לְמַ֗עַן in order to lə·ma·‘an עֲשֹׂ֛ה accomplish ‘ă·śōh כַּיּ֥וֹם a day kay·yō·wm הַזֶּ֖ה like this — haz·zeh לְהַחֲיֹ֥ת to preserve the lives lə·ha·ḥă·yōṯ רָֽב׃ of many rāḇ עַם־ people . ‘am- Genesis 50:21 וְעַתָּה֙ Therefore wə·‘at·tāh אַל־ do not ’al- תִּירָ֔אוּ be afraid . tî·rā·’ū אָנֹכִ֛י I ’ā·nō·ḵî אֲכַלְכֵּ֥ל will provide for ’ă·ḵal·kêl אֶתְכֶ֖ם you ’eṯ·ḵem וְאֶֽת־ - wə·’eṯ- טַפְּכֶ֑ם and your little ones . ” ṭap·pə·ḵem וַיְנַחֵ֣ם So [Joseph] reassured way·na·ḥêm אוֹתָ֔ם [his brothers] ’ō·w·ṯām וַיְדַבֵּ֖ר and spoke way·ḏab·bêr עַל־ kindly to them ‘al- לִבָּֽם׃ . . . . lib·bām Genesis 50:22 יוֹסֵף֙ Now Joseph yō·w·sêp̄ אָבִ֑יו and his father’s ’ā·ḇîw וּבֵ֣ית household ū·ḇêṯ וַיֵּ֤שֶׁב remained way·yê·šeḇ בְּמִצְרַ֔יִם in Egypt , bə·miṣ·ra·yim ה֖וּא . . . hū יוֹסֵ֔ף and Joseph yō·w·sêp̄ וַיְחִ֣י lived way·ḥî שָׁנִֽים׃ to the age šā·nîm מֵאָ֥ה of 110 mê·’āh וָעֶ֖שֶׂר . . . . wā·‘e·śer Genesis 50:23 יוֹסֵף֙ He yō·w·sêp̄ וַיַּ֤רְא saw way·yar לְאֶפְרַ֔יִם Ephraim’s lə·’ep̄·ra·yim בְּנֵ֖י sons bə·nê שִׁלֵּשִׁ֑ים to the third generation , šil·lê·šîm גַּ֗ם and indeed gam בְּנֵ֤י the sons bə·nê מָכִיר֙ of Machir mā·ḵîr בֶּן־ son ben- מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה of Manasseh mə·naš·šeh יֻלְּד֖וּ were brought up yul·lə·ḏū עַל־ on ‘al- יוֹסֵֽף׃ Joseph’s yō·w·sêp̄ בִּרְכֵּ֥י knees . bir·kê Genesis 50:24 יוֹסֵף֙ Then Joseph yō·w·sêp̄ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- אֶחָ֔יו his brothers , ’e·ḥāw אָנֹכִ֖י “ I ’ā·nō·ḵî מֵ֑ת am about to die , mêṯ וֵֽאלֹהִ֞ים but God wê·lō·hîm פָּקֹ֧ד will surely pā·qōḏ יִפְקֹ֣ד visit yip̄·qōḏ אֶתְכֶ֗ם you ’eṯ·ḵem וְהֶעֱלָ֤ה and bring you up wə·he·‘ĕ·lāh אֶתְכֶם֙ - ’eṯ·ḵem מִן־ from min- הַזֹּ֔את this haz·zōṯ הָאָ֣רֶץ land hā·’ā·reṣ אֶל־ to ’el- הָאָ֕רֶץ the land hā·’ā·reṣ אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer נִשְׁבַּ֛ע He promised on oath niš·ba‘ לְאַבְרָהָ֥ם to Abraham , lə·’aḇ·rā·hām לְיִצְחָ֖ק Isaac , lə·yiṣ·ḥāq וּֽלְיַעֲקֹֽב׃ and Jacob . ” ū·lə·ya·‘ă·qōḇ Genesis 50:25 יוֹסֵ֔ף And Joseph yō·w·sêp̄ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- בְּנֵ֥י made the sons bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיַּשְׁבַּ֣ע take an oath way·yaš·ba‘ לֵאמֹ֑ר and said , lê·mōr אֱלֹהִים֙ “ God ’ĕ·lō·hîm פָּקֹ֨ד will surely attend to pā·qōḏ יִפְקֹ֤ד . . . yip̄·qōḏ אֶתְכֶ֔ם you , ’eṯ·ḵem וְהַעֲלִתֶ֥ם and then you must carry wə·ha·‘ă·li·ṯem עַצְמֹתַ֖י my bones ‘aṣ·mō·ṯay אֶת־ ’eṯ- מִזֶּֽה׃ up from this place . ” miz·zeh Genesis 50:26 יוֹסֵ֔ף So Joseph yō·w·sêp̄
