עָשִׂ֖יתִי I acted , ‘ā·śî·ṯî וַתָּבֹֽאנָה׃ and they came to pass . wat·tā·ḇō·nāh Isaiah 48:4 מִדַּעְתִּ֕י For I knew mid·da‘·tî כִּ֥י that kî אָ֑תָּה you ’āt·tāh וְגִ֤יד . . . wə·ḡîḏ קָשֶׁ֖ה are stubborn ; qā·šeh עָרְפֶּ֔ךָ your neck ‘ā·rə·pe·ḵā בַּרְזֶל֙ is iron bar·zel וּמִצְחֲךָ֖ and your forehead ū·miṣ·ḥă·ḵā נְחוּשָֽׁה׃ [is] bronze . nə·ḥū·šāh Isaiah 48:5 וָאַגִּ֤יד Therefore I declared it wā·’ag·gîḏ לְךָ֙ to you lə·ḵā מֵאָ֔ז long ago ; mê·’āz הִשְׁמַעְתִּ֑יךָ I announced it hiš·ma‘·tî·ḵā בְּטֶ֥רֶם before bə·ṭe·rem תָּב֖וֹא it came to pass , tā·ḇō·w פֶּן־ so that you could not pen- תֹּאמַר֙ claim , tō·mar עָצְבִּ֣י ‘ My idol ‘ā·ṣə·bî עָשָׂ֔ם has done this ; ‘ā·śām וּפִסְלִ֥י my carved image ū·p̄is·lî וְנִסְכִּ֖י and molten god wə·nis·kî צִוָּֽם׃ has ordained it . ’ ṣiw·wām Isaiah 48:6 שָׁמַ֤עְתָּֽ You have heard [these things] ; šā·ma‘·tā חֲזֵה֙ look at them ḥă·zêh כֻּלָּ֔הּ all . kul·lāh וְאַתֶּ֖ם Will you wə·’at·tem הֲל֣וֹא not hă·lō·w תַגִּ֑ידוּ acknowledge [them]? ṯag·gî·ḏū מֵעַ֔תָּה From now on mê·‘at·tāh הִשְׁמַעְתִּ֤יךָ I will tell you of hiš·ma‘·tî·ḵā חֲדָשׁוֹת֙ new things , ḥă·ḏā·šō·wṯ וּנְצֻר֖וֹת hidden things ū·nə·ṣu·rō·wṯ וְלֹ֥א unknown to you wə·lō יְדַעְתָּֽם׃ . . . . yə·ḏa‘·tām Isaiah 48:7 נִבְרְאוּ֙ They are created niḇ·rə·’ū עַתָּ֤ה now , ‘at·tāh וְלֹ֣א and not wə·lō מֵאָ֔ז long ago ; mê·’āz וְלֹ֣א you have not wə·lō שְׁמַעְתָּ֑ם heard of them šə·ma‘·tām וְלִפְנֵי־ before wə·lip̄·nê- י֖וֹם today . yō·wm פֶּן־ So you cannot pen- תֹּאמַ֖ר claim , tō·mar הִנֵּ֥ה ‘ I already hin·nêh יְדַעְתִּֽין׃ knew them ! ’ yə·ḏa‘·tîn Isaiah 48:8 גַּ֣ם - gam לֹֽא־ You have never lō- שָׁמַ֗עְתָּ heard ; šā·ma‘·tā גַּ֚ם . . . gam לֹ֣א you have never lō יָדַ֔עְתָּ understood ; yā·ḏa‘·tā גַּ֕ם . . . gam מֵאָ֖ז for a long time mê·’āz אָזְנֶ֑ךָ your ears ’ā·zə·ne·ḵā לֹא־ have not lō- פִתְּחָ֣ה been open . p̄it·tə·ḥāh כִּ֤י For kî יָדַ֙עְתִּי֙ I knew yā·ḏa‘·tî בָּג֣וֹד . . . bā·ḡō·wḏ תִּבְגּ֔וֹד how deceitful you are ; tiḇ·gō·wḏ קֹ֥רָא you have been called qō·rā לָֽךְ׃ lāḵ וּפֹשֵׁ֥עַ a rebel ū·p̄ō·šê·a‘ מִבֶּ֖טֶן from birth . mib·be·ṭen Isaiah 48:9 לְמַ֤עַן For the sake lə·ma·‘an שְׁמִי֙ of My name šə·mî אַאֲרִ֣יךְ I will delay ’a·’ă·rîḵ אַפִּ֔י My wrath ; ’ap·pî וּתְהִלָּתִ֖י for the sake of My praise ū·ṯə·hil·lā·ṯî אֶחֱטָם־ I will restrain it ’e·ḥĕ·ṭām- לָ֑ךְ , lāḵ לְבִלְתִּ֖י so that you will not lə·ḇil·tî הַכְרִיתֶֽךָ׃ be cut off . haḵ·rî·ṯe·ḵā Isaiah 48:10 הִנֵּ֥ה See , hin·nêh צְרַפְתִּ֖יךָ I have refined you , ṣə·rap̄·tî·ḵā וְלֹ֣א but not wə·lō
