שָׁ֖וְא were empty šāw וּמַדּוּחִֽים׃ס and misleading . ū·mad·dū·ḥîm Lamentations 2:15 כָּל־ All kāl- עֹ֣בְרֵי who pass by ‘ō·ḇə·rê דֶ֔רֶךְ . . . ḏe·reḵ סָֽפְק֨וּ clap sā·p̄ə·qū כַּפַּ֙יִם֙ their hands kap·pa·yim עָלַ֤יִךְ at you [in scorn] . ‘ā·la·yiḵ שָֽׁרְקוּ֙ They hiss šā·rə·qū וַיָּנִ֣עוּ and shake way·yā·ni·‘ū רֹאשָׁ֔ם their heads rō·šām עַל־ at ‘al- בַּ֖ת the Daughter baṯ יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם of Jerusalem : yə·rū·šā·lim הֲזֹ֣את “ Is this hă·zōṯ הָעִ֗יר the city hā·‘îr שֶׁיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ that was called še·yō·mə·rū כְּלִ֣ילַת the perfection kə·lî·laṯ יֹ֔פִי of beauty , yō·p̄î מָשׂ֖וֹשׂ the joy mā·śō·wś לְכָל־ of all lə·ḵāl הָאָֽרֶץ׃ס the earth ? ” hā·’ā·reṣ Lamentations 2:16 כָּל־ All kāl- א֣וֹיְבַ֔יִךְ your enemies ’ō·wy·ḇa·yiḵ פָּצ֨וּ open pā·ṣū פִּיהֶם֙ their mouths pî·hem עָלַ֤יִךְ against you . ‘ā·la·yiḵ שָֽׁרְקוּ֙ They hiss šā·rə·qū וַיַּֽחַרְקוּ־ and gnash way·ya·ḥar·qū- שֵׁ֔ן their teeth , šên אָמְר֖וּ saying , ’ā·mə·rū בִּלָּ֑עְנוּ “ We have swallowed her up . bil·lā·‘ə·nū אַ֣ךְ . . . ’aḵ זֶ֥ה This zeh הַיּ֛וֹם is the day hay·yō·wm שֶׁקִּוִּינֻ֖הוּ for which we have waited . šeq·qiw·wî·nu·hū מָצָ֥אנוּ We have lived mā·ṣā·nū רָאִֽינוּ׃ס to see it ! ” rā·’î·nū Lamentations 2:17 יְהוָ֜ה YHWH Yah·weh עָשָׂ֨ה has done ‘ā·śāh אֲשֶׁ֣ר what ’ă·šer זָמָ֗ם He planned ; zā·mām בִּצַּ֤ע He has accomplished biṣ·ṣa‘ אֶמְרָתוֹ֙ His decree , ’em·rā·ṯōw אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ’ă·šer צִוָּ֣ה He ordained ṣiw·wāh מִֽימֵי־ in days mî·mê- קֶ֔דֶם of old ; qe·ḏem הָרַ֖ס He has overthrown you hā·ras וְלֹ֣א without wə·lō חָמָ֑ל pity . ḥā·māl אוֹיֵ֔ב He has let the enemy ’ō·w·yêḇ וַיְשַׂמַּ֤ח gloat way·śam·maḥ עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ over you ‘ā·la·yiḵ הֵרִ֖ים and exalted hê·rîm קֶ֥רֶן the horn qe·ren צָרָֽיִךְ׃ס of your foes . ṣā·rā·yiḵ Lamentations 2:18 לִבָּ֖ם The hearts [of the people] lib·bām צָעַ֥ק cry out ṣā·‘aq אֶל־ to ’el- אֲדֹנָ֑י the Lord . ’ă·ḏō·nāy חוֹמַ֣ת O wall ḥō·w·maṯ בַּת־ of the Daughter baṯ- צִ֠יּוֹן of Zion , ṣî·yō·wn דִּמְעָה֙ let your tears dim·‘āh הוֹרִ֨ידִי run down hō·w·rî·ḏî כַנַּ֤חַל like a river ḵan·na·ḥal יוֹמָ֣ם day yō·w·mām וָלַ֔יְלָה and night . wā·lay·lāh תִּתְּנִ֤י Give tit·tə·nî לָ֔ךְ yourself lāḵ אַֽל־ no ’al- פוּגַת֙ relief , p̄ū·ḡaṯ עֵינֵֽךְ׃ס and your eyes ‘ê·nêḵ בַּת־ . . . baṯ- אַל־ no ’al- תִּדֹּ֖ם rest . tid·dōm Lamentations 2:19 ק֣וּמִי׀ Arise , qū·mî רֹ֣נִּי cry out rōn·nî בַלַּיִל in the night ḇal·la·yil לְרֹאשׁ֙ from the first lə·rōš אַשְׁמֻר֔וֹת watch of the night . ’aš·mu·rō·wṯ שִׁפְכִ֤י Pour out šip̄·ḵî לִבֵּ֔ךְ your heart lib·bêḵ כַמַּ֙יִם֙ like water ḵam·ma·yim
