נָֽפְלָה֙ fell nā·p̄ə·lāh מִן־ from min- הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם heaven . haš·šā·ma·yim וַתִּבְעַ֥ר It burned wat·tiḇ·‘ar וַתֹּאכְלֵ֑ם and consumed wat·tō·ḵə·lêm בַּצֹּ֛אן the sheep baṣ·ṣōn וּבַנְּעָרִ֖ים and the servants , ū·ḇan·nə·‘ā·rîm אֲנִ֛י and I ’ă·nî לְבַדִּ֖י alone lə·ḇad·dî וָאִמָּ֨לְטָ֧ה have escaped wā·’im·mā·lə·ṭāh רַק־ . . . raq- לְהַגִּ֥יד to tell lə·hag·gîḏ לָֽךְ׃ you !” lāḵ Job 1:17 ע֣וֹד׀ While he ‘ō·wḏ זֶ֣ה was still zeh מְדַבֵּ֗ר speaking , mə·ḏab·bêr וְזֶה֮ another [messenger] wə·zeh בָּ֣א came bā וַיֹּאמַר֒ and reported : way·yō·mar כַּשְׂדִּ֞ים “ The Chaldeans kaś·dîm שָׂ֣מוּ׀ formed śā·mū שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה three šə·lō·šāh רָאשִׁ֗ים bands , rā·šîm וַֽיִּפְשְׁט֤וּ raided way·yip̄·šə·ṭū עַל־ ‘al- הַגְּמַלִּים֙ the camels , hag·gə·mal·lîm וַיִּקָּח֔וּם and took them away . way·yiq·qā·ḥūm וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- הִכּ֣וּ They put hik·kū הַנְּעָרִ֖ים the servants han·nə·‘ā·rîm לְפִי־ vvv lə·p̄î- חָ֑רֶב to the sword , ḥā·reḇ אֲנִ֛י and I ’ă·nî לְבַדִּ֖י alone lə·ḇad·dî וָאִמָּ֨לְטָ֧ה have escaped wā·’im·mā·lə·ṭāh רַק־ . . . raq- לְהַגִּ֥יד to tell lə·hag·gîḏ לָֽךְ׃ you !” lāḵ Job 1:18 עַ֚ד While ‘aḏ זֶ֣ה he zeh מְדַבֵּ֔ר was still speaking , mə·ḏab·bêr וְזֶ֖ה another messenger wə·zeh בָּ֣א came bā וַיֹּאמַ֑ר and reported : way·yō·mar בָּנֶ֨יךָ “ Your sons bā·ne·ḵā וּבְנוֹתֶ֤יךָ and daughters ū·ḇə·nō·w·ṯe·ḵā אֹֽכְלִים֙ were eating ’ō·ḵə·lîm וְשֹׁתִ֣ים and drinking wə·šō·ṯîm יַ֔יִן wine ya·yin הַבְּכֽוֹר׃ in their oldest hab·bə·ḵō·wr אֲחִיהֶ֥ם brother’s ’ă·ḥî·hem בְּבֵ֖ית house , bə·ḇêṯ Job 1:19 וְהִנֵּה֩ when suddenly wə·hin·nêh גְּדוֹלָ֜ה a mighty gə·ḏō·w·lāh ר֨וּחַ wind rū·aḥ בָּ֣אָה׀ swept in bā·’āh מֵעֵ֣בֶר from mê·‘ê·ḇer הַמִּדְבָּ֗ר the desert ham·miḏ·bār וַיִּגַּע֙ and struck way·yig·ga‘ בְּאַרְבַּע֙ the four bə·’ar·ba‘ פִּנּ֣וֹת corners pin·nō·wṯ הַבַּ֔יִת of the house . hab·ba·yiṯ וַיִּפֹּ֥ל It collapsed way·yip·pōl עַל־ on ‘al- הַנְּעָרִ֖ים the young people han·nə·‘ā·rîm וַיָּמ֑וּתוּ and they are dead , way·yā·mū·ṯū אֲנִ֛י and I ’ă·nî לְבַדִּ֖י alone lə·ḇad·dî וָאִמָּ֨לְטָ֧ה have escaped wā·’im·mā·lə·ṭāh רַק־ . . . raq- לְהַגִּ֥יד to tell lə·hag·gîḏ לָֽךְ׃ you !” lāḵ Job 1:20 אִיּוֹב֙ Then Job ’î·yō·wḇ וַיָּ֤קָם stood up , way·yā·qām וַיִּקְרַ֣ע tore way·yiq·ra‘ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- מְעִל֔וֹ his robe , mə·‘i·lōw וַיָּ֖גָז and shaved way·yā·ḡāz אֶת־ - ’eṯ- רֹאשׁ֑וֹ his head . rō·šōw וַיִּפֹּ֥ל He fell way·yip·pōl אַ֖רְצָה to the ground ’ar·ṣāh וַיִּשְׁתָּֽחוּ׃ and worshiped , way·yiš·tā·ḥū Job 1:21 וַיֹּאמֶר֩ saying : way·yō·mer עָרֹ֨ם “ Naked ‘ā·rōm
