Proverbs 13:12 תּוֹחֶ֣לֶת Hope tō·w·ḥe·leṯ מְ֭מֻשָּׁכָה deferred mə·muš·šā·ḵāh לֵ֑ב makes the heart lêḇ מַחֲלָה־ sick , ma·ḥă·lāh- תַּאֲוָ֥ה but desire ta·’ă·wāh בָאָֽה׃ fulfilled ḇā·’āh וְעֵ֥ץ is a tree wə·‘êṣ חַ֝יִּ֗ים of life . ḥay·yîm Proverbs 13:13 בָּ֣ז He who despises bāz לְ֭דָבָר instruction lə·ḏā·ḇār יֵחָ֣בֶל will pay the penalty yê·ḥā·ḇel ל֑וֹ , lōw וִירֵ֥א but the one who respects wî·rê מִ֝צְוָ֗ה a command miṣ·wāh ה֣וּא . . . hū יְשֻׁלָּֽם׃ will be rewarded . yə·šul·lām Proverbs 13:14 תּוֹרַ֣ת The teaching tō·w·raṯ חָ֭כָם of the wise ḥā·ḵām מְק֣וֹר is a fountain mə·qō·wr חַיִּ֑ים of life , ḥay·yîm לָ֝ס֗וּר turning one lā·sūr מִמֹּ֥קְשֵׁי from the snares mim·mō·qə·šê מָֽוֶת׃ of death . mā·weṯ Proverbs 13:15 ט֭וֹב Good ṭō·wḇ שֵֽׂכֶל־ understanding śê·ḵel- יִתֶּן־ wins yit·ten- חֵ֑ן favor , ḥên וְדֶ֖רֶךְ but the way wə·ḏe·reḵ בֹּגְדִ֣ים of the faithless bō·ḡə·ḏîm אֵיתָֽן׃ is difficult . ’ê·ṯān Proverbs 13:16 כָּל־ Every kāl- עָ֭רוּם prudent [man] ‘ā·rūm יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה acts ya·‘ă·śeh בְדָ֑עַת with knowledge , ḇə·ḏā·‘aṯ וּ֝כְסִ֗יל but a fool ū·ḵə·sîl יִפְרֹ֥שׂ displays yip̄·rōś אִוֶּֽלֶת׃ [his] folly . ’iw·we·leṯ Proverbs 13:17 רָ֭שָׁע A wicked rā·šā‘ מַלְאָ֣ךְ messenger mal·’āḵ יִפֹּ֣ל falls yip·pōl בְּרָ֑ע into trouble , bə·rā‘ אֱמוּנִ֣ים but a faithful ’ĕ·mū·nîm וְצִ֖יר envoy wə·ṣîr מַרְפֵּֽא׃ brings healing . mar·pê Proverbs 13:18 רֵ֣ישׁ Poverty rêš וְ֭קָלוֹן and shame wə·qā·lō·wn פּוֹרֵ֣עַ come to him who ignores pō·w·rê·a‘ מוּסָ֑ר discipline , mū·sār וְשׁוֹמֵ֖ר but whoever heeds wə·šō·w·mêr תּוֹכַ֣חַת correction tō·w·ḵa·ḥaṯ יְכֻבָּֽד׃ is honored . yə·ḵub·bāḏ Proverbs 13:19 תַּאֲוָ֣ה Desire ta·’ă·wāh נִ֭הְיָה fulfilled nih·yāh תֶּעֱרַ֣ב is sweet ṯe·‘ĕ·raḇ לְנָ֑פֶשׁ to the soul , lə·nā·p̄eš ס֣וּר but turning sūr מֵרָֽע׃ from evil mê·rā‘ וְתוֹעֲבַ֥ת is detestable wə·ṯō·w·‘ă·ḇaṯ כְּ֝סִילִ֗ים to fools . kə·sî·lîm Proverbs 13:20 הָלוֹךְ He who walks hå̄·lōḵ אֶת־ with ’eṯ- חֲכָמִ֣ים the wise ḥă·ḵā·mîm וַחֲכָם will become wise , wa·ḥă·ḵå̄m וְרֹעֶ֖ה but the companion wə·rō·‘eh כְסִילִ֣ים of fools ḵə·sî·lîm יֵרֽוֹעַ׃ will be destroyed . yê·rō·w·a‘ Proverbs 13:21 רָעָ֑ה Disaster rā·‘āh וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- תְּרַדֵּ֣ף pursues tə·rad·dêp̄ חַ֭טָּאִים sinners , ḥaṭ·ṭā·’îm טֽוֹב׃ but prosperity ṭō·wḇ יְשַׁלֶּם־ is the reward yə·šal·lem- צַ֝דִּיקִ֗ים of the righteous . ṣad·dî·qîm
