הִנֵּ֛ה . . . hin·nêh וַיַּגֵּ֣ד was told , way·yag·gêḏ בִּנְךָ֥ “ Your son bin·ḵā יוֹסֵ֖ף Joseph yō·w·sêp̄ בָּ֣א has come bā אֵלֶ֑יךָ to you , ” ’ê·le·ḵā יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיִּתְחַזֵּק֙ rallied his strength way·yiṯ·ḥaz·zêq וַיֵּ֖שֶׁב and sat up way·yê·šeḇ עַל־ in ‘al- הַמִּטָּֽה׃ bed . ham·miṭ·ṭāh Genesis 48:3 יַעֲקֹב֙ Jacob ya·‘ă·qōḇ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- יוֹסֵ֔ף Joseph , yō·w·sêp̄ אֵ֥ל “ God ’êl שַׁדַּ֛י Almighty šad·day נִרְאָֽה־ appeared nir·’āh- אֵלַ֥י to me ’ê·lay בְּל֖וּז at Luz bə·lūz בְּאֶ֣רֶץ in the land bə·’e·reṣ כְּנָ֑עַן of Canaan , kə·nā·‘an וַיְבָ֖רֶךְ and there He blessed way·ḇā·reḵ אֹתִֽי׃ me ’ō·ṯî Genesis 48:4 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר and told way·yō·mer אֵלַ֗י me , ’ê·lay הִנְנִ֤י ‘ Behold , hin·nî מַפְרְךָ֙ I will make you fruitful map̄·rə·ḵā וְהִרְבִּיתִ֔ךָ and multiply you ; wə·hir·bî·ṯi·ḵā וּנְתַתִּ֖יךָ I will make you ū·nə·ṯat·tî·ḵā לִקְהַ֣ל a multitude liq·hal עַמִּ֑ים of peoples , ‘am·mîm וְנָ֨תַתִּ֜י and will give wə·nā·ṯat·tî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַזֹּ֛את this haz·zōṯ הָאָ֧רֶץ land hā·’ā·reṣ לְזַרְעֲךָ֥ to your descendants lə·zar·‘ă·ḵā אַחֲרֶ֖יךָ after you ’a·ḥă·re·ḵā עוֹלָֽם׃ as an everlasting ‘ō·w·lām אֲחֻזַּ֥ת possession . ’ ’ă·ḥuz·zaṯ Genesis 48:5 וְעַתָּ֡ה And now wə·‘at·tāh שְׁנֵֽי־ your two šə·nê- בָנֶיךָ֩ sons ḇā·ne·ḵā הַנּוֹלָדִ֨ים born han·nō·w·lā·ḏîm לְךָ֜ to you lə·ḵā בְּאֶ֣רֶץ vvv bə·’e·reṣ מִצְרַ֗יִם in Egypt miṣ·ra·yim עַד־ before ‘aḏ- בֹּאִ֥י I came bō·’î אֵלֶ֛יךָ to you ’ê·le·ḵā מִצְרַ֖יְמָה [here] miṣ·ray·māh הֵ֑ם [shall be reckoned as] hêm לִי־ mine ; lî- אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ Ephraim ’ep̄·ra·yim וּמְנַשֶּׁ֔ה and Manasseh ū·mə·naš·šeh יִֽהְיוּ־ shall be yih·yū- לִֽי׃ mine , lî כִּרְאוּבֵ֥ן just as Reuben kir·’ū·ḇên וְשִׁמְע֖וֹן and Simeon [are mine] . wə·šim·‘ō·wn Genesis 48:6 וּמוֹלַדְתְּךָ֛ Any children ū·mō·w·laḏ·tə·ḵā אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- הוֹלַ֥דְתָּ born hō·w·laḏ·tā לְךָ֣ to you lə·ḵā אַחֲרֵיהֶ֖ם after them ’a·ḥă·rê·hem יִהְי֑וּ shall be yours , yih·yū יִקָּרְא֖וּ and they shall be called yiq·qā·rə·’ū עַ֣ל by ‘al שֵׁ֧ם the names šêm אֲחֵיהֶ֛ם of their brothers ’ă·ḥê·hem בְּנַחֲלָתָֽם׃ in the territory they inherit . bə·na·ḥă·lā·ṯām Genesis 48:7 וַאֲנִ֣י׀ Now as for me , wa·’ă·nî בְּבֹאִ֣י when I was returning bə·ḇō·’î מִפַּדָּ֗ן from Paddan , mip·pad·dān עָלַ֨י to my sorrow ‘ā·lay רָחֵ֜ל Rachel rā·ḥêl מֵ֩תָה֩ died mê·ṯāh בַּדֶּ֔רֶךְ along the way bad·de·reḵ בְּאֶ֤רֶץ in the land bə·’e·reṣ כְּנַ֙עַן֙ of Canaan , kə·na·‘an בְּע֥וֹד . . . bə·‘ō·wḏ כִּבְרַת־ some distance kiḇ·raṯ- אֶ֖רֶץ . . . ’e·reṣ לָבֹ֣א . . . lā·ḇō אֶפְרָ֑תָה from Ephrath . ’ep̄·rā·ṯāh וָאֶקְבְּרֶ֤הָ So I buried her wā·’eq·bə·re·hā
