אֶחָ֖ד have the same ’e·ḥāḏ וְר֥וּחַ breath . wə·rū·aḥ הָאָדָ֤ם Man hā·’ā·ḏām אָ֔יִן has no ’ā·yin וּמוֹתַ֨ר advantage ū·mō·w·ṯar מִן־ over min- הַבְּהֵמָה֙ the animals , hab·bə·hê·māh כִּ֥י since kî הַכֹּ֖ל everything hak·kōl הָֽבֶל׃ is futile . hā·ḇel Ecclesiastes 3:20 הַכֹּ֥ל All hak·kōl הוֹלֵ֖ךְ go hō·w·lêḵ אֶל־ to ’el- אֶחָ֑ד one ’e·ḥāḏ מָק֣וֹם place ; mā·qō·wm הַכֹּל֙ all hak·kōl הָיָ֣ה come hā·yāh מִן־ from min- הֶֽעָפָ֔ר dust , he·‘ā·p̄ār וְהַכֹּ֖ל and all wə·hak·kōl שָׁ֥ב return šāḇ אֶל־ to ’el- הֶעָפָֽר׃ dust . he·‘ā·p̄ār Ecclesiastes 3:21 מִ֣י Who mî יוֹדֵ֗עַ knows yō·w·ḏê·a‘ ר֚וּחַ if the spirit rū·aḥ בְּנֵ֣י of man bə·nê הָאָדָ֔ם . . . hā·’ā·ḏām הָעֹלָ֥ה rises hā·‘ō·lāh הִ֖יא . . . hî לְמָ֑עְלָה upward lə·mā·‘ə·lāh וְר֙וּחַ֙ and the spirit wə·rū·aḥ הַבְּהֵמָ֔ה of the animal hab·bə·hê·māh הַיֹּרֶ֥דֶת descends hay·yō·re·ḏeṯ הִ֖יא . . . hî לְמַ֥טָּה . . . lə·maṭ·ṭāh לָאָֽרֶץ׃ into the earth ? lā·’ā·reṣ Ecclesiastes 3:22 וְרָאִ֗יתִי I have seen wə·rā·’î·ṯî כִּ֣י that kî אֵ֥ין there is nothing ’ên טוֹב֙ better ṭō·wḇ הָאָדָם֙ for a man hā·’ā·ḏām מֵאֲשֶׁ֨ר than mê·’ă·šer יִשְׂמַ֤ח to enjoy yiś·maḥ בְּֽמַעֲשָׂ֔יו his work , bə·ma·‘ă·śāw כִּי־ because kî- ה֖וּא that hū חֶלְק֑וֹ is his lot . ḥel·qōw כִּ֣י For kî מִ֤י who mî יְבִיאֶ֙נּוּ֙ can bring him yə·ḇî·’en·nū לִרְא֔וֹת to see lir·’ō·wṯ בְּמֶ֖ה what bə·meh שֶׁיִּהְיֶ֥ה will come še·yih·yeh אַחֲרָֽיו׃ after him ? ’a·ḥă·rāw Ecclesiastes 4:1 וְשַׁ֣בְתִּֽי Again [I looked] , wə·šaḇ·tî אֲנִ֗י and I ’ă·nî וָאֶרְאֶה֙ considered wā·’er·’eh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- כָּל־ all kāl- הָ֣עֲשֻׁקִ֔ים the oppression hā·‘ă·šu·qîm אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer נַעֲשִׂ֖ים taking place na·‘ă·śîm תַּ֣חַת under ta·ḥaṯ הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ the sun . haš·šā·meš וְהִנֵּ֣ה׀ [I] saw wə·hin·nêh דִּמְעַ֣ת the tears dim·‘aṯ הָעֲשֻׁקִ֗ים of the oppressed , hā·‘ă·šu·qîm וְאֵ֤ין and they had no wə·’ên לָהֶם֙ lā·hem מְנַחֵ֔ם comforter ; mə·na·ḥêm כֹּ֔חַ the power [lay] kō·aḥ וּמִיַּ֤ד in the hands ū·mî·yaḏ עֹֽשְׁקֵיהֶם֙ of their oppressors , ‘ō·šə·qê·hem וְאֵ֥ין and there was no wə·’ên לָהֶ֖ם lā·hem מְנַחֵֽם׃ comforter . mə·na·ḥêm Ecclesiastes 4:2 אֲנִ֛י So I ’ă·nî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וְשַׁבֵּ֧חַ admired wə·šab·bê·aḥ הַמֵּתִ֖ים the dead , ham·mê·ṯîm שֶׁכְּבָ֣ר who had already šek·kə·ḇār מֵ֑תוּ died , mê·ṯū מִן־ above min- הַ֣חַיִּ֔ים the living , ha·ḥay·yîm
