Esther 1:18 הַזֶּ֜ה This haz·zeh וְֽהַיּ֨וֹם very day wə·hay·yō·wm שָׂר֣וֹת the noble women śā·rō·wṯ פָּֽרַס־ of Persia pā·ras- וּמָדַ֗י and Media ū·mā·ḏay אֲשֶׁ֤ר who ’ă·šer שָֽׁמְעוּ֙ have heard šā·mə·‘ū אֶת־ about ’eṯ- הַמַּלְכָּ֔ה the queen’s ham·mal·kāh דְּבַ֣ר conduct də·ḇar תֹּאמַ֣רְנָה׀ will say tō·mar·nāh לְכֹ֖ל the same thing to all lə·ḵōl הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ the king’s ham·me·leḵ שָׂרֵ֣י officials , śā·rê וּכְדַ֖י resulting in much ū·ḵə·ḏay בִּזָּי֥וֹן contempt biz·zā·yō·wn וָקָֽצֶף׃ and wrath . wā·qā·ṣep̄ Esther 1:19 אִם־ So if ’im- עַל־ . . . ‘al- ט֗וֹב it pleases ṭō·wḇ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ the king ham·me·leḵ מִלְּפָנָ֔יו . . . , mil·lə·p̄ā·nāw יֵצֵ֤א let him issue yê·ṣê מַלְכוּת֙ a royal mal·ḵūṯ דְבַר־ decree , ḏə·ḇar- וְיִכָּתֵ֛ב and let it be recorded wə·yik·kā·ṯêḇ בְּדָתֵ֥י in the laws bə·ḏā·ṯê פָֽרַס־ of Persia p̄ā·ras- וּמָדַ֖י and Media ū·mā·ḏay וְלֹ֣א so that it cannot wə·lō יַעֲב֑וֹר be repealed , ya·‘ă·ḇō·wr אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ’ă·šer וַשְׁתִּ֗י Vashti waš·tî לֹֽא־ shall never again lō- תָב֜וֹא enter ṯā·ḇō·w לִפְנֵי֙ the presence lip̄·nê הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ of King ham·me·leḵ אֲחַשְׁוֵר֔וֹשׁ Xerxes , ’ă·ḥaš·wê·rō·wōš וּמַלְכוּתָהּ֙ and that her royal position ū·mal·ḵū·ṯāh יִתֵּ֣ן shall be given yit·tên הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ . . . ham·me·leḵ לִרְעוּתָ֖הּ to a woman lir·‘ū·ṯāh הַטּוֹבָ֥ה better haṭ·ṭō·w·ḇāh מִמֶּֽנָּה׃ than she . mim·men·nāh Esther 1:20 פִּתְגָ֨ם The edict piṯ·ḡām הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ the king ham·me·leḵ אֲשֶֽׁר־ - ’ă·šer- יַעֲשֶׂה֙ issues ya·‘ă·śeh וְנִשְׁמַע֩ will be heard wə·niš·ma‘ בְּכָל־ throughout bə·ḵāl רַבָּ֖ה his vast rab·bāh הִ֑יא . . . hî מַלְכוּת֔וֹ kingdom — mal·ḵū·ṯōw כִּ֥י and so kî וְכָל־ all wə·ḵāl הַנָּשִׁ֗ים women , han·nā·šîm קָטָֽן׃ from the least qā·ṭān וְעַד־ to wə·‘aḏ- לְמִגָּד֖וֹל the greatest , lə·mig·gā·ḏō·wl יִתְּנ֤וּ will honor yit·tə·nū יְקָר֙ . . . yə·qār לְבַעְלֵיהֶ֔ן their husbands . ” lə·ḇa‘·lê·hen Esther 1:21 הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ The king ham·me·leḵ וְהַשָּׂרִ֑ים and his princes wə·haś·śā·rîm וַיִּיטַב֙ were pleased way·yî·ṭaḇ בְּעֵינֵ֥י . . . bə·‘ê·nê הַדָּבָ֔ר with this counsel ; had·dā·ḇār הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ so the king ham·me·leḵ וַיַּ֥עַשׂ did way·ya·‘aś מְמוּכָֽן׃ as Memucan mə·mū·ḵān כִּדְבַ֥ר had advised . kiḏ·ḇar Esther 1:22 וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח He sent way·yiš·laḥ סְפָרִים֙ letters sə·p̄ā·rîm אֶל־ to ’el- כָּל־ all kāl- מְדִינ֣וֹת the provinces mə·ḏî·nō·wṯ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ of the kingdom , ham·me·leḵ אֶל־ to ’el- מְדִינָ֤ה each province mə·ḏî·nāh וּמְדִינָה֙ . . . ū·mə·ḏî·nāh כִּכְתָבָ֔הּ in its own script kiḵ·ṯā·ḇāh וְאֶל־ and to wə·’el- עַ֥ם each people ‘am וָעָ֖ם . . . wā·‘ām כִּלְשׁוֹנ֑וֹ in their own language , kil·šō·w·nōw וּמְדַבֵּ֖ר proclaiming ū·mə·ḏab·bêr כִּלְשׁ֥וֹן - kil·šō·wn
