Ecclesiastes 9:9 רְאֵ֨ה Enjoy rə·’êh חַיִּ֜ים life ḥay·yîm עִם־ with ‘im- אָהַ֗בְתָּ your beloved ’ā·haḇ·tā אִשָּׁ֣ה wife ’iš·šāh אֲשֶׁר־ ’ă·šer- כָּל־ all kāl- יְמֵי֙ the days yə·mê הֶבְלֶ֔ךָ of the fleeting heḇ·le·ḵā חַיֵּ֣י life ḥay·yê אֲשֶׁ֤ר that ’ă·šer נָֽתַן־ [God] has given nā·ṯan- לְךָ֙ you lə·ḵā תַּ֣חַת under ta·ḥaṯ הַשֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ the sun — haš·še·meš כֹּ֖ל all kōl הֶבְלֶ֑ךָ your fleeting heḇ·le·ḵā יְמֵ֣י days . yə·mê כִּ֣י For kî ה֤וּא this hū חֶלְקְךָ֙ is your portion ḥel·qə·ḵā בַּֽחַיִּ֔ים in life ba·ḥay·yîm וּבַעֲמָ֣לְךָ֔ and in your labor ū·ḇa·‘ă·mā·lə·ḵā אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- אַתָּ֥ה - ’at·tāh עָמֵ֖ל . . . ‘ā·mêl תַּ֥חַת under ta·ḥaṯ הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃ the sun . haš·šā·meš Ecclesiastes 9:10 כֹּ֠ל Whatever kōl אֲשֶׁ֨ר - ’ă·šer תִּמְצָ֧א you find tim·ṣā לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת to do la·‘ă·śō·wṯ יָֽדְךָ֛ with your hands , yā·ḏə·ḵā עֲשֵׂ֑ה do [it] ‘ă·śêh בְּכֹחֲךָ֖ with all your might , bə·ḵō·ḥă·ḵā כִּי֩ for kî בִּשְׁא֕וֹל in Sheol , biš·’ō·wl אֲשֶׁ֥ר where ’ă·šer אַתָּ֖ה you ’at·tāh הֹלֵ֥ךְ are going , hō·lêḵ שָֽׁמָּה׃ס there is šām·māh אֵ֨ין no ’ên מַעֲשֶׂ֤ה work ma·‘ă·śeh וְחֶשְׁבּוֹן֙ or planning wə·ḥeš·bō·wn וְדַ֣עַת or knowledge wə·ḏa·‘aṯ וְחָכְמָ֔ה or wisdom . wə·ḥā·ḵə·māh Ecclesiastes 9:11 וְרָאֹ֣ה I saw wə·rā·’ōh שַׁ֜בְתִּי something else šaḇ·tî תַֽחַת־ under ṯa·ḥaṯ- הַשֶּׁ֗מֶשׁ the sun haš·še·meš כִּ֣י - : kî הַמֵּר֜וֹץ The race ham·mê·rō·wṣ וְלֹ֧א . . . wə·lō לֹא֩ is not lō לַקַּלִּ֨ים to the swift , laq·qal·lîm הַמִּלְחָמָ֗ה nor the battle ham·mil·ḥā·māh לַגִּבּוֹרִ֣ים to the strong ; lag·gib·bō·w·rîm וְ֠גַם - wə·ḡam לֹ֣א neither [is] lō לֶ֙חֶם֙ the bread le·ḥem לַחֲכָמִ֥ים to the wise , la·ḥă·ḵā·mîm וְגַ֨ם nor wə·ḡam לֹ֤א . . . lō עֹ֔שֶׁר the wealth ‘ō·šer לַנְּבֹנִים֙ to the intelligent , lan·nə·ḇō·nîm וְגַ֛ם nor wə·ḡam לֹ֥א . . . lō חֵ֑ן the favor ḥên לַיֹּדְעִ֖ים to the skillful . lay·yō·ḏə·‘îm כִּי־ For kî- עֵ֥ת time ‘êṯ וָפֶ֖גַע and chance wā·p̄e·ḡa‘ יִקְרֶ֥ה happen yiq·reh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- כֻּלָּֽם׃ to all . kul·lām Ecclesiastes 9:12 כִּ֡י For kî גַּם֩ surely gam לֹֽא־ no lō- הָאָדָ֜ם man hā·’ā·ḏām אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יֵדַ֨ע knows yê·ḏa‘ עִתּ֗וֹ his time : ‘it·tōw כַּדָּגִים֙ Like fish kad·dā·ḡîm שֶׁנֶּֽאֱחָזִים֙ caught šen·ne·’ĕ·ḥā·zîm רָעָ֔ה in a cruel rā·‘āh בִּמְצוֹדָ֣ה net bim·ṣō·w·ḏāh וְכַ֨צִּפֳּרִ֔ים or birds wə·ḵaṣ·ṣip·po·rîm הָאֲחֻז֖וֹת trapped hā·’ă·ḥu·zō·wṯ בַּפָּ֑ח in a snare , bap·pāḥ כָּהֵ֗ם . . . kā·hêm בְּנֵ֣י so men bə·nê
