מִ֥י whom mî תְדַמְּי֖וּנִי will you liken Me , ṯə·ḏam·mə·yū·nî וְאֶשְׁוֶ֑ה or who is My equal ? ” wə·’eš·weh יֹאמַ֖ר asks yō·mar קָדֽוֹשׁ׃ the Holy One . qā·ḏō·wōš Isaiah 40:26 שְׂאוּ־ Lift up śə·’ū- עֵינֵיכֶ֤ם your eyes ‘ê·nê·ḵem מָר֨וֹם on high mā·rō·wm וּרְאוּ֙ - : ū·rə·’ū מִי־ Who mî- בָרָ֣א created ḇā·rā אֵ֔לֶּה all these ? ’êl·leh הַמּוֹצִ֥יא He leads forth ham·mō·w·ṣî צְבָאָ֑ם the starry host ṣə·ḇā·’ām בְמִסְפָּ֖ר by number ; ḇə·mis·pār יִקְרָ֔א He calls yiq·rā לְכֻלָּם֙ each one lə·ḵul·lām בְּשֵׁ֣ם by name . bə·šêm מֵרֹ֤ב Because of His great mê·rōḇ אוֹנִים֙ power ’ō·w·nîm וְאַמִּ֣יץ and mighty wə·’am·mîṣ כֹּ֔חַ strength , kō·aḥ לֹ֥א not lō אִ֖ישׁ one of them ’îš נֶעְדָּֽר׃ס is missing . ne‘·dār Isaiah 40:27 לָ֤מָּה Why lām·māh תֹאמַר֙ do you say , ṯō·mar יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב O Jacob , ya·‘ă·qōḇ וּתְדַבֵּ֖ר and why do you assert , ū·ṯə·ḏab·bêr יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל O Israel , yiś·rā·’êl דַרְכִּי֙ “ My way ḏar·kî נִסְתְּרָ֤ה is hidden nis·tə·rāh מֵֽיְהוָ֔ה from YHWH , Yah·weh מִשְׁפָּטִ֥י and my claim miš·pā·ṭî יַעֲבֽוֹר׃ is ignored ya·‘ă·ḇō·wr וּמֵאֱלֹהַ֖י by my God ”? ū·mê·’ĕ·lō·hay Isaiah 40:28 הֲל֨וֹא Do you not hă·lō·w יָדַ֜עְתָּ know ? yā·ḏa‘·tā אִם־ . . . ’im- לֹ֣א Have you not lō שָׁמַ֗עְתָּ heard ? šā·ma‘·tā יְהוָה֙ YHWH Yah·weh עוֹלָ֤ם׀ is the everlasting ‘ō·w·lām אֱלֹהֵ֨י God , ’ĕ·lō·hê בּוֹרֵא֙ the Creator bō·w·rê קְצ֣וֹת of the ends qə·ṣō·wṯ הָאָ֔רֶץ of the earth . hā·’ā·reṣ לֹ֥א He will not lō יִיעַ֖ף grow tired yî·‘ap̄ וְלֹ֣א . . . wə·lō יִיגָ֑ע or weary ; yî·ḡā‘ לִתְבוּנָתֽוֹ׃ His understanding liṯ·ḇū·nā·ṯōw אֵ֥ין is beyond ’ên חֵ֖קֶר searching out . ḥê·qer Isaiah 40:29 נֹתֵ֥ן He gives nō·ṯên כֹּ֑חַ power kō·aḥ לַיָּעֵ֖ף to the faint lay·yā·‘êp̄ יַרְבֶּֽה׃ and increases yar·beh עָצְמָ֥ה the strength ‘ā·ṣə·māh וּלְאֵ֥ין of the weak ū·lə·’ên אוֹנִ֖ים . . . . ’ō·w·nîm Isaiah 40:30 נְעָרִ֖ים Even youths nə·‘ā·rîm וְיִֽעֲפ֥וּ grow tired wə·yi·‘ă·p̄ū וְיִגָ֑עוּ and weary , wə·yi·ḡā·‘ū וּבַחוּרִ֖ים and young men ū·ḇa·ḥū·rîm כָּשׁ֥וֹל stumble kā·šō·wl יִכָּשֵֽׁלוּ׃ and fall . yik·kā·šê·lū Isaiah 40:31 וְקוֹיֵ֤ But those who wait wə·qō·w·yê יְהוָה֙ upon YHWH Yah·weh יַחֲלִ֣יפוּ will renew ya·ḥă·lî·p̄ū כֹ֔חַ their strength ; ḵō·aḥ יַעֲל֥וּ they will mount up ya·‘ă·lū אֵ֖בֶר with wings ’ê·ḇer כַּנְּשָׁרִ֑ים like eagles ; kan·nə·šā·rîm יָר֙וּצוּ֙ they will run yā·rū·ṣū וְלֹ֣א and not wə·lō יִיגָ֔עוּ grow weary , yî·ḡā·‘ū יֵלְכ֖וּ they will walk yê·lə·ḵū וְלֹ֥א and not wə·lō יִיעָֽפוּ׃פ faint . yî·‘ā·p̄ū
