·hāḵ דִּ֣י whom dî אַנְתָּה you ʾan·tå̄h פָּֽלַֽח־ serve pā·laḥ- לֵהּ֙ lêh בִּתְדִירָ֔א continually , biṯ·ḏî·rā ה֖וּא . . . hū יְשֵׁיזְבִנָּֽךְ׃ deliver you ! ” yə·šê·zə·ḇin·nāḵ Daniel 6:17 חֲדָ֔ה A ḥă·ḏāh אֶ֣בֶן stone ’e·ḇen וְהֵיתָ֙יִת֙ was brought wə·hê·ṯā·yiṯ וְשֻׂמַ֖ת and placed wə·śu·maṯ עַל־ over ‘al- פֻּ֣ם the mouth pum גֻּבָּ֑א of the den , gub·bā מַלְכָּ֜א and the king mal·kā וְחַתְמַ֨הּ sealed it wə·ḥaṯ·mah בְּעִזְקְתֵ֗הּ with his own signet ring bə·‘iz·qə·ṯêh וּבְעִזְקָת֙ and with the rings ū·ḇə·‘iz·qāṯ רַבְרְבָנ֔וֹהִי of his nobles , raḇ·rə·ḇā·nō·w·hî דִּ֛י so that dî לָא־ nothing lā- צְב֖וּ . . . ṣə·ḇū בְּדָנִיֵּֽאל׃ concerning Daniel bə·ḏā·nî·yêl תִשְׁנֵ֥א could be changed . ṯiš·nê Daniel 6:18 אֱ֠דַיִן Then ’ĕ·ḏa·yin מַלְכָּ֤א the king mal·kā אֲזַ֨ל went ’ă·zal לְהֵֽיכְלֵהּ֙ to his palace lə·hê·ḵə·lêh וּבָ֣ת and spent the night ū·ḇāṯ טְוָ֔ת fasting . ṭə·wāṯ לָא־ No lā- וְדַחֲוָ֖ן entertainment wə·ḏa·ḥă·wān הַנְעֵ֣ל was brought han·‘êl קָֽדָמ֑וֹהִי before him , qā·ḏā·mō·w·hî וְשִׁנְתֵּ֖הּ and sleep wə·šin·têh נַדַּ֥ת fled nad·daṯ עֲלֽוֹהִי׃ from him . ‘ă·lō·w·hî Daniel 6:19 בֵּאדַ֣יִן - bê·ḏa·yin בְּנָגְהָ֑א At the first light bə·nā·ḡə·hā בִּשְׁפַּרְפָּרָ֖א of dawn , biš·par·pā·rā מַלְכָּ֔א the king mal·kā יְק֣וּם got up yə·qūm וּבְהִ֨תְבְּהָלָ֔ה and hurried ū·ḇə·hiṯ·bə·hā·lāh אֲזַֽל׃ . . . ’ă·zal לְגֻבָּ֥א to the den lə·ḡub·bā דִֽי־ of ḏî- אַרְיָוָתָ֖א lions . ’ar·yā·wā·ṯā Daniel 6:20 וּכְמִקְרְבֵ֣הּ When he reached ū·ḵə·miq·rə·ḇêh לְגֻבָּ֔א the den , lə·ḡub·bā זְעִ֑ק he cried out zə·‘iq לְדָ֣נִיֵּ֔אל - lə·ḏā·nî·yêl בְּקָ֥ל in a voice bə·qāl עֲצִ֖יב of anguish ‘ă·ṣîḇ מַלְכָּ֜א - mal·kā וְאָמַ֣ר - wə·’ā·mar עָנֵ֨ה - ‘ā·nêh לְדָנִיֵּ֗אל vvv , lə·ḏā·nî·yêl דָּֽנִיֵּאל֙ “ O Daniel , dā·nî·yêl עֲבֵד֙ servant ‘ă·ḇêḏ חַיָּ֔א of the living ḥay·yā אֱלָהָ֣א God , ’ĕ·lā·hā
