Job 5:4 בָנָ֣יו His sons ḇā·nāw יִרְחֲק֣וּ are far yir·ḥă·qū מִיֶּ֑שַׁע from safety , mî·ye·ša‘ וְיִֽדַּכְּא֥וּ crushed wə·yid·dak·kə·’ū בַ֝שַּׁ֗עַר in court ḇaš·ša·‘ar וְאֵ֣ין without wə·’ên מַצִּֽיל׃ a defender . maṣ·ṣîl Job 5:5 רָ֘עֵ֤ב The hungry rā·‘êḇ אֲשֶׁ֤ר - ’ă·šer יֹאכֵ֗ל consume yō·ḵêl וְאֶֽל־ . . . wə·’el- קְצִיר֨וֹ׀ his harvest , qə·ṣî·rōw יִקָּחֵ֑הוּ taking it even yiq·qā·ḥê·hū מִצִּנִּ֥ים from the thorns , miṣ·ṣin·nîm צַמִּ֣ים and the thirsty ṣam·mîm וְשָׁאַ֖ף pant after wə·šā·’ap̄ חֵילָֽם׃ his wealth . ḥê·lām Job 5:6 כִּ֤י׀ For kî אָ֑וֶן distress ’ā·wen לֹא־ does not lō- יֵצֵ֣א spring yê·ṣê מֵעָפָ֣ר from the dust , mê·‘ā·p̄ār עָמָֽל׃ and trouble ‘ā·māl לֹא־ does not lō- יִצְמַ֥ח sprout yiṣ·maḥ וּ֝מֵאֲדָמָ֗ה from the ground . ū·mê·’ă·ḏā·māh Job 5:7 כִּֽי־ Yet kî- אָ֭דָם man ’ā·ḏām יוּלָּ֑ד is born yūl·lāḏ לְעָמָ֣ל to trouble lə·‘ā·māl וּבְנֵי־ as surely as sparks ū·ḇə·nê- רֶ֝֗שֶׁף . . . re·šep̄ עֽוּף׃ fly ‘ūp̄ יַגְבִּ֥יהוּ upward . yaḡ·bî·hū Job 5:8 אוּלָ֗ם However , ’ū·lām אֲ֭נִי if I were you , ’ă·nî אֶדְרֹ֣שׁ I would appeal ’eḏ·rōš אֶל־ to ’el- אֵ֑ל God ’êl אָשִׂ֥ים and lay ’ā·śîm דִּבְרָתִֽי׃ my cause diḇ·rā·ṯî וְאֶל־ before wə·’el- אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים Him — ’ĕ·lō·hîm Job 5:9 עֹשֶׂ֣ה [the One] who does ‘ō·śeh גְ֭דֹלוֹת great ḡə·ḏō·lō·wṯ וְאֵ֣ין and wə·’ên חֵ֑קֶר unsearchable things , ḥê·qer נִ֝פְלָא֗וֹת wonders nip̄·lā·’ō·wṯ עַד־ . . . ‘aḏ- אֵ֥ין without ’ên מִסְפָּֽר׃ number . mis·pār Job 5:10 הַנֹּתֵ֣ן He gives han·nō·ṯên מָ֭טָר rain mā·ṭār עַל־ to ‘al- פְּנֵי־ . . . pə·nê- אָ֑רֶץ the earth ’ā·reṣ וְשֹׁ֥לֵֽחַ and sends wə·šō·lê·aḥ מַ֝יִם water ma·yim עַל־ upon ‘al- פְּנֵ֥י . . . pə·nê חוּצֽוֹת׃ the fields . ḥū·ṣō·wṯ Job 5:11 לָשׂ֣וּם He sets lā·śūm שְׁפָלִ֣ים the lowly šə·p̄ā·lîm לְמָר֑וֹם on high , lə·mā·rō·wm וְ֝קֹדְרִ֗ים so that mourners wə·qō·ḏə·rîm שָׂ֣גְבוּ are lifted śā·ḡə·ḇū יֶֽשַׁע׃ to safety . ye·ša‘ Job 5:12 מֵ֭פֵר He thwarts mê·p̄êr מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת the schemes maḥ·šə·ḇō·wṯ עֲרוּמִ֑ים of the crafty , ‘ă·rū·mîm יְ֝דֵיהֶ֗ם so that their hands yə·ḏê·hem תַעֲשֶׂ֥ינָה find ṯa·‘ă·śe·nāh וְֽלֹא־ no wə·lō- תּוּשִׁיָּֽה׃ success . tū·šî·yāh
