לֹ֥א she is not lō תֵצֵ֖א to go free ṯê·ṣê כְּצֵ֥את . . . kə·ṣêṯ הָעֲבָדִֽים׃ as the menservants do . hā·‘ă·ḇā·ḏîm Exodus 21:8 אִם־ If ’im- רָעָ֞ה she is displeasing rā·‘āh בְּעֵינֵ֧י in the eyes bə·‘ê·nê אֲדֹנֶ֛יהָ of her master ’ă·ḏō·ne·hā אֲשֶׁר־ who ’ă·šer- יְעָדָ֖הּ had designated her for himself , yə·‘ā·ḏāh וְהֶפְדָּ֑הּ he must allow her to be redeemed . wə·hep̄·dāh לֹא He has no lō יִמְשֹׁ֥ל right yim·šōl לְמָכְרָ֖הּ to sell her lə·mā·ḵə·rāh לְעַ֥ם to foreigners lə·‘am נָכְרִ֛י . . . nā·ḵə·rî לֹא־ . . . , lō- בְּבִגְדוֹ־ since he has broken faith bə·ḇiḡ·ḏōw- בָֽהּ׃ with her . ḇāh Exodus 21:9 וְאִם־ And if wə·’im- יִֽיעָדֶ֑נָּה he chooses her yî·‘ā·ḏen·nāh לִבְנ֖וֹ for his son , liḇ·nōw יַעֲשֶׂה־ he must deal ya·‘ă·śeh- לָּֽהּ׃ with her lāh כְּמִשְׁפַּ֥ט as with kə·miš·paṭ הַבָּנ֖וֹת a daughter . hab·bā·nō·wṯ Exodus 21:10 אִם־ If ’im- יִֽקַּֽח־ he takes yiq·qaḥ- ל֑וֹ lōw אַחֶ֖רֶת another wife , ’a·ḥe·reṯ לֹ֥א he must not lō יִגְרָֽע׃ reduce yiḡ·rā‘ שְׁאֵרָ֛הּ the food , šə·’ê·rāh כְּסוּתָ֥הּ clothing , kə·sū·ṯāh וְעֹנָתָ֖הּ or marital rights [of his first wife] . wə·‘ō·nā·ṯāh Exodus 21:11 וְאִם־ If, however , wə·’im- לֹ֥א he does not lō יַעֲשֶׂ֖ה provide ya·‘ă·śeh לָ֑הּ her lāh אֵ֔לֶּה with these ’êl·leh שְׁלָ֨שׁ־ three things , šə·lāš- וְיָצְאָ֥ה she is free to go wə·yā·ṣə·’āh חִנָּ֖ם . . . ḥin·nām אֵ֥ין without ’ên כָּֽסֶף׃ס monetary payment . kā·sep̄ Exodus 21:12 מַכֵּ֥ה Whoever strikes mak·kêh וָמֵ֖ת and kills wā·mêṯ אִ֛ישׁ a man ’îš מ֥וֹת must surely mō·wṯ יוּמָֽת׃ be put to death . yū·māṯ Exodus 21:13 וַאֲשֶׁר֙ If, however , wa·’ă·šer לֹ֣א he did not lō צָדָ֔ה lie in wait , ṣā·ḏāh וְהָאֱלֹהִ֖ים but God wə·hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm אִנָּ֣ה allowed it to happen ’in·nāh לְיָד֑וֹ . . . , lə·yā·ḏōw וְשַׂמְתִּ֤י then I will appoint wə·śam·tî לְךָ֙ for you lə·ḵā מָק֔וֹם a place mā·qō·wm אֲשֶׁ֥ר where ’ă·šer יָנ֖וּס he may flee yā·nūs שָֽׁמָּה׃ס . . . . šām·māh Exodus 21:14 וְכִֽי־ But if wə·ḵî- אִ֛ישׁ a man ’îš בְעָרְמָ֑ה schemes ḇə·‘ā·rə·māh יָזִ֥ד and acts willfully yā·ziḏ עַל־ against ‘al- רֵעֵ֖הוּ his neighbor rê·‘ê·hū לְהָרְג֣וֹ to kill him , lə·hā·rə·ḡōw תִּקָּחֶ֖נּוּ you must take him tiq·qā·ḥen·nū מֵעִ֣ם away from mê·‘im מִזְבְּחִ֔י My altar miz·bə·ḥî לָמֽוּת׃ס to be put to death . lā·mūṯ Exodus 21:15 וּמַכֵּ֥ה Whoever strikes ū·mak·kêh אָבִ֛יו his father ’ā·ḇîw וְאִמּ֖וֹ or mother wə·’im·mōw
