לְפָנָֽיו׃ accompanies Him . lə·p̄ā·nāw Isaiah 40:11 כְּרֹעֶה֙ He tends kə·rō·‘eh עֶדְר֣וֹ His flock ‘eḏ·rōw יִרְעֶ֔ה like a shepherd ; yir·‘eh יְקַבֵּ֣ץ He gathers yə·qab·bêṣ טְלָאִ֔ים the lambs ṭə·lā·’îm בִּזְרֹעוֹ֙ in His arms biz·rō·‘ōw יִשָּׂ֑א and carries them yiś·śā וּבְחֵיק֖וֹ close to His heart . ū·ḇə·ḥê·qōw יְנַהֵֽל׃ס He gently leads yə·na·hêl עָל֖וֹת the nursing [ewes] . ‘ā·lō·wṯ Isaiah 40:12 מִֽי־ Who mî- מָדַ֨ד has measured mā·ḏaḏ מַ֗יִם the waters ma·yim בְּשָׁעֳל֜וֹ in the hollow of his hand , bə·šā·‘o·lōw תִּכֵּ֔ן or marked off tik·kên וְשָׁמַ֙יִם֙ the heavens wə·šā·ma·yim בַּזֶּ֣רֶת with the span of his hand? baz·ze·reṯ וְכָ֥ל Who has held wə·ḵāl עֲפַ֣ר the dust ‘ă·p̄ar הָאָ֑רֶץ of the earth hā·’ā·reṣ בַּשָּׁלִ֖שׁ in a basket , baš·šā·liš וְשָׁקַ֤ל or weighed wə·šā·qal הָרִ֔ים the mountains hā·rîm בַּפֶּ֙לֶס֙ on a scale bap·pe·les וּגְבָע֖וֹת and the hills ū·ḡə·ḇā·‘ō·wṯ בְּמֹאזְנָֽיִם׃ with a balance ? bə·mō·zə·nā·yim Isaiah 40:13 מִֽי־ Who mî- תִכֵּ֥ן has directed ṯik·kên אֶת־ - ’eṯ- ר֖וּחַ the Spirit rū·aḥ יְהוָ֑ה of YHWH , Yah·weh וְאִ֥ישׁ . . . wə·’îš יוֹדִיעֶֽנּוּ׃ or informed Him yō·w·ḏî·‘en·nū עֲצָת֖וֹ [as] His counselor ? ‘ă·ṣā·ṯōw Isaiah 40:14 מִ֤י Whom mî נוֹעָץ֙ did He consult nō·w·‘āṣ אֶת־ . . . ’eṯ- וַיְבִינֵ֔הוּ to enlighten Him , way·ḇî·nê·hū וַֽיְלַמְּדֵ֖הוּ and who taught Him way·lam·mə·ḏê·hū בְּאֹ֣רַח the paths bə·’ō·raḥ מִשְׁפָּ֑ט of justice ? miš·pāṭ וַיְלַמְּדֵ֣הוּ Who imparted way·lam·mə·ḏê·hū דַ֔עַת knowledge to Him ḏa·‘aṯ יוֹדִיעֶֽנּוּ׃ and showed Him yō·w·ḏî·‘en·nū וְדֶ֥רֶךְ the way wə·ḏe·reḵ תְּבוּנ֖וֹת of understanding ? tə·ḇū·nō·wṯ Isaiah 40:15 הֵ֤ן Surely hên גּוֹיִם֙ the nations gō·w·yim כְּמַ֣ר are like a drop kə·mar מִדְּלִ֔י in a bucket ; mid·də·lî נֶחְשָׁ֑בוּ they are considered neḥ·šā·ḇū הֵ֥ן . . . hên וּכְשַׁ֥חַק a speck of dust ū·ḵə·ša·ḥaq מֹאזְנַ֖יִם on the scales ; mō·zə·na·yim יִטּֽוֹל׃ He lifts up yiṭ·ṭō·wl אִיִּ֖ים the islands ’î·yîm כַּדַּ֥ק like fine dust . kad·daq Isaiah 40:16 וּלְבָנ֕וֹן Lebanon ū·lə·ḇā·nō·wn אֵ֥ין [is] not ’ên דֵּ֖י sufficient dê בָּעֵ֑ר for fuel , bā·‘êr וְחַיָּת֔וֹ nor its animals wə·ḥay·yā·ṯōw אֵ֥ין . . . ’ên דֵּ֖י enough dê עוֹלָֽה׃ס for a burnt offering . ‘ō·w·lāh Isaiah 40:17 כָּל־ All kāl- הַגּוֹיִ֖ם the nations hag·gō·w·yim כְּאַ֣יִן are as nothing kə·’a·yin נֶגְדּ֑וֹ before Him ; neḡ·dōw נֶחְשְׁבוּ־ He regards them neḥ·šə·ḇū- לֽוֹ׃ lōw מֵאֶ֥פֶס as nothingness mê·’e·p̄es וָתֹ֖הוּ and emptiness . wā·ṯō·hū Isaiah 40:18 מִ֖י To whom mî תְּדַמְּי֣וּן will you liken tə·ḏam·mə·yūn
