Psalm 78:68 וַ֭יִּבְחַר But He chose way·yiḇ·ḥar אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שֵׁ֣בֶט the tribe šê·ḇeṭ יְהוּדָ֑ה of Judah , yə·hū·ḏāh אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- הַ֥ר Mount har צִ֝יּ֗וֹן Zion , ṣî·yō·wn אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ’ă·šer אָהֵֽב׃ He loved . ’ā·hêḇ Psalm 78:69 וַיִּ֣בֶן He built way·yi·ḇen מִקְדָּשׁ֑וֹ His sanctuary miq·dā·šōw כְּמוֹ־ like kə·mōw- רָ֭מִים the heights , rā·mîm כְּ֝אֶ֗רֶץ like the earth kə·’e·reṣ יְסָדָ֥הּ He has established yə·sā·ḏāh לְעוֹלָֽם׃ forever . lə·‘ō·w·lām Psalm 78:70 וַ֭יִּבְחַר He chose way·yiḇ·ḥar בְּדָוִ֣ד David bə·ḏā·wiḏ עַבְדּ֑וֹ His servant ‘aḇ·dōw וַ֝יִּקָּחֵ֗הוּ and took him way·yiq·qā·ḥê·hū מִֽמִּכְלְאֹ֥ת from the sheepfolds mim·miḵ·lə·’ōṯ צֹֽאן׃ . . . ; ṣōn Psalm 78:71 מֵאַחַ֥ר from tending mê·’a·ḥar עָל֗וֹת the ewes ‘ā·lō·wṯ הֱ֫בִיא֥וֹ He brought him hĕ·ḇî·’ōw לִ֭רְעוֹת to be shepherd lir·‘ō·wṯ עַמּ֑וֹ of His people ‘am·mōw בְּיַעֲקֹ֣ב Jacob , bə·ya·‘ă·qōḇ וּ֝בְיִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל of Israel ū·ḇə·yiś·rā·’êl נַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃ His inheritance . na·ḥă·lā·ṯōw Psalm 78:72 וַ֭יִּרְעֵם So [David] shepherded them way·yir·‘êm כְּתֹ֣ם with integrity kə·ṯōm לְבָב֑וֹ of heart lə·ḇā·ḇōw יַנְחֵֽם׃ and guided them yan·ḥêm וּבִתְבוּנ֖וֹת with skillful ū·ḇiṯ·ḇū·nō·wṯ כַּפָּ֣יו hands . kap·pāw Psalm 79:1 מִזְמ֗וֹר A Psalm miz·mō·wr לְאָ֫סָ֥ף of Asaph . lə·’ā·sāp̄ גוֹיִ֨ם׀ The nations , ḡō·w·yim אֱ O God , ’ĕlō·hîm בָּ֤אוּ have invaded bā·’ū בְּֽנַחֲלָתֶ֗ךָ Your inheritance ; bə·na·ḥă·lā·ṯe·ḵā טִ֭מְּאוּ they have defiled ṭim·mə·’ū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- קָדְשֶׁ֑ךָ Your holy qāḏ·še·ḵā הֵיכַ֣ל temple hê·ḵal שָׂ֖מוּ [and] reduced śā·mū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְרוּשָׁלִַ֣ם Jerusalem yə·rū·šā·lim לְעִיִּֽים׃ to rubble . lə·‘î·yîm Psalm 79:2 נָֽתְנ֡וּ They have given nā·ṯə·nū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- נִבְלַ֬ת the corpses niḇ·laṯ עֲבָדֶ֗יךָ of Your servants ‘ă·ḇā·ḏe·ḵā מַ֭אֲכָל as food ma·’ă·ḵāl לְע֣וֹף to the birds lə·‘ō·wp̄ הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם of the air , haš·šā·mā·yim בְּשַׂ֥ר the flesh bə·śar חֲ֝סִידֶ֗יךָ of Your saints ḥă·sî·ḏe·ḵā לְחַיְתוֹ־ to the beasts lə·ḥay·ṯōw- אָֽרֶץ׃ of the earth . ’ā·reṣ Psalm 79:3 שָׁפְכ֬וּ They have poured out šā·p̄ə·ḵū דָמָ֨ם׀ their blood ḏā·mām כַּמַּ֗יִם like water kam·ma·yim סְֽבִ֘יב֤וֹת all around sə·ḇî·ḇō·wṯ יְֽרוּשָׁלִָ֗ם Jerusalem , yə·rū·šā·lim וְאֵ֣ין and [there is] no one wə·’ên קוֹבֵֽר׃ to bury [the dead] . qō·w·ḇêr Psalm 79:4 הָיִ֣ינוּ We have become hā·yî·nū חֶ֭רְפָּה a reproach ḥer·pāh לִשְׁכֵנֵ֑ינוּ to our neighbors , liš·ḵê·nê·nū לַ֥עַג a scorn la·‘aḡ וָ֝קֶ֗לֶס and derision wā·qe·les לִסְבִיבוֹתֵֽינוּ׃ to those around us . lis·ḇî·ḇō·w·ṯê·nū
