רוֹקֵ֑חַ to the perfumer’s rō·w·qê·aḥ שֶׁ֣מֶן oil , še·men מְעָֽט׃ so a little mə·‘āṭ סִכְל֥וּת folly siḵ·lūṯ יָקָ֛ר outweighs yā·qār מֵחָכְמָ֥ה wisdom mê·ḥā·ḵə·māh מִכָּב֖וֹד and honor . mik·kā·ḇō·wḏ Ecclesiastes 10:2 חָכָם֙ A wise man’s ḥā·ḵām לֵ֤ב heart lêḇ לִֽימִינ֔וֹ inclines to the right , lî·mî·nōw וְלֵ֥ב but the heart wə·lêḇ כְּסִ֖יל of a fool kə·sîl לִשְׂמֹאלֽוֹ׃ to the left . liś·mō·lōw Ecclesiastes 10:3 וְגַם־ Even wə·ḡam- כְּשֶׁהַסָּכָל as the fool kə·šɛ·has·så̄·ḵå̄l הֹלֵ֖ךְ walks hō·lêḵ בַּדֶּ֛רֶךְ along the road , bad·de·reḵ לִבּ֣וֹ his sense lib·bōw חָסֵ֑ר is lacking , ḥā·sêr וְאָמַ֥ר and he shows wə·’ā·mar לַכֹּ֖ל everyone lak·kōl הֽוּא׃ that he hū סָכָ֥ל is a fool . sā·ḵāl Ecclesiastes 10:4 אִם־ If ’im- הַמּוֹשֵׁל֙ the ruler’s ham·mō·wō·šêl ר֤וּחַ temper rū·aḥ תַּעֲלֶ֣ה flares ta·‘ă·leh עָלֶ֔יךָ against you , ‘ā·le·ḵā אַל־ do not ’al- תַּנַּ֑ח abandon tan·naḥ מְקוֹמְךָ֖ your post , mə·qō·wm·ḵā כִּ֣י for kî מַרְפֵּ֔א calmness mar·pê גְּדוֹלִֽים׃ {lays} great gə·ḏō·w·lîm חֲטָאִ֥ים offenses ḥă·ṭā·’îm יַנִּ֖יחַ to rest . yan·nî·aḥ Ecclesiastes 10:5 יֵ֣שׁ There is yêš רָעָ֔ה an evil rā·‘āh רָאִ֖יתִי I have seen rā·’î·ṯî תַּ֣חַת under ta·ḥaṯ הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ the sun — haš·šā·meš כִּשְׁגָגָ֕ה an error kiš·ḡā·ḡāh שֶׁיֹּצָ֖א that proceeds še·yō·ṣā מִלִּפְנֵ֥י from mil·lip̄·nê הַשַּׁלִּֽיט׃ the ruler : haš·šal·lîṭ Ecclesiastes 10:6 הַסֶּ֔כֶל Folly has·se·ḵel נִתַּ֣ן is appointed nit·tan רַבִּ֑ים to great rab·bîm בַּמְּרוֹמִ֖ים heights , bam·mə·rō·w·mîm וַעֲשִׁירִ֖ים but the rich wa·‘ă·šî·rîm יֵשֵֽׁבוּ׃ sit yê·šê·ḇū בַּשֵּׁ֥פֶל in lowly positions . baš·šê·p̄el Ecclesiastes 10:7 רָאִ֥יתִי I have seen rā·’î·ṯî עֲבָדִ֖ים slaves ‘ă·ḇā·ḏîm עַל־ on ‘al- סוּסִ֑ים horseback , sū·sîm וְשָׂרִ֛ים while princes wə·śā·rîm הֹלְכִ֥ים go hō·lə·ḵîm עַל־ on ‘al- הָאָֽרֶץ׃ foot hā·’ā·reṣ כַּעֲבָדִ֖ים like slaves . ka·‘ă·ḇā·ḏîm Ecclesiastes 10:8 חֹפֵ֥ר He who digs ḥō·p̄êr גּוּמָּ֖ץ a pit gūm·māṣ יִפּ֑וֹל may fall yip·pō·wl בּ֣וֹ into it , bōw וּפֹרֵ֥ץ and he who breaches ū·p̄ō·rêṣ גָּדֵ֖ר a wall gā·ḏêr יִשְּׁכֶ֥נּוּ may be bitten yiš·šə·ḵen·nū נָחָֽשׁ׃ by a snake . nā·ḥāš Ecclesiastes 10:9 מַסִּ֣יעַ The one who quarries mas·sî·a‘ אֲבָנִ֔ים stones ’ă·ḇā·nîm יֵעָצֵ֖ב may be injured yê·‘ā·ṣêḇ בָּהֶ֑ם by them , bā·hem בּוֹקֵ֥עַ and he who splits bō·w·qê·a‘ עֵצִ֖ים logs ‘ê·ṣîm יִסָּ֥כֶן endangers himself yis·sā·ḵen
