חֹתְנ֑וֹ to his father-in-law ḥō·ṯə·nōw וַיַּ֕עַשׂ and did way·ya·‘aś כֹּ֖ל everything kōl אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer אָמָֽר׃ he said . ’ā·mār Exodus 18:25 מֹשֶׁ֤ה So Moses mō·šeh וַיִּבְחַ֨ר chose way·yiḇ·ḥar חַ֙יִל֙ capable ḥa·yil אַנְשֵׁי־ men ’an·šê- מִכָּל־ from all mik·kāl יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיִּתֵּ֥ן and made way·yit·tên אֹתָ֛ם them ’ō·ṯām רָאשִׁ֖ים heads rā·šîm עַל־ over ‘al- הָעָ֑ם the people hā·‘ām שָׂרֵ֤י as leaders śā·rê אֲלָפִים֙ of thousands , ’ă·lā·p̄îm שָׂרֵ֣י . . . śā·rê מֵא֔וֹת of hundreds , mê·’ō·wṯ שָׂרֵ֥י . . . śā·rê חֲמִשִּׁ֖ים of fifties , ḥă·miš·šîm וְשָׂרֵ֥י . . . wə·śā·rê עֲשָׂרֹֽת׃ and of tens . ‘ă·śā·rōṯ Exodus 18:26 וְשָׁפְט֥וּ And they judged wə·šā·p̄ə·ṭū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָעָ֖ם the people hā·‘ām בְּכָל־ at all bə·ḵāl עֵ֑ת times ; ‘êṯ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְבִיא֣וּן they would bring yə·ḇî·’ūn הַקָּשֶׁה֙ the difficult haq·qā·šeh הַדָּבָ֤ר cases had·dā·ḇār אֶל־ to ’el- מֹשֶׁ֔ה Moses , mō·šeh וְכָל־ but any wə·ḵāl הַקָּטֹ֖ן minor haq·qā·ṭōn הַדָּבָ֥ר issue had·dā·ḇār יִשְׁפּוּט֥וּ they would judge yiš·pū·ṭū הֵֽם׃ themselves . hêm Exodus 18:27 מֹשֶׁ֖ה Then Moses mō·šeh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיְשַׁלַּ֥ח sent way·šal·laḥ חֹתְנ֑וֹ his father-in-law {on his way} , ḥō·ṯə·nōw וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ and [Jethro] returned way·yê·leḵ ל֖וֹ lōw אֶל־ to ’el- אַרְצֽוֹ׃פ his own land . ’ar·ṣōw Exodus 19:1 הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֔י In the third haš·šə·lî·šî בַּחֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ month , ba·ḥō·ḏeš הַזֶּ֔ה on the same haz·zeh בַּיּ֣וֹם day [of the month] bay·yō·wm בְּנֵי־ that the Israelites bə·nê- יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl לְצֵ֥את had left lə·ṣêṯ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ the land mê·’e·reṣ מִצְרָ֑יִם of Egypt , miṣ·rā·yim בָּ֖אוּ they came bā·’ū מִדְבַּ֥ר [to] the Wilderness miḏ·bar סִינָֽי׃ of Sinai . sî·nāy Exodus 19:2 וַיִּסְע֣וּ After they had set out way·yis·‘ū מֵרְפִידִ֗ים from Rephidim , mê·rə·p̄î·ḏîm וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ they entered way·yā·ḇō·’ū מִדְבַּ֣ר the Wilderness miḏ·bar סִינַ֔י of Sinai , sî·nay וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ - way·ya·ḥă·nū יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל and Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיִּֽחַן־ camped way·yi·ḥan- שָׁ֥ם there šām בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר - bam·miḏ·bār נֶ֥גֶד in front of ne·ḡeḏ הָהָֽר׃ the mountain . hā·hār Exodus 19:3 וּמֹשֶׁ֥ה Then Moses ū·mō·šeh עָלָ֖ה went up ‘ā·lāh אֶל־ to ’el- הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים God , hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm יְהוָה֙ and YHWH Yah·weh וַיִּקְרָ֨א called way·yiq·rā אֵלָ֤יו to him ’ê·lāw מִן־ from min- הָהָ֣ר the mountain , hā·hār כֹּ֤ה “ This is what kōh
