הַיּ֣וֹם . . . hay·yō·wm הַזֶּ֑ה . . . . haz·zeh לַהֲסִירָ֖הּ Therefore I will remove it la·hă·sî·rāh מֵעַ֥ל from mê·‘al פָּנָֽי׃ My presence pā·nāy Jeremiah 32:32 עַל֩ because of ‘al כָּל־ all kāl- רָעַ֨ת the evil rā·‘aṯ בְּנֵֽי־ the children bə·nê- יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וּבְנֵ֣י and ū·ḇə·nê יְהוּדָ֗ה of Judah yə·hū·ḏāh אֲשֶׁ֤ר - ’ă·šer עָשׂוּ֙ have done ‘ā·śū לְהַכְעִסֵ֔נִי to provoke Me to anger — lə·haḵ·‘i·sê·nî הֵ֤מָּה they , hêm·māh מַלְכֵיהֶם֙ their kings , mal·ḵê·hem שָֽׂרֵיהֶ֔ם their officials , śā·rê·hem כֹּהֲנֵיהֶ֖ם their priests kō·hă·nê·hem וּנְבִֽיאֵיהֶ֑ם and prophets , ū·nə·ḇî·’ê·hem וְאִ֣ישׁ the men wə·’îš יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah , yə·hū·ḏāh וְיֹשְׁבֵ֖י and the residents wə·yō·šə·ḇê יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ of Jerusalem . yə·rū·šā·lim Jeremiah 32:33 וַיִּפְנ֥וּ They have turned way·yip̄·nū עֹ֖רֶף their backs ‘ō·rep̄ אֵלַ֛י to Me ’ê·lay וְלֹ֣א and not wə·lō פָנִ֑ים their faces . p̄ā·nîm וְלַמֵּ֤ד Though I taught wə·lam·mêḏ אֹתָם֙ them ’ō·ṯām הַשְׁכֵּ֣ם again and again haš·kêm וְלַמֵּ֔ד . . . , wə·lam·mêḏ וְאֵינָ֥ם they would not wə·’ê·nām שֹׁמְעִ֖ים listen šō·mə·‘îm לָקַ֥חַת or respond lā·qa·ḥaṯ מוּסָֽר׃ to discipline . mū·sār Jeremiah 32:34 וַיָּשִׂ֣ימוּ They have placed way·yā·śî·mū שִׁקּֽוּצֵיהֶ֗ם their abominations šiq·qū·ṣê·hem בַּבַּ֛יִת in the house bab·ba·yiṯ אֲשֶׁר־ that ’ă·šer- נִקְרָֽא־ bears niq·rā- שְׁמִ֥י My Name , šə·mî עָלָ֖יו and so ‘ā·lāw לְטַמְּאֽוֹ׃ have defiled it . lə·ṭam·mə·’ōw Jeremiah 32:35 וַיִּבְנוּ֩ They have built way·yiḇ·nū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- בָּמ֨וֹת the high places bā·mō·wṯ הַבַּ֜עַל of Baal hab·ba·‘al אֲשֶׁ֣ר׀ ’ă·šer בְּגֵ֣יא in the Valley of Hinnom bə·ḡê בֶן־ to make their sons ḇen- הִנֹּ֗ם . . . hin·nōm בְּנוֹתֵיהֶם֮ and daughters bə·nō·w·ṯê·hem לְ֠הַעֲבִיר pass through lə·ha·‘ă·ḇîr אֶת־ - ’eṯ- בְּנֵיהֶ֣ם - bə·nê·hem וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- לַמֹּלֶךְ֒ the fire to Molech — lam·mō·leḵ אֲשֶׁ֣ר something ’ă·šer לֹֽא־ I never lō- צִוִּיתִ֗ים commanded them , ṣiw·wî·ṯîm וְלֹ֤א nor had it ever wə·lō עָֽלְתָה֙ entered ‘ā·lə·ṯāh עַל־ . . . ‘al- לִבִּ֔י My mind , lib·bî לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת that they should commit la·‘ă·śō·wṯ הַזֹּ֑את such haz·zōṯ לְמַ֖עַן . . . lə·ma·‘an הַתּוֹעֵבָ֣ה an abomination hat·tō·w·‘ê·ḇāh יְהוּדָֽה׃ס and cause Judah yə·hū·ḏāh הַחֲטִי to sin . ha·ḥă·ṭī אֶת־ - ’eṯ- Jeremiah 32:36 וְעַתָּ֕ה Now wə·‘at·tāh לָכֵ֛ן therefore , lā·ḵên אֶל־ about ’el- הַזֹּ֜את this haz·zōṯ הָעִ֨יר city hā·‘îr אֲשֶׁ֣ר׀ of which ’ă·šer אַתֶּ֣ם you ’at·tem אֹמְרִ֗ים say , ’ō·mə·rîm נִתְּנָה֙ ‘ It will be delivered nit·tə·nāh בְּיַ֣ד into the hand bə·yaḏ מֶֽלֶךְ־ of the king me·leḵ- בָּבֶ֔ל of Babylon bā·ḇel
