צַדִּ֥יק both the righteous ṣad·dîq וְרָשָֽׁע׃ and the wicked . wə·rā·šā‘ Ezekiel 21:4 יַ֛עַן Because ya·‘an אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- הִכְרַ֥תִּי I will cut off hiḵ·rat·tî מִמֵּ֖ךְ mim·mêḵ צַדִּ֣יק both the righteous ṣad·dîq וְרָשָׁ֑ע and the wicked , wə·rā·šā‘ חַרְבִּ֧י My sword ḥar·bî לָ֠כֵן - lā·ḵên תֵּצֵ֨א will be tê·ṣê מִתַּעְרָ֛הּ unsheathed mit·ta‘·rāh אֶל־ against ’el- כָּל־ everyone kāl- בָּשָׂ֖ר . . . bā·śār מִנֶּ֥גֶב from south min·ne·ḡeḇ צָפֽוֹן׃ to north . ṣā·p̄ō·wn Ezekiel 21:5 כָּל־ Then all kāl- בָּשָׂ֔ר flesh bā·śār וְיָֽדְעוּ֙ will know wə·yā·ḏə·‘ū כִּ֚י that kî אֲנִ֣י I , ’ă·nî יְהוָ֔ה YHWH , Yah·weh הוֹצֵ֥אתִי have taken hō·w·ṣê·ṯî חַרְבִּ֖י My sword ḥar·bî מִתַּעְרָ֑הּ from its sheath , mit·ta‘·rāh לֹ֥א not lō תָשׁ֖וּב to return it ṯā·šūḇ עֽוֹד׃ס again . ’ ‘ō·wḏ Ezekiel 21:6 וְאַתָּ֥ה But you , wə·’at·tāh בֶן־ son ḇen- אָדָ֖ם of man , ’ā·ḏām הֵֽאָנַ֑ח groan ! hê·’ā·naḥ תֵּֽאָנַ֖ח Groan tê·’ā·naḥ לְעֵינֵיהֶֽם׃ before their eyes lə·‘ê·nê·hem בְּשִׁבְר֤וֹן with a broken bə·šiḇ·rō·wn מָתְנַ֙יִם֙ heart mā·ṯə·na·yim וּבִמְרִיר֔וּת and bitter grief . ū·ḇim·rî·rūṯ Ezekiel 21:7 וְהָיָה֙ And wə·hā·yāh כִּֽי־ when kî- יֹאמְר֣וּ they ask yō·mə·rū אֵלֶ֔יךָ , ’ê·le·ḵā עַל־ ‘ Why ‘al- מָ֖ה . . . māh אַתָּ֣ה are you ’at·tāh נֶאֱנָ֑ח groaning ? ’ ne·’ĕ·nāḥ וְאָמַרְתָּ֡ you are to say , wə·’ā·mar·tā אֶל־ ‘ Because of ’el- שְׁמוּעָ֣ה the news šə·mū·‘āh כִֽי־ that ḵî- בָאָ֡ה is coming . ḇā·’āh כָּל־ Every kāl- לֵב֩ heart lêḇ וְנָמֵ֣ס will melt , wə·nā·mês כָל־ and every ḵāl יָדַ֜יִם hand yā·ḏa·yim וְרָפ֨וּ will go limp . wə·rā·p̄ū כָל־ Every ḵāl ר֗וּחַ spirit rū·aḥ וְכִהֲתָ֣ה will faint , wə·ḵi·hă·ṯāh וְכָל־ and every wə·ḵāl בִּרְכַּ֙יִם֙ knee bir·ka·yim תֵּלַ֣כְנָה will turn to tê·laḵ·nāh מַּ֔יִם water . ’ ma·yim הִנֵּ֤ה Yes , hin·nêh בָאָה֙ it is coming ḇā·’āh וְנִֽהְיָ֔תָה and it will surely happen , wə·nih·yā·ṯāh נְאֻ֖ם declares nə·’um אֲדֹנָ֥י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy יְהוִֽה׃פ YHWH . ” Yah·weh Ezekiel 21:8 דְבַר־ Again the word ḏə·ḇar- יְהוָ֖ה of YHWH Yah·weh וַיְהִ֥י came way·hî אֵלַ֥י to me , ’ê·lay לֵאמֹֽר׃ saying , lê·mōr Ezekiel 21:9 בֶּן־ “ Son ben- אָדָ֕ם of man , ’ā·ḏām הִנָּבֵא֙ prophesy hin·nā·ḇê אָמַ֣ר and tell them ’ā·mar כֹּ֖ה that this is what kōh אֲדֹנָ֑י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy אֱמֹ֕ר . . . ’ĕ·mōr
