כְמוֹ־ like ḵə·mōw- מַ֭יִם water ma·yim יִתְהַלְּכוּ־ that runs off yiṯ·hal·lə·ḵū- לָ֑מוֹ ; lā·mōw יִדְרֹ֥ךְ when they draw the bow , yiḏ·rōḵ חִצּוֹ may their arrows ḥiṣ·ṣō כְּמ֣וֹ kə·mōw יִתְמֹלָֽלוּ׃ be blunted . yiṯ·mō·lā·lū Psalm 58:8 כְּמ֣וֹ Like kə·mōw שַׁ֭בְּלוּל a slug bə·lūl יַהֲלֹ֑ךְ that dissolves ya·hă·lōḵ תֶּ֣מֶס in its slime , te·mes אֵ֝֗שֶׁת like a woman’s ’ê·šeṯ נֵ֥פֶל stillborn child , nê·p̄el בַּל־ may they never bal- חָ֥זוּ see ḥā·zū שָֽׁמֶשׁ׃ the sun . šā·meš Psalm 58:9 בְּטֶ֤רֶם Before bə·ṭe·rem סִּֽירֹתֵיכֶ֣ם your pots sî·rō·ṯê·ḵem יָבִ֣ינוּ can feel yā·ḇî·nū אָטָ֑ד [the burning] thorns — ’ā·ṭāḏ חַ֥י whether green ḥay כְּמוֹ־ or kə·mōw- כְּמוֹ־ . . . kə·mōw- חָ֝ר֗וֹן dry — ḥā·rō·wn יִשְׂעָרֶֽנּוּ׃ He will sweep them away . yiś·‘ā·ren·nū Psalm 58:10 צַ֭דִּיק The righteous ṣad·dîq יִשְׂמַ֣ח will rejoice yiś·maḥ כִּי־ when kî- חָזָ֣ה they see ḥā·zāh נָקָ֑ם they are avenged ; nā·qām יִ֝רְחַ֗ץ they will wash yir·ḥaṣ פְּעָמָ֥יו their feet pə·‘ā·māw בְּדַ֣ם in the blood bə·ḏam הָרָשָֽׁע׃ of the wicked . hā·rā·šā‘ Psalm 58:11 אָ֭דָם Then men ’ā·ḏām וְיֹאמַ֣ר will say , wə·yō·mar אַךְ־ “ There is surely ’aḵ- פְּרִ֣י a reward pə·rî לַצַּדִּ֑יק for the righteous ! laṣ·ṣad·dîq יֵשׁ־ There is yêš- אַ֥ךְ surely ’aḵ אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים a God ’ĕ·lō·hîm שֹׁפְטִ֥ים who judges šō·p̄ə·ṭîm בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ the earth ! ” bā·’ā·reṣ Psalm 59:1 לַמְנַצֵּ֣חַ For the choirmaster . lam·naṣ·ṣê·aḥ אַל־ To the tune of ’al- תַּשְׁחֵת֮ “ Do Not Destroy . ” taš·ḥêṯ מִ֫כְתָּ֥ם A Miktam miḵ·tām לְדָוִ֪ד of David , lə·ḏā·wiḏ שָׁא֑וּל when Saul šā·’ūl בִּשְׁלֹ֥חַ sent biš·lō·aḥ וַֽיִּשְׁמְר֥וּ men to watch way·yiš·mə·rū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַ֝בַּ֗יִת [David’s] house hab·ba·yiṯ לַהֲמִיתֽוֹ׃ in order to kill him . la·hă·mî·ṯōw הַצִּילֵ֖נִי Deliver me haṣ·ṣî·lê·nî מֵאֹיְבַ֥י׀ from my enemies , mê·’ō·yə·ḇay אֱלֹהָ֑י O my God ; ’ĕ·lō·hāy תְּשַׂגְּבֵֽנִי׃ protect me tə·śag·gə·ḇê·nî מִּמִתְקוֹמְמַ֥י from those who rise against me . mi·miṯ·qō·wm·may Psalm 59:2 הַ֭צִּילֵנִי Deliver me haṣ·ṣî·lê·nî מִפֹּ֣עֲלֵי from workers mip·pō·‘ă·lê אָ֑וֶן of iniquity , ’ā·wen וּֽמֵאַנְשֵׁ֥י . . . ū·mê·’an·šê הוֹשִׁיעֵֽנִי׃ and save me hō·wō·šî·‘ê·nî דָ֝מִ֗ים from men of bloodshed . ḏā·mîm Psalm 59:3 כִּ֤י vvv kî הִנֵּ֪ה See hin·nêh אָֽרְב֡וּ how they lie in wait ’ā·rə·ḇū לְנַפְשִׁ֗י for me . lə·nap̄·šî עַזִ֑ים Fierce men ‘a·zîm יָג֣וּרוּ conspire yā·ḡū·rū עָלַ֣י against me ‘ā·lay לֹא־ for no lō- פִשְׁעִ֖י transgression p̄iš·‘î וְלֹא־ [or] wə·lō- חַטָּאתִ֣י sin [of my own] , ḥaṭ·ṭā·ṯî יְהוָֽה׃ O YHWH .
