וַיִּבְרַ֥ח . . . , way·yiḇ·raḥ וְלֹ֣א he does not wə·lō יַעֲמֽוֹד׃ endure . ya·‘ă·mō·wḏ Job 14:3 פָּקַ֣חְתָּ Do You open pā·qaḥ·tā עֵינֶ֑ךָ Your eyes ‘ê·ne·ḵā וְאֹ֘תִ֤י - wə·’ō·ṯî זֶ֭ה to one like this ? zeh תָבִ֖יא Will You bring him ṯā·ḇî בְמִשְׁפָּ֣ט into judgment ḇə·miš·pāṭ אַף־ ’ap̄- עִמָּֽךְ׃ before ‘im·māḵ עַל־ You ? ‘al- Job 14:4 מִֽי־ Who mî- יִתֵּ֣ן can bring out yit·tên טָ֭הוֹר clean ṭā·hō·wr מִטָּמֵ֗א from unclean ? miṭ·ṭā·mê לֹ֣א No lō אֶחָֽד׃ one ! ’e·ḥāḏ Job 14:5 אִ֥ם Since ’im יָמָ֗יו his days yā·māw חֲרוּצִ֨ים׀ [are] determined ḥă·rū·ṣîm מִֽסְפַּר־ and the number mis·par- חֳדָשָׁ֥יו of his months ḥo·ḏā·šāw אִתָּ֑ךְ [is] with You , ’it·tāḵ עָ֝שִׂ֗יתָ and since You have set ‘ā·śî·ṯā חֻקּוֹ limits ḥuq·qō וְלֹ֣א that he cannot wə·lō יַעֲבֽוֹר׃ exceed , ya·‘ă·ḇō·wr Job 14:6 שְׁעֵ֣ה look away šə·‘êh מֵעָלָ֣יו from him mê·‘ā·lāw וְיֶחְדָּ֑ל and let him rest , wə·yeḥ·dāl עַד־ so ‘aḏ- יִ֝רְצֶ֗ה he can enjoy yir·ṣeh יוֹמֽוֹ׃ his day yō·w·mōw כְּשָׂכִ֥יר as a hired hand . kə·śā·ḵîr Job 14:7 כִּ֤י For kî יֵ֥שׁ there is yêš תִּ֫קְוָ֥ה hope tiq·wāh לָעֵ֗ץ for a tree : lā·‘êṣ אִֽם־ If ’im- יִ֭כָּרֵת it is cut down , yik·kā·rêṯ יַחֲלִ֑יף it will sprout ya·ḥă·lîp̄ וְע֣וֹד again , wə·‘ō·wḏ וְ֝יֹֽנַקְתּ֗וֹ and its tender shoots wə·yō·naq·tōw לֹ֣א will not lō תֶחְדָּֽל׃ fail . ṯeḥ·dāl Job 14:8 אִם־ If ’im- שָׁרְשׁ֑וֹ its roots šā·rə·šōw יַזְקִ֣ין grow old yaz·qîn בָּאָ֣רֶץ in the ground bā·’ā·reṣ גִּזְעֽוֹ׃ and its stump giz·‘ōw יָמ֥וּת dies yā·mūṯ וּ֝בֶעָפָ֗ר in the soil , ū·ḇe·‘ā·p̄ār Job 14:9 מֵרֵ֣יחַ at the scent mê·rê·aḥ מַ֣יִם of water ma·yim יַפְרִ֑חַ it will bud yap̄·ri·aḥ וְעָשָׂ֖ה and put forth wə·‘ā·śāh קָצִ֣יר twigs qā·ṣîr כְּמוֹ־ like kə·mōw- נָֽטַע׃ a sapling . nā·ṭa‘ Job 14:10 וְגֶ֣בֶר But a man wə·ḡe·ḇer יָ֭מוּת dies yā·mūṯ וַֽיֶּחֱלָ֑שׁ and is laid low ; way·ye·ḥĕ·lāš אָדָ֣ם he ’ā·ḏām וַיִּגְוַ֖ע breathes his last , way·yiḡ·wa‘ וְאַיּֽוֹ׃ and where [is] he ? wə·’ay·yōw Job 14:11 מַ֭יִם As water ma·yim אָֽזְלוּ־ disappears ’ā·zə·lū- מִנִּי־ from min·nî- יָ֑ם the sea yām וְ֝נָהָ֗ר and a river wə·nā·hār יֶחֱרַ֥ב becomes parched ye·ḥĕ·raḇ וְיָבֵֽשׁ׃ and dry , wə·yā·ḇêš
