נַפְשִׁ֑י my soul . nap̄·šî בָנַי֙ My children ḇā·nay הָי֤וּ are hā·yū שֽׁוֹמֵמִ֔ים destitute šō·w·mê·mîm כִּ֥י because kî אוֹיֵֽב׃ס the enemy ’ō·w·yêḇ גָבַ֖ר has prevailed . ḡā·ḇar Lamentations 1:17 צִיּ֜וֹן Zion ṣî·yō·wn פֵּֽרְשָׂ֨ה stretches out pê·rə·śāh בְּיָדֶ֗יהָ her hands , bə·yā·ḏe·hā אֵ֤ין but there is no ’ên מְנַחֵם֙ one to comfort mə·na·ḥêm לָ֔הּ her . lāh יְהוָ֛ה YHWH Yah·weh צִוָּ֧ה has decreed ṣiw·wāh לְיַעֲקֹ֖ב against Jacob lə·ya·‘ă·qōḇ סְבִיבָ֣יו that his neighbors sə·ḇî·ḇāw צָרָ֑יו become his foes . ṣā·rāw יְרוּשָׁלִַ֛ם Jerusalem yə·rū·šā·lim הָיְתָ֧ה has become hā·yə·ṯāh לְנִדָּ֖ה an unclean thing lə·nid·dāh בֵּינֵיהֶֽם׃ס among them . bê·nê·hem Lamentations 1:18 יְהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh צַדִּ֥יק is righteous ṣad·dîq ה֛וּא . . . , hū כִּ֣י for kî מָרִ֑יתִי I have rebelled mā·rî·ṯî פִ֣יהוּ against His command . p̄î·hū שִׁמְעוּ־ Listen , šim·‘ū- נָ֣א . . . nā כָל־ all you people ḵāl עַמִּים . . . ; ʿam·mīm וּרְאוּ֙ look upon ū·rə·’ū מַכְאֹבִ֔י my suffering . maḵ·’ō·ḇî וּבַחוּרַ֖י My young men ū·ḇa·ḥū·ray בְּתוּלֹתַ֥י and maidens bə·ṯū·lō·ṯay הָלְכ֥וּ have gone hā·lə·ḵū בַשֶּֽׁבִי׃ס into captivity . ḇaš·še·ḇî Lamentations 1:19 קָרָ֤אתִי I called out qā·rā·ṯî לַֽמְאַהֲבַי֙ to my lovers , lam·’a·hă·ḇay הֵ֣מָּה but they hêm·māh רִמּ֔וּנִי have betrayed me . rim·mū·nî כֹּהֲנַ֥י My priests kō·hă·nay וּזְקֵנַ֖י and elders ū·zə·qê·nay גָּוָ֑עוּ perished gā·wā·‘ū בָּעִ֣יר in the city bā·‘îr כִּֽי־ while kî- בִקְשׁ֥וּ they searched for ḇiq·šū אֹ֙כֶל֙ food ’ō·ḵel לָ֔מוֹ lā·mōw וְיָשִׁ֖יבוּ to keep themselves wə·yā·šî·ḇū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- נַפְשָֽׁם׃ס alive . nap̄·šām Lamentations 1:20 רְאֵ֨ה See , rə·’êh יְהוָ֤ה O YHWH , Yah·weh כִּֽי־ how kî- צַר־ distressed ṣar- לִי֙ I [am] ! lî חֳמַרְמָ֔רוּ I am churning ḥo·mar·mā·rū מֵעַ֣י within ; mê·‘ay לִבִּי֙ my heart lib·bî נֶהְפַּ֤ךְ is pounding neh·paḵ בְּקִרְבִּ֔י within me , bə·qir·bî כִּ֥י for kî מָר֖וֹ I have been most rebellious mā·rōw מָרִ֑יתִי . . . . mā·rî·ṯî מִח֥וּץ Outside , mi·ḥūṣ חֶ֖רֶב the sword ḥe·reḇ שִׁכְּלָה־ bereaves ; šik·kə·lāh- בַּבַּ֥יִת inside , bab·ba·yiṯ כַּמָּֽוֶת׃ס there is death . kam·mā·weṯ Lamentations 1:21 שָׁמְע֞וּ People have heard šā·mə·‘ū אָ֗נִי my ’ā·nî נֶאֱנָחָ֣ה groaning , ne·’ĕ·nā·ḥāh כִּ֧י kî אֵ֤ין but there is no ’ên מְנַחֵם֙ one to comfort mə·na·ḥêm לִ֔י me . lî כָּל־ All kāl- אֹ֨יְבַ֜י my enemies ’ō·yə·ḇay שָׁמְע֤וּ have heard šā·mə·‘ū רָֽעָתִי֙ of my trouble ; rā·‘ā·ṯî שָׂ֔שׂוּ they are glad śā·śū כִּ֥י that kî אַתָּ֖ה You ’at·tāh
