Isaiah 36:6 הִנֵּ֣ה Look now , hin·nêh בָטַ֡חְתָּ you are trusting ḇā·ṭaḥ·tā עַל־ in ‘al- עַל־ ‘al- מִצְרַ֔יִם Egypt , miṣ·ra·yim הַזֶּה֙ that haz·zeh הָרָצ֤וּץ splintered hā·rā·ṣūṣ הַקָּנֶ֨ה reed haq·qā·neh מִשְׁעֶנֶת֩ of a staff miš·‘e·neṯ אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ’ă·šer וּבָ֥א vvv ū·ḇā וּנְקָבָ֑הּ will pierce ū·nə·qā·ḇāh בְכַפּ֖וֹ the hand ḇə·ḵap·pōw אִישׁ֙ of anyone ’îš יִסָּמֵ֥ךְ who leans yis·sā·mêḵ עָלָ֔יו on it . ‘ā·lāw כֵּ֚ן Such is kên פַּרְעֹ֣ה Pharaoh par·‘ōh מֶֽלֶךְ־ king me·leḵ- מִצְרַ֔יִם of Egypt miṣ·ra·yim לְכָֽל־ to all lə·ḵāl הַבֹּטְחִ֖ים who trust hab·bō·ṭə·ḥîm עָלָֽיו׃ in him . ‘ā·lāw Isaiah 36:7 וְכִי־ But if wə·ḵî- תֹאמַ֣ר you say ṯō·mar אֵלַ֔י to me , ’ê·lay בָּטָ֑חְנוּ ‘ We trust bā·ṭā·ḥə·nū אֶל־ in ’el- יְהוָ֥ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ our God , ’ ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū ה֗וּא is He hū הֲלוֹא־ not hă·lō·w- אֲשֶׁ֨ר the One ’ă·šer בָּמֹתָ֣יו whose high places bā·mō·ṯāw וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- מִזְבְּחֹתָ֔יו and altars miz·bə·ḥō·ṯāw חִזְקִיָּ֙הוּ֙ Hezekiah ḥiz·qî·yā·hū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הֵסִ֤יר has removed , hê·sîr וַיֹּ֤אמֶר saying way·yō·mer לִֽיהוּדָה֙ to Judah lî·hū·ḏāh וְלִיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם and Jerusalem , wə·lî·rū·šā·lim תִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֽוּ׃ ‘ You must worship tiš·ta·ḥă·wū לִפְנֵ֛י before lip̄·nê הַזֶּ֖ה this haz·zeh הַמִּזְבֵּ֥חַ altar ’ ? ham·miz·bê·aḥ Isaiah 36:8 וְעַתָּה֙ Now, therefore , wə·‘at·tāh הִתְעָ֣רֶב make a bargain hiṯ·‘ā·reḇ נָ֔א . . . nā אֶת־ with ’eṯ- אֲדֹנִ֖י my master , ’ă·ḏō·nî הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ the king ham·me·leḵ אַשּׁ֑וּר of Assyria . ’aš·šūr וְאֶתְּנָ֤ה I will give wə·’et·tə·nāh לְךָ֙ you lə·ḵā אַלְפַּ֣יִם two thousand ’al·pa·yim סוּסִ֔ים horses — sū·sîm אִם־ if ’im- תּוּכַ֕ל you can tū·ḵal לָ֥תֶת put lā·ṯeṯ לְךָ֖ lə·ḵā רֹכְבִ֥ים riders rō·ḵə·ḇîm עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ on them ! ‘ă·lê·hem Isaiah 36:9 וְאֵ֣יךְ For how wə·’êḵ תָּשִׁ֗יב can you repel tā·šîḇ אֵ֠ת - ’êṯ פְּנֵ֨י - pə·nê אַחַ֛ד a single ’a·ḥaḏ פַחַ֥ת officer p̄a·ḥaṯ הַקְטַנִּ֑ים among the least haq·ṭan·nîm אֲדֹנִ֖י of my master’s ’ă·ḏō·nî עַבְדֵ֥י servants ‘aḇ·ḏê וַתִּבְטַ֤ח when you depend wat·tiḇ·ṭaḥ לְךָ֙ . . . lə·ḵā עַל־ on ‘al- מִצְרַ֔יִם Egypt miṣ·ra·yim לְרֶ֖כֶב for chariots lə·re·ḵeḇ וּלְפָרָשִֽׁים׃ and horsemen ? ū·lə·p̄ā·rā·šîm Isaiah 36:10 וְעַתָּה֙ So now , wə·‘at·tāh הֲמִבַּלְעֲדֵ֣י was it apart from hă·mib·bal·‘ă·ḏê יְהוָ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh עָלִ֛יתִי that I have come up ‘ā·lî·ṯî עַל־ against ‘al- הַזֹּ֖את this haz·zōṯ הָאָ֥רֶץ land hā·’ā·reṣ לְהַשְׁחִיתָ֑הּ to destroy it ? lə·haš·ḥî·ṯāh יְהוָה֙ YHWH Himself Yah·weh
