וְסָ֣ר and turns wə·sār מֵרָ֑ע from evil , mê·rā‘ וּ֝כְסִ֗יל but a fool ū·ḵə·sîl וּבוֹטֵֽחַ׃ is careless ū·ḇō·w·ṭê·aḥ מִתְעַבֵּ֥ר and reckless . miṯ·‘ab·bêr Proverbs 14:17 קְֽצַר־ A quick-tempered man qə·ṣar- אַ֭פַּיִם . . . ’ap·pa·yim יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה acts ya·‘ă·śeh אִוֶּ֑לֶת foolishly , ’iw·we·leṯ מְ֝זִמּ֗וֹת and a devious mə·zim·mō·wṯ וְאִ֥ישׁ man wə·’îš יִשָּׂנֵֽא׃ is hated . yiś·śā·nê Proverbs 14:18 פְתָאיִ֣ם The simple p̄ə·ṯā·yim נָחֲל֣וּ inherit nā·ḥă·lū אִוֶּ֑לֶת folly , ’iw·we·leṯ וַֽ֝עֲרוּמִ֗ים but the prudent wa·‘ă·rū·mîm יַכְתִּ֥רוּ are crowned yaḵ·ti·rū דָֽעַת׃ with knowledge . ḏā·‘aṯ Proverbs 14:19 רָ֭עִים The evil rā·‘îm שַׁח֣וּ bow ša·ḥū לִפְנֵ֣י before lip̄·nê טוֹבִ֑ים the good , ṭō·w·ḇîm וּ֝רְשָׁעִ֗ים and the wicked ū·rə·šā·‘îm עַֽל־ at ‘al- שַׁעֲרֵ֥י the gates ša·‘ă·rê צַדִּֽיק׃ of the righteous . ṣad·dîq Proverbs 14:20 רָ֑שׁ The poor [man] rāš יִשָּׂ֣נֵא is hated yiś·śā·nê גַּם־ even gam- לְ֭רֵעֵהוּ by his neighbor , lə·rê·‘ê·hū רַבִּֽים׃ but many are those rab·bîm וְאֹהֲבֵ֖י who love wə·’ō·hă·ḇê עָשִׁ֣יר the rich . ‘ā·šîr Proverbs 14:21 בָּז־ He who despises bāz- לְרֵעֵ֥הוּ his neighbor lə·rê·‘ê·hū חוֹטֵ֑א sins , ḥō·w·ṭê אַשְׁרָֽיו׃ but blessed is ’aš·rāw וּמְחוֹנֵ֖ן he who shows kindness ū·mə·ḥō·w·nên עֲנָיִים to the poor . ʿă·nå̄·yīm Proverbs 14:22 הֲ Do not hălō·w- חֹ֣רְשֵׁי those who contrive ḥō·rə·šê רָ֑ע evil rā‘ יִ֭תְעוּ go astray ? yiṯ·‘ū חֹ֣רְשֵׁי But those who plan ḥō·rə·šê טֽוֹב׃ goodness [find] ṭō·wḇ וְחֶ֥סֶד loving devotion wə·ḥe·seḏ וֶ֝אֱמֶ֗ת and faithfulness . we·’ĕ·meṯ Proverbs 14:23 יִהְיֶ֣ה There is yih·yeh מוֹתָ֑ר profit mō·w·ṯār בְּכָל־ in all bə·ḵāl עֶ֭צֶב labor , ‘e·ṣeḇ וּדְבַר־ but mere talk ū·ḏə·ḇa·rś- שְׂ֝פָתַ֗יִם . . . p̄ā·ṯa·yim אַךְ־ leads only ’aḵ- לְמַחְסֽוֹר׃ to poverty . lə·maḥ·sō·wr Proverbs 14:24 עֲטֶ֣רֶת The crown ‘ă·ṭe·reṯ חֲכָמִ֣ים of the wise ḥă·ḵā·mîm עָשְׁרָ֑ם is their wealth , ‘ā·šə·rām אִוֶּ֖לֶת [but] the effort ’iw·we·leṯ כְּסִילִ֣ים of fools kə·sî·lîm אִוֶּֽלֶת׃ [is] folly . ’iw·we·leṯ Proverbs 14:25 אֱמֶ֑ת A truthful ’ĕ·meṯ עֵ֣ד witness ‘êḏ מַצִּ֣יל saves maṣ·ṣîl נְ֭פָשׁוֹת lives , nə·p̄ā·šō·wṯ וְיָפִ֖חַ but one who utters wə·yā·p̄i·aḥ כְּזָבִ֣ים lies kə·zā·ḇîm מִרְמָֽה׃ is deceitful . mir·māh Proverbs 14:26 בְּיִרְאַ֣ת He who fears bə·yir·’aṯ יְ֭הוָה YHWH Yah·weh
