ה֣וּא . . . hū וְאֶחָ֔יו with his brothers wə·’e·ḥāw וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl הָעֹלִ֥ים who had gone hā·‘ō·lîm אִתּ֖וֹ with him ’it·tōw אָבִֽיו׃ to bury his father . ’ā·ḇîw Genesis 50:15 יוֹסֵף֙ When Joseph’s yō·w·sêp̄ אֲחֵֽי־ brothers ’ă·ḥê- וַיִּרְא֤וּ saw way·yir·’ū כִּי־ that kî- אֲבִיהֶ֔ם their father ’ă·ḇî·hem מֵ֣ת was dead , mêṯ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ they said , way·yō·mə·rū ל֥וּ “ What if lū יוֹסֵ֑ף Joseph yō·w·sêp̄ יִשְׂטְמֵ֖נוּ bears a grudge ? yiś·ṭə·mê·nū וְהָשֵׁ֤ב Then he will surely repay wə·hā·šêḇ יָשִׁיב֙ . . . yā·šîḇ לָ֔נוּ us lā·nū אֵ֚ת - ’êṯ כָּל־ for all kāl- הָ֣רָעָ֔ה the evil hā·rā·‘āh אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ’ă·šer גָּמַ֖לְנוּ we did gā·mal·nū אֹתֽוֹ׃ to him . ” ’ō·ṯōw Genesis 50:16 וַיְצַוּ֕וּ So they sent word way·ṣaw·wū אֶל־ to ’el- יוֹסֵ֖ף Joseph , yō·w·sêp̄ לֵאמֹ֑ר saying , lê·mōr לִפְנֵ֥י “ Before lip̄·nê מוֹת֖וֹ he died , mō·w·ṯōw לֵאמֹֽר׃ . . . lê·mōr אָבִ֣יךָ your father ’ā·ḇî·ḵā צִוָּ֔ה commanded , ṣiw·wāh Genesis 50:17 כֹּֽה־ ‘ This is what kōh- תֹאמְר֣וּ you are to say ṯō·mə·rū לְיוֹסֵ֗ף to Joseph : lə·yō·w·sêp̄ אָ֣נָּ֡א I beg you , ’ān·nā נָ֠א please nā שָׂ֣א forgive śā פֶּ֣שַׁע the transgression pe·ša‘ וְחַטָּאתָם֙ and sin wə·ḥaṭ·ṭā·ṯām אַחֶ֤יךָ of your brothers , ’a·ḥe·ḵā כִּי־ for kî- גְמָל֔וּךָ they did ḡə·mā·lū·ḵā רָעָ֣ה you wrong . ’ rā·‘āh וְעַתָּה֙ So now, [Joseph] , wə·‘at·tāh נָ֔א please nā שָׂ֣א forgive śā לְפֶ֥שַׁע the transgression lə·p̄e·ša‘ עַבְדֵ֖י of the servants ‘aḇ·ḏê אֱלֹהֵ֣י of the God ’ĕ·lō·hê אָבִ֑יךָ of your father . ” ’ā·ḇî·ḵā בְּדַבְּרָ֥ם When their message bə·ḏab·bə·rām אֵלָֽיו׃ came to him , ’ê·lāw יוֹסֵ֖ף Joseph yō·w·sêp̄ וַיֵּ֥בְךְּ wept . way·yê·ḇək Genesis 50:18 אֶחָ֔יו His brothers ’e·ḥāw גַּם־ also gam- וַיֵּלְכוּ֙ came to him , way·yê·lə·ḵū וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ bowed down way·yip·pə·lū לְפָנָ֑יו before him , lə·p̄ā·nāw וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ and said , way·yō·mə·rū הִנֶּ֥נּֽוּ . . . hin·nen·nū לְךָ֖ lə·ḵā לַעֲבָדִֽים׃ “ We are your slaves ! ” la·‘ă·ḇā·ḏîm Genesis 50:19 יוֹסֵ֖ף But Joseph yō·w·sêp̄ וַיֹּ֧אמֶר replied way·yō·mer אֲלֵהֶ֛ם . . . , ’ă·lê·hem אַל־ “ Do not ’al- תִּירָ֑אוּ be afraid . tî·rā·’ū כִּ֛י . . . kî אָֽנִי׃ Am I ’ā·nî הֲתַ֥חַת in the place of hă·ṯa·ḥaṯ אֱלֹהִ֖ים God ? ’ĕ·lō·hîm Genesis 50:20 וְאַתֶּ֕ם As for you , wə·’at·tem חֲשַׁבְתֶּ֥ם what you intended ḥă·šaḇ·tem עָלַ֖י against me ‘ā·lay רָעָ֑ה for evil , rā·‘āh אֱלֹהִים֙ God ’ĕ·lō·hîm חֲשָׁבָ֣הּ intended ḥă·šā·ḇāh לְטֹבָ֔ה for good , lə·ṭō·ḇāh
